Williams sympathises with Scotland's contract woes

Wales co-captain Kate Williams says she sympathises with Scotland players who are going through contract uncertainty in the build up to the Rugby World Cup.
More than half of Scotland's squad fear being left without a professional deal after the tournament in October.
A source in their camp told the BBC in June players were suffering with their mental and emotional health.
Wales experienced similar upheaval last year when they were given ultimatums and threatened with being withdrawn from the World Cup when contract talks broke down.
The Welsh Rugby Union (WRU) later apologised for its handling of the situation.
"I wouldn't wish what we went through on any other team," said back-row forward Williams.

Scotland are due to meet Wales in their Pool B opener on Saturday.
It is a game which could decide which team makes it through to the quarter-finals, with Canada expected to top the group and both sides tipped to beat Fiji.
"I think it's really poor timing for them, that they're going through this now," said Williams.
"I guess our timing was possibly a bit better," she added, with Wales' woes coming prior to WXV2 rather than the World Cup.
And while Williams says she and her team mates "feel their pain", there will be no time for sympathy in Salford.
"We are here to play rugby and we're here to win that Test match," said the Gloucester-Hartpury flanker.
"We know how important it is, so it's just going to be who's better on the day."

USC football countdown to kickoff—Caleb Williams in focus
The countdown to USC's 2025 football season is officially on! The Trojans kick off their new campaign 13 days from today. You need something to help you while away the days and hours in the spring and summer. This is one way to do so. In this new series, countdown to kickoff, we will be counting down the days by highlighting a notable Trojan who wore each number. Today, we look at former USC Heisman Trophy quarterback Caleb Williams. Position: Quarterback Years played at USC: 2022-2023 Career highlights: Williams started his college career at Oklahoma, before transferring to USC alongside head coach Lincoln Riley following the 2021 season. In his first year with the Trojans, Williams took the College Football world by storm, recording 4,537 passing yards and 42 touchdowns, to go along with ten more scores on the ground. That fall, Williams became USC's eighth Heisman Trophy winner, while leading the Trojans to 11 victories after they won just four games the year prior. The following season, Williams's numbers regressed slightly, but were still impressive. However, the Trojans struggled on the field in 2023, finishing the regular season just 7-5. Williams's final game in Cardinal and Gold was a 38-20 home blowout loss to rival UCLA, as he elected to sit out of USC's Holiday Bowl victory over Louisville. After USC: Williams declared for the 2024 NFL Draft, where the Chicago Bears selected him with the first overall pick. Williams's rookie season was an up-and-down one, as he finished it throwing for 3,541 yards, 20 touchdowns, and six interceptions while leading Chicago to a 5-12 record. With new head coach Ben Johnson at the helm, Williams will look to take a step forward in year two this fall.

'We just need a striker' and 'maybe Snoop can entice Vardy'
We asked for your thoughts after Swansea City beat Sheffield United 1-0 at the Stadium to give Alan Sheehan's side their first points in the Championship this season. Here are some of your comments: Alan: "A good win but we need more signings. Certain players in that team need replacing. A striker is a must. Cullen is simply not good enough. Why didn't they play Bobby Wales from the beginning ? Neil: "Excellent against Sheff Utd. New players looked settled which is pleasing. A striker is still needed to bolster up front." Michael: "If we take anything from the Watford game, it's a solid start. A lot of players have come in that need time to gel and will improve. I think we've recruited well but still a bit thin in some areas. The Middlesbrough and Sheffield Utd game really do highlight the need for a quality striker as I don't think Cullen or Vipotnik are the answer. Bobby Wales has a promising future ahead but he isn't the finished article yet." Ron: "We need to get the centre forwards scoring. If not then replace them with incoming talent." Erfan: "A good start to the season but I think we still need to solidify our attacking options. Missed out on McBurnie but maybe Snoop and the boys can entice Vardy down." Gary: "We just need a striker, an actual bona fide, out-and-out striker. Not Cullen - he was all at sea against Sheff Utd - and Bobby Wales should have been given at least 20 mins. I cannot believe the manager can't see it, it's been obvious for the last two seasons." Robert: "Same old format. We have a high percentage of procession and find it difficult to score. A good manager should be able to select a team and have the ability to change things if they are not producing the results. Winning by a single goal has been our downfall in so many games. If we are serious about being back in the Premiership we need to improve in recent performances." Joel: " Sheehan is building solid foundations and a team with grit. I think it's better to do that than to expect to score loads of goals straight away, but concede loads at the same time. Let them get their rhythm first. But another striker and back-up left back are needed." Brian: "We are solid at the back and good going forward but we are desperate for an out and out striker. We should have got something out of the Middlesbrough game, and the amount of chances we had against Sheffield Utd it should have been 4-0 - we can't waste chances like this in the Championship." Richard: "Far too early to assess the Swans. I'm just praying that they bring in a decent striker,as it's clear that they are going to struggle to score if they don't. I will keep everything crossed."
