Hagawane brothers booked for allegedly using fraudulent address to get weapon licence
Two separate criminal offences were lodged on Thursday against Shashank Hagawane and his brother Sushil Hagawane at the Warje and Kothrud police stations for allegedly using fraudulent means for obtaining gun licences.
According to police sources, the Hagawane brothers are accused of submitting forged documents and providing misleading information for taking weapon licences.
According to the police, Shashank allegedly submitted address document of flat number 203, Sargam Colony in Karvenagar to get licence for .32 bore pistol on December 22, 2022. However, Sagar Babanrao Dangat, owner of the flat, said Shashank never lived in the house. Police have filed a case against Shashank under Sections 177, 191, 192, 193, 417, 420 of the IPC and Sections 30 of the Arms Act.
Sushil obtained licence for .32 bore pistol on November 1, 2022 on the basis of address proof of 79/1 Mokatenagar on Paud Road in Kothrud. Police investigation revealed that the accused hired the flat by telling the owner Ananta Kandhare that due to family disputes he and his wife are renting out the property. But according to the owner, the accused never shifted there but four to five people occupied the flat for seven to eight months and left the property.
A case has been filed against Sushil at Kothrud police station under Sections 177, 191, 192, 193, 417, 419 of the IPC and Sections 30 of the Arms Act.
Vaishnavi, the daughter-in-law of expelled Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Rajendra Hagawane, died by suicide at her marital home in Pune on May 16. The police have arrested Rajendra Hagawane, wife Lata, daughter Karishma and sons Sushil and Shashank.
Vaishnavi's family has alleged that she was tortured by the family of her husband Sushil for dowry.

A court in Shahjahanpur has sentenced three men to life imprisonment for the murder of a youth after he allegedly tried to stop a group of people from casting votes during the 2022 Assembly election in Tilhar, suspecting bogus voting. The victim, Sudhir, was a polling agent of the Samajwadi Party. 'The court sentenced all three accused—Rakesh Singh, Rajeshwar Singh, and Vishesh Yadav—to life imprisonment in the murder case of Sudhir,' said Government Counsel (Shahjahanpur) Rajeev Awasthi, adding nine prosecution witnesses were examined during the trial. The three – all residents of Chakora village in Nigohi — were convicted under IPC section 302 (murder) and 304 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention). Roshan Lal Verma, who was Samajwadi Party's candidate from Tilhar Assembly seat, said: 'Sudhir was my polling agent and killed by men associated with the BJP.' The BJP denied having any association with the convicts. 'I have heard about the case and the convicts have no association with the party and never been any office-bearers,' said BJP's Shahjahanpur district president Krishna Chandra Mishra. He added that Sudhir did not hold any party post in the Samajwadi Party. Following the verdict, Rakesh and Vishesh, who were out on bail, were taken into custody. Rajeshwar Singh had been in jail since his arrest. According to the public prosecutor, Sudhir's father had lodged a police complaint alleging that his son was attacked and killed by assailants on the morning of February 15, 2022. He alleged that the attack was the result of a dispute that took place a day earlier when Sudhir—who was serving as a polling agent for the Samajwadi Party—had a heated argument with three youths after stopping them from casting bogus votes.

Lucknow: In a serious breach of prison regulations, jailed former MP Rizwan Zaheer was found to be living in VIP comfort during an inspection at Lalitpur District Jail on Sunday. The raid, conducted by District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) secretary Mayank Jaiswal, revealed luxury items and banned goods inside Zaheer's high-security barrack, including cash hidden under his pillow. Man sentenced to 7 years in jail for abduction, rape of minor 11 years ago in Ghaziabad
Ghaziabad: A man was sentenced to seven years in jail on Saturday and fined Rs 20,000 in an 11-year-old case of abduction, inducement for marriage, and rape of a minor. The Special Pocso Court of Lal Babu Yadav mentioned that since the crime commenced before the amendment to the Pocso Act , the convict was sentenced to the maximum quantum available under penal provisions during that period. On Feb 11, 2014, a minor girl was kidnapped from near the Satmola factory in Sahibabad. Her father later registered a case of abduction and forceful marriage at the Karkar Model police station against the accused, who also worked in the same factory. Police launched a manhunt, and the girl was rescued and the accused arrested from Sahibabad railway station on Feb 22, 2014. The girl was sent for a medical test and her statement was recorded under CrPC section 164. A case was then registered under sections 363, 366, and 376 of IPC along with section 3/4 of the Pocso Act, 2012. The accused plead not guilty on all charges, claiming the girl had insisted on their marriage and that he never forced her into any sexual act. Special public prosecutor (Pocso) Satish Sharma argued that the girl was a minor and was allured for marriage. He was also pronounced guilty under section 366 of IPC for alluring a minor for marriage and seducing her under section 366 of IPC. In addition, the court noted that while dealing with Pocso cases, the maximum quantum of sentence prescribed under IPC and the Pocso Act should be awarded.
