How to build Mayano Top Gun in Umamusume: Pretty Derby the right way?

(Image via Cygames) If you're planning to turn Mayano Top Gun into a long-distance monster in Umamusume: Pretty Derby , you can't just wing it. With her natural stamina and late-surging running style, she thrives in grueling races, but only if trained smartly. Here's a crisp, no-fluff guide to build Mayano Top Gun the right way and get her championship-ready. Step 1: Understand Her Strengths Mayano Top Gun is a Late Surger with a +20% bonus in Stamina. That already puts her in a great position for endurance races like Tenno Sho (Spring) and Arima Kinen. But she lacks innate Speed or Power bonuses, which means you'll need to build those up manually . In other words, don't treat her like a tank; she needs finesse. Mayano Top Gun Maverick Step 2: Target Stat Goals Keep these numbers in mind for optimal performance in 3000m+ races: Speed : 1100+ Power : 1000+ Stamina : 900–1000 Wit & Guts : 300–400 (enough to unlock key passive skills) Pro tip : If you're aiming for URA Finals or mid-distance events too, shift ~100 points from Stamina to Speed. Step 3: Build Your Support Deck Go with a 2 Speed / 2 Power / 1 Stamina / 1 Friend setup for balance. If you're confident in your friend card's recovery boosts, you can swap the Power/Stamina ratio depending on race distance. Alternative loadout : 3 Speed / 1 Stamina / 1 Power / 1 Guts – this is riskier but works well with strong Rainbow synergy. Focus on cards with Friendship Bonus and Training Efficiency, especially those that buff Speed or Power alongside events that grant recovery or acceleration skills. Step 4: Optimize Your Training Path Early Game (Year 1) : Maximize bond levels. Don't rest unless her condition is downright awful . Mid Game : Use Summer Camp to push Speed and Power hard. Start entering G2/G3 races to rack up fans. Late Game : Hit 60,000 fans by February Year 3 to unlock her awakening. Don't skip races and mix in wins with training. Track stamina loss. Overtraining kills her late-race burst, so let Friend cards handle recovery while you focus on key stats. Umamusume Run #12: Mayano Top Gun Step 5: Skill Priority You want stamina recovery, lane stability, and final-stretch acceleration. Prioritize: Homestretch Haste Gourmand Go with the Flow Swinging Maestro Straightaway Acceleration Professor of Curvature (for long curves like Arima) Don't chase flashy golds and stick with what triggers reliably for her Late Surger style. She's not an early leader. Avoid sprint races and tightly packed short courses. Aim for open tracks with long final stretches. With the right training curve, smart support deck, and race-aligned skills, Mayano Top Gun won't just run; she'll fly . Catch Rani Rampal's inspiring story on Game On, Episode 4. Watch Here!
