Chelsea crushed PSG 3-0 in the final, but their historic win was overshadowed by US President Donald Trump's awkward presence, a stadium full of boos, and FIFA's desperate attempts to save face. From military salutes to mistaking Cole Palmer for Lionel Messi, Trump's actions raised eyebrows — while FIFA President Gianni Infantino continued to call it a "huge success." Don't Really Care! Ten Hag After 5-1 Loss To Flamengo U-20s On Leverkusen Debut
Last Updated: Erik ten Hag's debut as Bayer Leverkusen manager ended in a 5-1 loss to Flamengo's Under-20 team. Leverkusen struggled without key players. Former Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag had a disastrous start at Bayer Leverkusen, facing a humiliating defeat against Flamengo's Under-20 team on Friday. In his first game back in management since his dismissal by United last year, Ten Hag, who succeeded Xabi Alonso at Bayer Leverkusen last month, saw his side suffer a 5-1 loss in Brazil. This marked his first match in the dugout since his sacking by United last October. Erik ten Hag watched as his new squad was thoroughly outplayed by the Brazilian team. Bayer Leverkusen might still be adjusting to life without Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong and Jonathan Tah, all of whom departed at the end of the season after being pivotal in their title-winning campaign of 2023-24. Despite the fact it was only a friendly, the loss was significant. How Bayer Leverkusen Lost? Leverkusen's starting XI in the friendly in Rio de Janeiro included Mark Flekken, Jonas Hofmann, Victor Boniface, and former United defender Timothy Fosu-Mensah. However, they found themselves 2-0 down within the first ten minutes and trailing 4-0 by half-time. Flekken and Boniface were substituted after just 36 minutes, with Niklas Lomb and Alejo Sarco coming on as replacements, possibly indicating early signs of trouble. Montrell Culbreath scored a consolation goal for Leverkusen in the dying minutes of the pre-season friendly. Ten Hag's next challenge for Leverkusen is another friendly match against fellow German team Bochum next Saturday in Brazil. After the match, Erik ten Hag did not want to give too much importance to the humiliating loss. 'The result looks bad, but I don't really care about results in preseason," he remarked. 'We should never lose, even by a large margin, but it was important to me not to lose any players. 'It would have been better to play the game later." Bayer Leverkusen are the first Bundesliga club to have a pre-season tour in South America, with their visit to Rio de Janeiro from July 14 to July 24. view comments Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. ‘An underdog that bites back, just like me': American rapper Snoop Dogg on buying stake in Swansea City
Swansea City has never got back to the English Premier League League since being relegated in 2018 but the Welsh club seems to be benefitting from looking at ways to resurrect itself and return to the top flight. Three months after Croatia great Luka Modric, who recently moved to AC Milan, picked up a stake in the 113-year-old club, US rapper Snoop Dogg had become a co-owner and investor. The 53-year-old, shared how he sees the club as 'An underdog that bites back, just like me'. 'My love of football is well known, but it feels special to me that I make my move into club ownership with Swansea City,' the music icon said in the announcement. 'The story of the club and the area really struck a chord with me. This is a proud, working class city and club. An underdog that bites back, just like me. I'm proud to be part of Swansea City. I am going to do all I can to help the club,' Dogg told the club's website. Though based in Swansea, Wales, the club plays within the English football pyramid. Founded in 1912, Swansea were promoted to the Premier League in 2011 and won the League Cup in 2013. They were relegated to the second division English Championships after the 2018 season. The club had seen a takeover led by American businessmen Brett Cravatt and Jason Cohen last November. Since then they replaced manager Luke Williams with Alan Sheehan becoming the team manager. Last year, the team finished 14th in Championship standings followed by the year's 11th place finish in the standings. With Modric becoming one of the investors, Dogg now becomes the second big name to invest in the club. Swansea City is delighted to announce global rap superstar and multi-platinum selling artist @SnoopDogg has become the club's latest high-profile co-owner and investor. 👉 — Swansea City AFC (@SwansOfficial) July 17, 2025 The 53-year-old rapper, who was one of the torch bearers of the Olympic flame in Paris Olympics, has been known to support teams like NHL side Toronto Maple Leafs apart from having seen wearing shirts of clubs like Chelsea, Barcelona, AC Milan, Ajax, Arsenal, Burnley, Norwich City, Liverpool and Manchester United in public life. Dogg talked about a kit which he expects to 'fit'. For many years, I have been associated with soccer. I have worn a lot of kits in my life, but now I am at the part of my life where I am trying to find a kit that fits.' Digg shared on the club's website. In 2016, American businessmen Jason Levin and Steve Kaplan had bought a 68 percent stake in the club, which was a part of the English Premier League at that time and the deal saw the club being valued near 100 million pounds. Later Levin and Kaplan increased their stake in the club in 2018 before selling their stake to Cravatt and Cohen. The club's owners Brett Cravatt and Jason Cohen hailed Dogg's coming on board. 'To borrow a phrase from Snoop's back catalogue, this announcement is the next episode for Swansea City as we seek to create new opportunities to boost the club's reach and profile. Snoop's colossal global fanbase and audience will certainly help us do that, and he has made clear to us throughout this process just how excited he is at the prospect of joining the club. Snoop has openly shared his love of football and his desire to be involved in the game and we expect his involvement to support us putting as competitive a team as possible out on the field,' the owners said in a statement.
