
NBWL okays bridge project on highway in Chambal sanctuary
Jaipur: The standing committee of
(NBWL) granted approval for the construction of a bridge on
(Indargarh–Lalitpur) which passes through the
area.The bridge is expected to benefit over 3 lakh residents in the Indargarh and Lakheri areas of Bundi district, the Khatauli, Pipalda and Etawa areas of Kota district, and parts of Madhya Pradesh.A senior official said, "With this decision, the path is now clear for the construction of the proposed high-level bridge on the Chambal River and its approach road.

The project was stalled for years but finally received the green light after the Lok Sabha Speaker pushed for it and held discussions with the ministry of environment."In 2023, the public works department granted administrative approval of Rs 256.46 crore for the construction of the bridge at village Gothda Kalan on the Indargarh–Dhibri–Rajopa–Etawa–Shahnawda–Lalitpur state highway-120.The total proposed length of the bridge is 4.8 kilometre, comprising 1,880 metre of bridge structure and 2,920 metre of approach roads. "Land acquisition is underway, with 14.94 hectares in Bundi district and 7.233 hectares in Kota district. Since the bridge falls within the Chambal Sanctuary area, approval from the National Board for Wildlife was essential," the official added.The proposal, submitted in Dec 2023, was forwarded to the Wildlife Board following recommendations by the State Wildlife Board. during its meeting on April 22, 2025.

Rs 20 crore allotted for Bonalu festival; to start on June 26
HYDERABAD: The government has allocated Rs 20 crore for the conduct of the Ashada Bonalu festival, which will kickstart on June 26 and culminate on July 24. Telangana panchayat secretaries threaten mass leave over unmet demands
NALGONDA: Panchayat secretaries across Telangana have announced mass leave from Wednesday following a call by the Joint Action Committee (JAC) to press for the resolution of their long-pending issues. President of the Nalgonda Panchayat Secretaries' Association, SA Qasim, stated that bills worth crores of rupees for gram panchayats have been pending for the past 18 months. He added that during the last two summers, individual secretaries incurred debts ranging from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 10 lakh to ensure an uninterrupted water supply. Qasim also highlighted the tragic death of Indanpally secretary Chandramouli from Jannaram mandal in Mancherial district, attributing it to financial stress caused by unpaid dues.

After I met him, he immediately instructed officials to visit the site. They came on June 9 and promised that fencing work will begin after a feasibility check,' said Mani Ranjan, another Tahsildar Shashidhar confirmed the MP's instructions. 'I will ask the Panchayat Development Officer to submit a report. The fencing will be completed within 30 days,' he Manjunath stressed the importance of conserving water bodies. 'Protecting lakes is vital for groundwater recharge and ensuring clean water must be a priority,' he said.
