Hagawane brothers booked for allegedly using fraudulent address to get weapon licence
Two separate criminal offences were lodged on Thursday against Shashank Hagawane and his brother Sushil Hagawane at the Warje and Kothrud police stations for allegedly using fraudulent means for obtaining gun licences. According to police sources, the Hagawane brothers are accused of submitting forged documents and providing misleading information for taking weapon licences. According to the police, Shashank allegedly submitted address document of flat number 203, Sargam Colony in Karvenagar to get licence for .32 bore pistol on December 22, 2022. However, Sagar Babanrao Dangat, owner of the flat, said Shashank never lived in the house. Police have filed a case against Shashank under Sections 177, 191, 192, 193, 417, 420 of the IPC and Sections 30 of the Arms Act. Sushil obtained licence for .32 bore pistol on November 1, 2022 on the basis of address proof of 79/1 Mokatenagar on Paud Road in Kothrud. Police investigation revealed that the accused hired the flat by telling the owner Ananta Kandhare that due to family disputes he and his wife are renting out the property. But according to the owner, the accused never shifted there but four to five people occupied the flat for seven to eight months and left the property. A case has been filed against Sushil at Kothrud police station under Sections 177, 191, 192, 193, 417, 419 of the IPC and Sections 30 of the Arms Act. Vaishnavi, the daughter-in-law of expelled Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Rajendra Hagawane, died by suicide at her marital home in Pune on May 16. The police have arrested Rajendra Hagawane, wife Lata, daughter Karishma and sons Sushil and Shashank. Vaishnavi's family has alleged that she was tortured by the family of her husband Sushil for dowry.

Vaishnavi Hagawane's kin accuse husband's aide, sister of harassment in Pune dowry case
1 2 3 Pune: In the alleged suicide case of Vaishnavi Hagawane, her relatives have accused husband Shashank Hagwane's business associate Nilesh Chavan and sister Karishma for physically and mentally harassing her, the state prosecution told a magisterial court on Wednesday. The court of judicial magistrate first class VP Khandare extended the custodial remand of Shashank (27), mother Lata (52) and sister Karishma (31) till May 29. The court also extended the police custody of his father Rajendra (63) and brother Sushil (27) till May 31. Earlier, Bavdhan police's senior inspector Anil Vibhute produced the five accused before the court and filed a remand report to extend their custodial remand on the grounds that there was sufficient progress in investigations. Assistant public prosecutor Nitin Adagale told the court that during questioning, Vaishnavi's relatives alleged Chavan, who is on the run, and Karishma's complicity in the crime. Adagale said custodial interrogation of Rajendra and Sushil was essential to trace Chavan's whereabouts and to recover the cellphones of Lata, Karishma and Sushil. He said the phones may contain evidence — like conversations, chats and messages — against Chavan and Sushil related to the victim's harassment. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Truque caseiro noturno eficaz contra a papada (faça hoje mesmo) Revista & Saúde Saiba Mais Undo The prosecutor said Rajendra and Lata need to be taken into confidence to find out why Vaishnavi's gold ornaments were pledged in a bank and to whom was the loan disbursed. The accused's questioning was essential to establish who else is involved in the crime, he added. Defence lawyer Vipul Dushing opposed the prosecution's plea to extend the custodial remand of the accused because the court had given police sufficient time for investigations and nothing incriminating was recovered. The court upheld the prosecution's plea and extended the custodial remand of the accused. Meanwhile, the state commission for women on Wednesday demanded a probe into the alleged delay in filing the chargesheet in a domestic abuse case filed by Vaishnavi's sister-in-law, Mayuri Jagtap, Sushil's wife. Vaishnavi, expelled functionary of NCP Rajendra Hagawane's daughter-in-law, allegedly hanged herself at her marital home in Bhukum on May 16. In a letter sent to chief minister Devendra Fadnavis, commission chairperson Rupali Chakankar said Vaishnavi's family has alleged Rajendra and his relatives harassed her for dowry, which included a demand for Rs2 crore to purchase land. Chakankar said a domestic abuse complaint was earlier filed with the Paud police on behalf of Mayuri Jagtap, following directions from the commission on Nov 7, 2024. The superintendent of (Pune rural police) has submitted a report that the chargesheet was not filed within 60 days. The case was later transferred to the Bavdhan police on Jan 31, she added.

Vaishnavi Hagawane death: Father-in-law Rajendra, brother-in-law Sushil arrested in Pune
The Pimpri Chinchwad police on Friday arrested Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Rajendra Hagawane and his son Sushil in connection with the alleged death by suicide of his daughter-in-law Vaishnavi. Rajendra and Sushil, who were on the run for nearly a week, were caught in Pune's Swargate area, the police said. After Vaishnavi was found dead at her in-laws' house in the Bhukum area on May 16, her father, Anil Sahebrao Kaspate, had lodged an FIR against her husband and in-laws at the Bavdhan police station. No suicide note was found, the police said. The police invoked charges related to dowry death, abetment of suicide, physical assault, etc., against Vaishnavi's husband Shashank, father-in-law Rajendra, mother-in-law Lata, sister-in-law Karishma, and brother-in-law Sushil. While Shashank, Lata and Karishma were arrested, Rajendra and Sushil were on the run. Six police teams were formed to look for them. In the FIR, Kaspate alleged that at the time of Vaishnavi's wedding, they had given 510 grams of gold, silver, and a Fortuner SUV to her in-laws. The FIR further alleged that Vaishnavi's in-laws had been abusing her, mentally and physically, asking her to bring Rs 2 crore more to purchase a property. He also said in the FIR that there were injury marks on Vaishnavi's body, alleging that this suggested physical abuse, adding that he feared that his daughter had been murdered. 'Based on the initial findings, a case of abetment to suicide has been registered. We are investigating all the possible angles,' a senior officer from the Pimpri Chinchwad police said. Meanwhile, on Thursday, the Kaspate family got custody of Vaishnavi's 10-month-old baby boy.
