In 2015,Trump's campaign shared a report from his doctor brimming with superlatives. But the doctor, Harold Bornstein, later said Trump dictated the whole letter. In addition to praising then-candidate Trump's 'astonishingly excellent' lab results, the assessment went a tad over-the-top in describing Trump's well-being: 'His physical strength and stamina are extraordinary. If elected, Mr. Trump, I can state unequivocally, will be the healthiest individual ever elected to the presidency.'
In 2018 Trump bristled at claims of his cognitive problems in a book and took a dementia test. Dr. Ronny Jackson said the president scored a 30 out of 30 on the Montreal Cognitive Assessment. Trump earlier tried to quiet the chatter about his mental health by dubbing himself 'a very stable genius.'
Jackson also gushed about his overall health, even predicting Trump would be 'fit for duty' for a second presidency.
In 2019 one of Trump's doctors, Sean Conley, was accused of becoming an 'instrument of his lies' because he too forecasted Trump's well-being ― in glowing terms of course.
In 2020 amid the pandemic, Trump again boasted about his mental acuity by bragging that he could remember 'person, woman, man, camera, TV' in a cognitive test. But he got mocked instead.

The Ukrainian president has arrived for his Oval Office discussions with Trump, who left a summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin without a ceasefire deal. President Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky are meeting at the White House to discuss Russia's war in Ukraine. Zelensky, whose last trip to the Oval Office unraveled in spectacular fashion, will be joined by European leaders, including French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte. The sitdown comes three days after Trump met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Anchorage, Alaska, in a highly watched summit that ended without a ceasefire deal. Trump has been trying for months to secure an end to the Russia-Ukraine war. He framed the Alaska talks as the first step in reaching a 'peace agreement' between Moscow and Kyiv. In a post on Truth Social on Sunday, Trump said Zelensky 'can end the war with Russia almost immediately, if he wants to, or he can continue to fight.' The president suggested Ukraine must cede Crimea, which Russia annexed in 2014, and agree that Ukraine will never join NATO — two key demands made by Putin. Meanwhile, Russia continues to strike Ukraine. At least seven people, including a child, were killed in a Russian drone strike on an apartment complex in Kharkiv on Monday, Ukrainian officials said. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is wearing a black suit jacket and black shirt, but not a full suit, for his meeting with President Trump. When Zelensky arrived for his meeting with Trump in February, Trump made a joke about Zelensky being "all dressed up" because he was wearing his usual military uniform instead of a suit. According to Axios, Trump's advisors had also told Zelensky's team that it would be more respectful if he wore a suit when visiting the White House. Toward the end of the Oval Office meeting, a reporter asked Zelensky why he "refused to wear a suit." "A simple yet profound concept, Mr. Putin, as I am sure you agree, is that each generation's descendants begin their lives with a purity — an innocence which stands above geography, government, and ideology. 'Yet in today's world, some children are forced to carry a quiet laughter, untouched by the darkness around them — a silent defiance against the force that can potentially claim their future,' she said. She implored Putin to "singlehandedly restore their melodic laughter," saying that he could do so "with a stroke of the pen." "It is time," the first lady concluded. The last time President Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky met in the Oval Office was in February, when an argument broke out between the two leaders. The meeting was for an economic deal that would make the U.S. a partner in developing Ukraine's natural resources, Yahoo Finance reported at the time, but Zelensky left the White House before signing the deal. During the 10-minute meeting, Trump and Vice President JD Vance called Zelensky "disrespectful" and claimed he wasn't thankful enough for the U.S.'s involvement. "Russia can only be forced into peace through strength, and President Trump has that strength. We have to do everything right to make peace happen." In his post, Zelensky also pointed to Russia's continued strikes on Ukraine amid the discussions. "Last night, Russian attacks on our cities continued," he said. "Among those killed were two children, and dozens of people were wounded. People were simply sleeping when the Russian army launched strikes on the cities." In a Truth Social post earlier this morning, President Trump said he was anticipating 'a big day at the White House' 'We have never had so many European Leaders here at one time,' Trump said. 'A great honor for America!!!' Last night, Trump said on Truth Social that Zelensky 'can end the war with Russia almost immediately, if he wants to, or he can continue to fight.' The president suggested that Ukraine has to agree to some of Russia's conditions for the war to end. Those conditions include Ukraine ceding Crimea to Russia and agreeing not to join NATO. Texas Republicans' redistricting map: How the GOP could increase its stronghold.
Texas Republicans and Democrats are engaged in a redistricting battle that is spurring a national partisan war over congressional maps before the 2026 midterms. President Donald Trump's political team pressured Texas lawmakers to redraw the districts this year. Redistricting normally occurs at the beginning of a decade, after the decennial census. But this mid-decade move is aimed at creating more Republican districts in Texas and protecting the GOP's narrow majority in the U.S. House. The most recent proposed map could help Republicans gain five seats held by Democrats. That would give the GOP 30 of Texas' 38 congressional districts. The proposal prompted Texas Democrats to flee the state in July. Their absence during a special legislative session denied the Texas House the number of members needed to advance legislation, a move meant to stop the maps from passing the Legislature. But Gov. Greg Abbott called a second special legislative session and Democrats have returned. Republicans look to gain five U.S. House districts If the 2024 election had taken place under the proposed maps, President Donald Trump would have carried three more districts than he would have under the current congressional map. In addition, Republicans would have better odds in two districts currently held by Democrats that Trump already carried in 2024. Republican share of U.S. House seats already eclipses statewide GOP support Trump won Texas in 2024 with 56% of the vote. But the current Congressional maps drawn in 2021 saw voters preferring him in 71% — or 27 — of the 38 Texas congressional districts. Under the current proposed map, Trump would have carried 79% of districts, meaning the new boundaries are drawn in a way that favors Republicans far beyond their share of statewide voter support last year. How Texas Republicans secured an outsized share of congressional districts Republicans control both chambers of the Texas Legislature, which draws congressional districts. GOP lawmakers in 2021 gave their party an advantage in Congress when they drew the district boundaries. Giving one political party an advantage over the other, or gerrymandering, is something both parties do in states across the country. Under this year's proposed plan, Democratic districts in the Dallas and Houston areas were drawn to increase, or 'pack', the number of Democratic voters in districts the minority party already controls. Packing those districts leaves fewer Democratic voters and more Republican voters in neighboring districts. Consolidating more Democrats into nearby districts could turn seats represented by Democratic U.S. Reps. Julie Johnson in North Texas' 32nd District and Al Green in the Houston area's 9th District into Republican districts. In Hays County, 52.1% of voters chose Democrat Kamala Harris in 2024. Under the new proposal, that county south of Austin is split into two Republican districts, the 21st District and 27th District. Decreasing a party's voting strength is called 'cracking.' Republicans hope Texas voters continue shifting to the right The GOP is gambling that the state continues its rightward shift in the 2026 midterms. Significant Democratic gains in 2018 almost gave Beto O'Rourke the win in the U.S. Senate race. But the pendulum swung back to Republicans when O'Rourke unsuccessfully ran against Gov. Greg Abbott in 2022. Republicans hope that South Texas, whose voters are mostly Hispanic, will continue to skew right in order to flip the seats held by Democrats Rep. Henry Cuellar in the 28th District and Rep. Vicente Gonzalez in the 34th District. New map would pack more white, Hispanic and Black voters into districts where they're the majority Parties can carve up districts for political gain, but they cannot redraw the districts to dilute the voting strength of voters of color. Because Black and Hispanic voters in major Texas cities favor Democrats, it can be hard to determine whether lines are drawn for partisan gains versus racial dilution. In Texas, Hispanics make up the largest demographic group and have driven population growth in the state for at least the last 20 years. But Hispanics are the majority in only seven out of 38 proposed districts. Still, there would be one additional district where Hispanic Texans make up the majority. There would be an additional two districts where white Texans are the majority, and an additional two districts with a majority of Black Texans. In addition, the new maps would decrease the number of multiracial districts where no one racial group holds a majority from nine to four, creating two new majority Black districts — the 30th District in Dallas represented by Democratic Rep. Zelensky, Europeans highlight ‘future security architecture' ahead of Trump meeting
Ukraine's president and a number of European leaders on Monday said the U.S. must be a partner in creating the future security architecture for Ukraine and the entire European continent. The statement came after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky huddled with European leaders at the Ukrainian embassy in Georgetown before heading to the White House to meet with President Trump. While Trump has ruled out bringing Ukraine into NATO, he has raised some sort of security guarantees for the country as part of any peace deal with Russia. 'The leaders welcomed the readiness of the United States to participate in guaranteeing security for Ukraine. One of the key issues in the negotiations with President Trump will be the joint participation of the United States and Europe in creating the future security architecture for Ukraine and, consequently, for the entire European continent,' the statement read. The signatories to the statement included President of Finland Alexander Stubb, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Keir Starmer, President of the Council of Ministers of Italy Giorgia Meloni, President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.
