Meet actress who started her career at 17, faced rejection, fell in love with divorced man, now owns assets worth Rs 134 crore, she is...

In the glitz and glamour of Bollywood, not every actress becomes a superstar. It takes a lot of grit, determination, hard work, and resilience to establish a name in B-town. Today, we will talk about an actress whose career spanned over three decades, and in these 30 years, she transformed herself from a Bollywood newcomer to a beloved actress, fitness icon, entrepreneur, and television personality. Her fitness is her goal, and despite turning 50 years old, this actress looks as young as Alia Bhatt or Deepika Padukone. While you may think we are talking about Malaika Arora, Raveena Tandon, or Madhuri Dixit — let us tell you, it is none of them. The actress in discussion is Shilpa Shetty. From the flamboyant heroine of the 90s to today's fitness icon, Shilpa Shetty has ruled Bollywood in her own way. Shilpa started her career at the age of 17. However, her road to fame was not easy. In her initial days, she faced many roadblocks. However, she never gave up. Shilpa's debut came at 17 with the film Baazigar in 1993. This was right after her 10th standard. Initially, when she started, no producer or director wanted to work with her, and she had to go through massive rejections, as per a report by News18 Hindi. In an interview with Humans of Bombay, Shilpa said that in the beginning, she wanted to work with her father. However, there was always hope in her mind that she wanted to do something big. Soon after entering a beauty pageant, things changed for her. She received the offer for her debut movie, and since then, she never looked back. In the interview, Shilpa said that at first, she had difficulty speaking Hindi, and it used to make her nervous — especially when she was in front of a camera. She said, 'After a few films, I reached a point where my career ended. I have tried many times, but I always lagged behind. It is not easy to celebrate one moment and ignore the next. I remember there were producers who used to remove me from their films without any reason.' However, fate changed, and Shilpa started doing some good films, and many of them turned out to be huge hits. These movies include Dhadkan, Rishtey, Phir Milenge, Life in a… Metro and more. On November 22, 2009, after a short courtship, Shilpa tied the knot with Raj Kundra. As per media reports, Kundra got divorced while he was in courtship with Shilpa. Now, the couple has been blessed with two kids — a son Viaan and a daughter Samisha. In terms of earnings, she competes with big superstars. She has luxurious properties including a sea-facing bungalow worth Rs 100 crore. She also owns a private jet. According to financial reports, Shilpa's total net worth is Rs 134 crore.

RBI repo cut effect: HDFC slashes lending rates by 10 bps; new rates already in effect

Private sector lender HDFC Bank has reduced its benchmark lending rates following the Reserve Bank of India 's (RBI) unexpected decision on Friday to cut the repo rate by 50 basis points in a bid to revive the slowing economy. The bank revised its marginal cost of funds-based lending rates (MCLR) downward by 10 basis points across all loan tenures. According to its website, the new rates came into effect on 7 June. The overnight and one-month MCLR now stands at 8.90%, the three-month at 8.95%, and the six-month and one-year tenures are down to 9.05%. The two- and three-year rates have been trimmed from 9.20% to 9.10%. The changes follow the RBI's latest policy review, in which the central bank not only delivered a sharper-than-expected 50 basis point repo rate cut to 5.5% but also surprised markets by reducing the cash reserve ratio (CRR) by 100 basis points to 3%. The CRR cut is expected to infuse an additional Rs 2.5 lakh crore into the banking system. The RBI's monetary policy committee, led by Governor Sanjay Malhotra, voted 5-1 in favour of the rate cut, signalling a stronger push to support lending and spur economic activity. This latest move brings the total rate cuts for 2025 to 100 basis points, following earlier reductions in February and April. THIS Actor Charged Rs 4.35 Crore Per Minute for a Cameo; The Highest in Indian Cinema History and it's not Shah Rukh Khan or Prabhas

In 2019, Ajay Devgn made history by charging Rs 35 crore for an 8-minute role in SS Rajamouli's RRR, making it the most expensive cameo in Indian cinema. This worked out to Rs 4.35 crore per minute, the highest per-minute rate ever recorded for an Indian actor. At a time when top stars like Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Prabhas, and Vijay command massive fees, this short role by Ajay set a new benchmark. To put it in perspective, if Shah Rukh Khan were to charge the same rate for Jawan, where he appears for about 70 minutes, his fee would have been over Rs 300 crore, more than the film's total budget. Here's how Ajay's RRR cameo changed industry pay scales SS Rajamouli announced RRR in 2017 after the success of Baahubali 2. Jr NTR and Ram Charan were the lead stars, with Alia Bhatt and Shriya Saran later joining. In early 2019, Ajay Devgn came on board for a powerful cameo. Though his screen time was only eight minutes, he charged Rs 35 crore for the appearance. At Rs 4.35 crore per minute, his fee outpaced all other actors in India. For comparison, stars like Rajinikanth (Jailer), Salman Khan (Tiger 3), Prabhas (Kalki 2898 AD), and Allu Arjun (Pushpa 2) would need to charge over Rs 250 crore to match that rate, which none of them have reportedly done. This short but high-fee role helped Ajay stand out as India's highest-paid actor by the per-minute metric. Ajay Devgn's evolving fee structure post 2019 Ajay Devgn has continued to see box office success after the pandemic, with hits like Drishyam 2, Raid 2, and Singham Again. His pay varies based on the project. He reportedly charged Rs 20 crore for smaller films such as Raid 2 and Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha, while commanding Rs 40 crore or more for big productions like Singham Again. In 2021, he also became the highest-paid OTT actor in India, signing on for Rudra: The Edge of Darkness on Disney+ Hotstar for Rs 125 crore. Chiranjeevi was the first Indian actor to charge Rs 1 crore for a film in the 1990s. That became the standard, with top actors like the Khans, Akshay Kumar, Sridevi, and Madhuri Dixit following suit. But with time, Rs 1 crore became standard even for supporting roles.
