Brock Lesnar's daughter dominates shot put at NCAA championships

New York Post14 hours ago

Mya Lesnar, the daughter of UFC and WWE star Brock Lesnar, is a national champion.
A senior at Colorado State, Mya captured the NCAA shot put championship on her first throw, which traveled 19.01 meters, or 62 feet and 4 ½ inches, at the NCAA Track and Field Championships in Eugene, Ore., on Thursday.
It was a fitting end to a dominant collegiate career in which Mya also won the 2024 indoor shot put national championship and was named 2024 Mountain West Female Athlete of the Year, among several other accolades.

She entered the national championships ranked as the top outdoor shot put thrower in the nation and bested Illinois' Abria Smith, whose best throw landed at 18.85 meters, 61 feet, 10 ¼ inches.
Mya's title also marked Colorado State's first outdoor national championship since 2005, when Loree Smith won the hammer throw.

Mya was the only woman to hit the 19-meter mark all season, and her title-winning throw on Thursday was far from her personal best.

She hit the 19.60-meter mark at the final dual meet of her collegiate career, which would have secured a bronze medal at the 2024 Olympics in Paris.
And it turns out she may have gotten some pre-competition inspiration from 'Modern Family' star Eric Stonestreet, who said he 'coached her up a little over FaceTime in prep for the big day' in a congratulatory post on Instagram.

By capturing her second national title, Mya has now officially outdone the NCAA career of her dad, who won the NCAA heavyweight wrestling title with Minnesota in 2000 before going on to UFC and WWE glory.

Brock was in attendance as Mya earned the title, proudly taking in the moment from the stands.
What's next for Mya's career remains to be seen, although she certainly seems to have the requisite talent to compete for the U.S. at the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles if she desires.

What time is Kamaru Usman vs. Joaquin Buckley? Walkouts for UFC on ESPN 69 main event

With their careers on opposite trajectories, Kamaru Usman and Joaquin Buckley will come together to do battle. This UFC welterweight bout scheduled for five rounds is taking place Saturday, June 14 at State Farm Arena in Atlanta. Usman (20-4 MMA, 15-3 UFC), the former UFC champion at 170 pounds, seemingly is in the midst of the downswing of his illustrious career at 38 years old. His last victory came in November 2021 while he was still champion against Colby Covington. Since then, Usman lost the title to Leon Edwards by dramatic fifth-round knockout, dropped a majority decision to Edwards in their trilogy, and lost a majority decision to Khamzat Chimaev in an appearance at middleweight. Usman hasn't competed since the defeat to Chimaev in October 2023 while he's dealt with injury to his knees. Buckley (21-6 MMA, 11-4 UFC), on the other hand, has been on the come-up, winner of six consecutive fights dating back to May 2023. Buckley is coming off the biggest win of his career this past December, when he beat up Covington for three rounds before the cageside doctor called the fight. Buckley hopes a win over Usman could solidify his place in the UFC welterweight title picture. Here are the walkout times for the UFC on ESPN 69 main event between Usman and Buckley. When does the UFC on ESPN 69 fight card start? The UFC on ESPN 69 lineup consists of 13 fights. Prelims start at 7 p.m. ET and the main card at 10 p.m. ET. Kamaru Usman vs. Joaquin Buckley walkout time As the main event, Usman and Buckley are expected to make their walks to the octagon at approximately 12:30 a.m. ET. The fight airs on ESPN and streams on ESPN+.

Former NBA Player Feels Anthony Edwards Would Go "Supernova" With Kevin Durant On The Timberwolves

Former NBA Player Feels Anthony Edwards Would Go "Supernova" With Kevin Durant On The Timberwolves originally appeared on Fadeaway World. The Phoenix Suns' imminent rebuild seems to be on the horizon after missing the NBA Playoffs for the first time since the 2019-20 season. Trading an aging Kevin Durant seems to be the better option for them instead of their All-Star, who is in his prime, Devin Booker. Advertisement The recent buzz seems to have made it an inevitability that we will hear about a Kevin Durant trade this summer. It is more a question of 'when and where?' instead of 'if' at this point. The former NBA player Jay Williams recently appeared on ESPN and claimed that the Minnesota Timberwolves should be the frontrunners to get Durant only due to the resulting impact on Anthony Edwards. "I personally feel that the best fit is Minnesota. Number 1, it's like Outlaws, right? It's like Tupac and Snoop on the album cover; that is, Anthony Edwards and Kevin Durant. USA Basketball was an incredible time for them. You saw their bond continue to mature." "Anthony Edwards does not call any player in the world his favorite player; he's one of the most competitive dudes you've ever met, he'll call KD that. And Marc Lore, Alex Rodriguez, new ownership in Minnesota, if it's a year deal, I would sign KD to an extension, because it helps Anthony Edwards get to that next level. He's a superstar, but Anthony Edwards can become a supernova if he has KD by his side." Following his experience with veterans like Stephen Curry and LeBron James in the Olympics, the resulting impact on his game was visible in this season itself. He first led the Timberwolves to beat Kevin Durant's Suns 4-0 in their season series. Then in the Playoffs, his team beat both Curry and James' teams, the Warriors and the Lakers, in five games to head to his second consecutive Western Conference Finals experience. Advertisement Anthony Edwards averaged 27.6 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 4.5 assists in 79 games this season. Edwards and the Timberwolves seem to be on the precipice of becoming a team that could win multiple championships over the next decade. If he gets another 25 points per game scorers like Durant on his team, he would no longer feel pressured to carry their offensive load and play even more freely. Julius Randle, who came to the Timberwolves as part of a trade for Karl-Anthony Towns, was a consistent second option for Edwards this season. However, his lack of experience in the Playoffs proved pivotal, and he failed to show up for them in two games and finished with 6 and 5 points in games 2 and 4 of their series against the Thunder. If they replace Randle with Durant as the second option for Edwards, it would propel the Timberwolves and Edwards personally to another level. Should Rodriguez and Lore pull the trigger and go all in on a win-now move for Durant? Let us know what you think in the comments section.
