Governors Ball 2025: the Ultimate Dining Guide to the NYC Music Festival
One of New York City's biggest music festivals, the Governors Ball (aka Gov Ball), is back soon, with three days filled with concerts, dancing, and general merriment. The 15th edition takes place in Queens at Flushing Meadows Corona Park from Friday, June 6 through Sunday, June 8, with headliners like pop star Olivia Rodrigo, rapper Tyler the Creator, and Irish singer-songwriter Hozier.
What's nice about the Governors Ball's food lineup is that there are a bunch of familiar New York restaurants and vendors, some sourced straight from the neighboring Queens Night Market (which will be taking place on Saturday, June 7, so you can check it out at the same time). To help make dining at Governors Ball easier, Eater put together this handy guide on what and where to eat during the music festival. General Governors Ball Festival Tips We all know this, right? No outside food or drinks are allowed inside the grounds.
It's an outdoor event — wear comfortable shoes!
It looks like temperatures will be in the low 80s on Friday and 70s the other two days during the daytime, with drops to the 60s in the evenings. So wear sunscreen — only small containers with creams, lotions, and sticks creams are allowed; drink lots of water (you can bring in plastic and metal bottles because there are water stations); and bring a layer like a cardigan or a light jacket for when it gets chillier.
Currently, there are chances of rain this weekend — 47 percent on Saturday and 40 percent on Sunday — but umbrellas aren't allowed.
Little bags are fine, but bigger bags need to be clear; double-check your measurements.
No cash is accepted.
The festival grounds, near the beautiful Unisphere, feature five food courts for general admission ticket holders, which mostly centered in the northeast sections of the grounds. For lunch:
Twisted Potato: Okay, so the Queens Night Market vendor's namesake dish is a food festival gimmick, but that's because it's fun and good. Seasonings include ketchup, Buffalo, salt-and-vinegar, and Parmesan garlic. Located at food court no. 2 in the northeast area
Matylda's Polish Food: The Queens Night Market vendor is thankfully slinging pierogi. Mix and match vegetarian fillings like potato-cheddar, potato-onions, potato-jalapeños, sauerkraut-mushrooms, and spinach-farmers cheese. For people seeking meat, the stand also has Polish kielbasa. For a touch of sharpness, add a half-sour pickle. Located at food court no. 2 in the northeast area
Walter's Hot Dogs: Some of New York's best hot dogs come from this Westchester shop, which will roll down its food truck to Queens for the festival. The food truck is offering its hot dogs, available in singles, doubles, veggie, and the Big Walt (a 'thicker, longer' frank). Bypass the straight-up chili — come on, you're at a music festival — for chili cheese fries. Located at food court no. 5 near the eastern area; and no. 7 in the VIP section next to the Kiehl's stage
Eemas Cuisine: Find really fun musubi at this Hawaiian and Filipino stand, which is also a Queens Night Market staple. There's the OG Spam with a grilled slice of the canned pork, and a spicy imitation crab salad version. Larger plates include coconut shrimp or barbecue chicken, with sauces, seasoned rice, and macaroni salad, or the pancit, stir-fried noodles and vegetables. Charles Pan-Fried Chicken: Eater had called Charles Gabriel a 'fried chicken king' before for good reason: Through his Harlem restaurant, he skillet-fries chicken into crunchy, juicy poultry. This menu centers on wings, available pan-fried or jerk, accompanied by mac and cheese, yams, or collard greens. Located at food court no. 4 near the western area
Gotham Burger Social Club: Yes, smash burgers are everywhere (even at this festival), and this Lower East Side/Greenpoint burger joint serves up a really great rendition. There's the namesake Gotham Smash, a classic smash burger with grilled onions, American cheese, pickles, jalapeño, club sauce, ketchup, and mustard. For vegetarians, there's the Veg'N-Out. Fan Fan Doughnuts: The Bed-Stuy doughnut shop creates perfect doughnuts that are available at the festival. There are classics like Mexican cinnamon sugar and the Danny Boy (salted brown butter caramel). Lemonades: Plenty of the festival's food vendors are touting lemonades, from Cafe Habana to Destination Dumplings.
Coffee: The Doughnuttery is offering flavored cold brews.

Boba: Tea and Milk will have drinks like strawberry matcha lattes, milk teas, and Arnold Palmers with boba add-ons.

Tracking the NYC Restaurants in ‘And Just Like That...' Season 3, Episode 2
And just like that, HBO Max's Sex and the City sequel series returns for its third season. And Just Like That... brings back our long-time New Yorkers Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker), Miranda (Cynthia Nixon), and Charlotte (Kristin Davis), as well as relative newcomers Seema (Sarita Choudhury) and Lisa (Nicole Ari Parker), to our televisions and laptops. What is summer without our gals talking candidly about sex, making bad puns, and dining and drinking around the city? Like previous seasons, Eater will be tracking where the gang is eating across New York City, from brunch sessions to romantic dinners to cocktail dates. This guide will be updated weekly when each episode airs on Thursdays at 9 p.m., leading up to the finale. And we're saying it now: there will be spoilers ahead. Episode 2, 'Outlook Good' Welcome to New Rat City, Carrie Bradshaw. Her idyllic Gramercy Park townhouse garden is overrun by the truest of New Yorkers — rats! Miranda discovers the joys of bad reality dating shows, and Seema's dealing with a parade of bad dates. Anthony is fulfilling his dream of opening a physical Hot Fellas bakery, or as he too obviously calls it, a 'dick-and-mortar.' It looks cute, with a counter, baked goods on display, tiled walls, lots of blues, and bread-shaped scones and door handles. (The production team didn't use an existing bakery for the filming — rather, they took over an empty storefront on the corner of East 88th Street and Madison Avenue.) Jac's on Bond 26 Bond Street, near Lafayette Street, Noho The episode begins with Carrie meeting with her former neighbor Lisette, who bought her longtime Upper East Side apartment at the cocktail bar. Lisette preemptively orders them both gimlets. 'I made a bold choice,' she explains. Lisette gifts Carrie a necklace with her old key and street address while they chat about dating in the city. Rosa Mexicano 61 Columbus Avenue at West 62nd Street, Lincoln Square The Upper West Side location of the Mexican mini-chain is a major set piece for this episode. In the first scene, Carrie, Miranda, and Seema are seated in the main dining room with chips and salsa for the group. A server comes over to make them tableside guacamole; she chimes in during Miranda's discussion of dating reality show Bi Island, and Miranda falls in love. Later on, Carrie and Miranda are back at the restaurant — Carrie is Miranda's 'guacamole beard' while Miranda flirts with the same staffer. 'I predict a very bright future for you,' Carrie says, 'Your combined good cholesterol will be through the roof.' They're seated next to the stunning blue-tiled waterfall wall. They order the guacamole again made by the same server, but alas, it turns out she's not interested in dating Miranda. Carrie also sends a voice text to Aidan while standing in the restaurant's beautiful bathroom. (Rosa Mexicana is planning on shuttering this Lincoln Square location to reopen nearby inside the Empire Hotel on West 63rd Street at some point this year. Le B 283 West 12th Street at West Fourth Street, Greenwich Village Seema goes on a series of bad dates at the luxe restaurant, where she and the lackluster men sit at the best seats at the bar — the corner. She disses one date who she assumes will ask to split the check by summing up the experience: 'Drinks: 30 dollars; telling you to go shove it: priceless.' Amazing. Tatiana 10 Lincoln Center Plaza, at West 65th Street and Ninth Avenue, Lincoln Square Seema goes on what she assumes is a date set up by her coworker at the upscale Afro-Caribbean restaurant. But it turns out to be a matchmaker meeting with Sydney, played by the delightful Cheri Oteri. (Maybe matchmaking in New York City is in the air: director Celine Song's new movie Materialists , which comes out on Friday, June 13, centers on a matchmaker in Manhattan.) Sydney showcases how good she is at reading people by ordering for Seema: 'salmon tartare, wasabi vinaigrette on the side, extra avocado, and hold the scallions.' Seema agrees it's the right choice. For herself, she gets the crispy artichoke and a martini (none of these are served at Tatiana actually). Bottino 246 Tenth Avenue, near West 24th Street, Chelsea For Seema's attempt to act like an appealing woman for the sake of a man, she goes on a date in the pretty garden patio of the Italian restaurant. They're eating pasta and drinking red wine; later, the guy orders two tiramisus, but Seema has had enough. 'I hated the cabernet you chose, and the tiramisu is tired,' she says, admitting that this isn't who she really is. He claims to still be into the date, but then ditches her, leaving Sydney to pop up out of nowhere to finish the dessert. And just like that (sorry, sorry), we're ready for next week's episode. Episode 1, 'Outlook Good' Goodbye, Carrie's brownstone that's actually in the West Village but masquerades as the Upper East Side; hello, new Gramercy Park townhouse. Last season, Carrie sold her iconic studio to buy and move into a large building along the park for herself and her cute kitty Shoe. Carrie and Aidan are in an ambiguous not-being-together-for-now situation as he lives in Virginia. Miranda's now back in New York and single. Motel No Tell 210 Avenue A, at East 13th Street, East Village Of course, a queer bar decked out with neon and a disco ball would be blasting Chappell Roan's 'Hot to Go!' This East Village bar is standing in for a 'lady bar,' as Miranda describes to Carrie and Charlotte, thanking them for accompanying her on a night out of trying to score a date. Now, she's a non-alcoholic drinker, but laments her $37 mocktail tabs, and later orders a Phony Negroni. A couple of scenes later, we're back at the bar: it's closing time and Miranda is alone. But she meets Mary (played by Rosie O'Donnell), a Canadian visiting the city. They end up going to her hotel room together. (In real life, Motel No Tell is celebrating its television appearance by offering a cocktail special for the summer: the Lady Pond is made with vodka, orange, vermouth, cranberry, lime, and apple shrub, for $16.) Tavern on the Green West 67th Street and Central Park West, Upper West Side Okay, the iconic Central Park restaurant isn't actually seen on the show, but it's the butt of a joke. Miranda recaps her hookup to Carrie, explaining that she turned out to be a nun who really wanted to take her to Tavern on the Green, saying 'she doesn't know, it's her first trip to New York.' Carrie is aghast: 'I don't know which is worse: that you slept with a nun or a tourist.' Jean-Georges 1 Central Park West, between Columbus Circle and West 61st Street, Lincoln Square Another talked-about but never-seen restaurant. Seema's Marvel director boyfriend Ravis is back from filming in Egypt and tells her he booked lunch at the French tasting menu restaurant. But before that, his film crew has to scout locations in Red Hook, which makes him late for their 1 p.m. reservation. He pushes it back to dinner, and the group eats cooler sandwiches on the pier. But of course, they miss their dinner, and Seema breaks it off. 'I don't do vans or Cool Ranch potato chips, but I did try,' she says. Red Rooster 310 Lenox Avenue, at West 126th Street, Harlem Lisa is tasked with throwing a last-minute cocktail reception for her husband Herbert to make him look cool for his political campaign running for city comptroller. So what's cooler than the celebrity chef Marcus Samuelsson's comfort food flagship? The dining room is full — Lisa tells the girls that they should 'eat everything' and that 'the fritters are no joke.' Why Newsmax Stock Is Sinking Today
The company's stock is down more than 90% from its peak post IPO. Despite this, it still remains expensive in my view. 10 stocks we like better than Newsmax › Shares of Newsmax (NYSE: NMAX) are plunging on Thursday. The media company's stock lost 9% as of 3:50 p.m. ET. The steep decline comes as the S&P 500 (SNPINDEX: ^GSPC) and Nasdaq Composite (NASDAQINDEX: ^IXIC) lost 0.3% and 0.8%, respectively. There isn't a direct catalyst today, so here's a quick analysis of the company's stock. Newsmax saw its stock skyrocket nearly 1,800% in the first two days following its recent initial public offering (IPO), before falling roughly 90% over the next week. The conservative media company's viewership has been spiking, leading to the intense excitement around its stock. Newsmax's Q1 viewership jumped 50% year over year, and it is now one of the five most-watched channels in all of cable and the fourth-most-watched cable news channel. Along with its viewership, its revenue has grown considerably as well. The company's revenue jumped 26.4% from 2023 to 2024. That's about where the good news ends. The company is operating deep in the red, losing more than $17 million in the first quarter of 2025. Its viewership numbers are also less impressive when you consider that most cable news channels saw comparable major growth over the same period and that its biggest competitor, Fox News, is still miles ahead. All 15 of the most-watched shows on cable appear on Fox. And that 15th-ranked show has 3 times as many viewers as Newsmax's top-ranked program. Despite this disparity, Newsmax stock carries a price-to-sales ratio more than 8 times that of Fox News' parent company. This seems divorced from reality to me. And if that weren't reason enough to stay away from this stock, Newsmax is facing massive litigation over its false statements regarding the 2020 election. The penalty it could face would potentially bankrupt the company. Jury deliberations begin in Harvey Weinstein's NYC sexual assault retrial
Jurors in Harvey Weinstein's sexual assault retrial in Manhattan finished their first day of deliberations Thursday, as they mull whether the disgraced Hollywood heavyweight leveraged his power to sexually assault three women. Weinstein, 73, is on trial in Manhattan Supreme Court for criminal sex act and rape, after his landmark 2020 #MeToo conviction was overturned last year. Jurors heard the stories of three accusers over the course of the eight-week trial — former TV production assistant Miriam Haley, Polish model and aspiring actress Kaja Sokola, and one-time actress Jessica Mann. Mann and Haley testified at Weinstein's 2020 trial, which ended in a 23-year prison sentence before the state's highest court ruled that Judge James Burke should have never allowed the testimony of three women who accused the movie mogul of sexual assaults that weren't included in the charges against him. Defense lawyer Arthur Aidala and Assistant D.A. Nicole Blumberg gave their closing arguments on Tuesday and Wednesday, and the case officially went to the jury at about 11:30 a.m. Thursday. The jurors ended the day with a trio of notes to the court, requesting to again hear testimony from Sokola and Mann describing their alleged attacks at the TriBeca Grand Hotel and DoubleTree Hotel. They also asked to see Mann's medical records from her hospital and doctor's visits after news accounts came out detailing Weinstein's history as a serial sex harasser in October 2017. Mann testified that she checked herself into an emergency room after having a panic attack and suicidal thoughts after hearing the news. The records also show that she told her doctors Weinstein had raped her. Haley, a former TV producer who met Weinstein in 2004 accused him of pulling out a tampon and forcibly performing oral sex on her in July 2006, and testified about a second, unwanted sexual encounter at the Tribeca Grand Hotel two weeks later. Sokola testified that Weinstein attacked her when she was a 16-year-old model, rubbing her vagina under her pants and underwear in 2002, and in 2006, he forcibly performed oral sex on her at the Tribeca Grand Hotel while her sister waited at a restaurant table downstairs. Mann, also an aspiring actress, alleged Weinstein raped her in Midtown's DoubleTree Hotel in March 2013, but maintained a complicated 'relationship' that included some consensual sexual encounters for years. She also testified about an encounter at the Peninsula Hotel in 2013 where she says Weinstein raped her after she told him she was getting serious with her new actor boyfriend. Jury deliberations resume Friday.
