Cabin crew help deliver Thai passenger's baby mid-air on Air India Express Muscat-Mumbai flight
Upon landing in the city, the baby and mother were admitted to hospital. Both are in good health.
The unscheduled birth has upset the travel plans of the mother, who boarded the Air India Express flight from Muscat with her one-year-old infant to fly to Bangkok via Mumbai, as now as travel documents need to be prepared, topmost being Indian visa for the three. For at least a week now, the trio will have to stay put in Mumbai because of the airline's age restriction for babies.
Also, the newborn will need a passport.
The passenger went into labour about 45 minutes before the flight was to land in Mumbai, said a source. Since Mumbai was the closest airport at that time, the flight did not divert.

"The moment the Thai national went into labour, the crew responded swiftly, drawing on their rigorous training to ensure a secure and compassionate environment for the birth," said Air India Express in a media statement.

Among the crew who helped with the delivery was senior cabin crew Sneha Naga, along with other flight attendants, Aishwarya Shirke, Asiya Khalid, and Muskan Chauhan. The flight was piloted by Capt Ashish Vaghani and Capt Faraz Ahmed.
"The pilots alerted the air traffic control to request priority landing at Mumbai, where medical teams and an ambulance were ready on arrival. Upon touchdown, both mother and baby were immediately transferred to a nearby hospital for further care, accompanied by a female airline staff member to provide continued support," it said, adding that Air India Express is in touch with the Consulate General of Thailand in Mumbai to support the passenger's onward journey to their home country.

With this feat, Uma becomes the second Indian and the fourth cyclist in the world to conquer the treacherous off-road trail to ABC on a bicycle. The journey began on July 26 from the Vikas Bhawan campus in Gorakhpur as part of a Tiranga Yatra, following which Uma commenced his cycling expedition from Pokhara on July 27. Over the next six days, he braved steep ascents, relentless rains, dense forests, rocky terrain and slippery trails to reach the summit. He completed the descent and returned safely to Pokhara by Aug 3 evening. Uma described the journey as one of the most grueling experiences of his life. He said: "The unpredictable weather, rocky climbs, leeches, insects and the constant fear of getting lost in the forest — every moment tested my limits. Sometimes the trail would disappear under heavy rain. But I kept telling myself, 'Just a little more, the summit is near.'" Braille signboards installed at two monuments in Mandu
Mhow: Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has installed Braille signboards at two monuments in the fort city of Mandu in Dhar district. These signboards provide complete details of the monuments to those who cannot see the beauty of Mandu. "At present, we have installed Braille signboards at Hindola Mahal and Jahaj Mahal. The plan is to include other important monuments in this project so that blind persons visiting Mandu can get information about these monuments themselves," ASI Bhopal division superintendent Manoj Kumar Kurmi said. "It has been seen that not only Indian but blind tourists from foreign countries too visit Mandu, especially during monsoon season. We are continuously working to put Mandu on the tourist maps at national and international levels," Kurmi said. Mandu, also called Mandapa-Durg in the earliest records, was a fortified city that flourished as early as the 6th century. By the 10th century, it rose to prominence under Raja Bhoj of the Paramar dynasty, serving at times as their capital, especially after attacks on their earlier capital, Dhar. KSRTC buses, stations undergo transformation under waste free Kerala campaign
Thiruvananthapuram: Local self govt minister M B Rajesh said that as part of waste-free Kerala campaign, a remarkable transformation was taking place in KSRTC buses and bus stations. He was speaking at the inauguration of Haritha Sangamam —a one-day workshop, jointly organised by Haritha Keralam Mission and KSRTC on Wednesday. As part of the waste-free campaign, cleaning activities are conducted every Saturday in the offices of the transport department and bus stations. The minister also mentioned that bins were being installed inside the buses and waste was being processed accordingly. Transport minister Ganesh Kumar said it was essential for bus stations to be clean and KSRTC employees have been able to make this practical. "Bus stations are places with the highest footfall in a day. If such places are clean, our land will also be clean. By providing facilities like clean restaurants and restrooms, KSRTC has been able to regain passengers lost during the Covid-19 period," the minister said. On Aug 21 chief minister would flag-off of KSRTC vehicles with the best facilities available in the country.
