"Huge blessing for Kashmir": Ashwini Vaishnaw on Chenab rail bridge
New Delhi [India] June 7 (ANI): In a landmark achievement for India's infrastructure and connectivity, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Katra-Srinagar railway line, including the iconic Chenab rail bridge. This fulfilled a long-cherished dream of Kashmir's integration with the nation. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said the railway line bridge will be a 'huge blessing' for Kashmir. 'The decades-old dream of Kashmir has been fulfilled today. PM Modi inaugurated the Katra-Srinagar railway line and two bridges today. This is a huge achievement, and it will prove to be a huge blessing for Kashmir,' he told reporters on Friday. Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia told reporters invoked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said, ''The Prime Minister has always said that India will emerge as a shining star on the world stage of development and progress, and the forces that will try to stop development will be given a befitting reply, and India will continue to develop...' Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the world's highest railway arch bridge, Chenab Railway Bridge, and India's first cable-stayed bridge, Anji Bridge, in Jammu and Kashmir's Reasi district. In a remarkable gesture, Prime Minister Modi waved the Tiranga, the Indian national flag and carried it forward on the deck of the bridge on the Chenab River. Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw were present during the inauguration. Before the inauguration of the bridge on the Chenab, the Prime Minister inspected the railway arch bridge. These bridges are part of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Railway Link (USBRL) project in Jammu and Kashmir. The iconic Chenab Railway Bridge, the world's highest railway arch bridge, is part of the Katra-to-Sangaldan stretch, connecting New Delhi directly with Kashmir via Katra. Situated in the Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir, the Chenab Bridge is an engineering marvel standing at 359 meters above the riverbed. It will officially connect the Kashmir Valley with the rest of India via rail for the first time. The project faced numerous engineering and logistical challenges due to the region's difficult terrain and seismic sensitivity. Yet, after years of meticulous work, the bridge now stands as a testament to India's technological prowess and commitment to inclusive development. It marks a transformative chapter in India's infrastructural landscape, promising greater connectivity, economic growth, and regional social integration. (ANI)

Delhi high court orders revised results for CLAT PG-2025
The Delhi high court on Friday directed the consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs) to release revised results for this year's Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) postgraduate (PG) exam, awarding marks to all candidates for two disputed questions deemed incorrect in the official answer key. A bench of chief justice DK Upadhyaya and Justice Tushar Rao Gedela ruled that the consortium's answers for two of the three contested questions were erroneous and directed that marks be given to all test-takers, who opted for the answer deemed correct by the court. Initially, petitioners had challenged eight questions, but the Consortium withdrew four during an April meeting. After the verdict was reserved, it also agreed to withdraw a fifth question due to a discrepancy between the test booklet and the master key. That left three questions for the court to decide. In its 18-page judgment, the court refused to quash the ₹1,000 fee charged for objecting to the provisional answer key but urged the Consortium to reconsider the amount for future exams. 'While the fee is meant to deter frivolous challenges, particularly by coaching institutes, it appears excessive compared to other national-level institutions,' the court noted. The court stopped short of ordering a refund, saying most candidates had already paid the amount and retrospective relief could trigger further litigation. It asked the Consortium to refer the matter to its grievance redressal committee. The petitions reached the Delhi high court after the Supreme Court, on February 6, transferred all cases pending in other high courts to avoid conflicting rulings. These included challenges to the CLAT UG and PG results declared on December 7, 2024. The CLAT answer key has come under legal scrutiny since a Delhi high court order in December 2024, in a case filed by a UG candidate. On April 23, the Delhi high court had ordered revised UG results, but the Supreme Court stayed that directive on April 30. On May 7, the top court criticised the Consortium for framing questions 'casually' and for answers that contradicted Supreme Court rulings. It ordered revisions to the evaluation of six UG questions. The final answer key was amended on May 17, reducing the total marks to 113. UG counselling began the same day.

DKS' behaviour was dadagiri: Joshi
Mysuru: Demanding the resignation of the chief minister and deputy chief minister in connection with the Bengaluru stampede that claimed 11 lives, Union minister Pralhad Joshi censured DCM DK Shivakumar for his alleged behaviour, describing it as a kind of dadagiri on the day of the incident. Shivakumar acted like a bully all day, and he shouldn't continue in his position for even a moment. Both CM Siddaramaiah and DCM DK Shivakumar should resign immediately, the minister told reporters in Mysuru. Pointing out the suspension of Bengaluru city police commissioner B Dayanand for allegedly denying security in writing, Pralhad Joshi asked if Shivakumar didn't call all fans to the celebration on his X account. Shivakumar went to the airport holding a flag to receive the team. "If there is command in the high command of Congress, let them first act against Shivakumar. The leader in opposition Rahul Gandhi goes around the world and talks about everything. Doesn't he know about this incident?" Joshi questioned. The Union minister claimed that even after three people died near Chinnaswamy stadium, the CM, deputy CM, their children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and IAS officers were busy taking selfies near Vidhana Soudha before the RCB team set out to the stadium. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch CFD với công nghệ và tốc độ tốt hơn IC Markets Đăng ký Undo "Isn't this an unforgivable crime?" he asked. The govt's decision to inquire into the incident by a promoted IAS officer was done in haste. Only after the high court took suo motu cognizance of the stampede were senior police officers placed under suspension to cover up the lapses, he claimed. Bengaluru police commissioner B Dayananda is an efficient officer. The state govt has given the reason that they haven't denied permission in the letter, but the CM himself tweeted about the celebration in front of Vidhana Soudha, and as a result, fans gathered in large numbers because of an open call, he said. "If Dayanand didn't give permission for the event, then why did the deputy CM go to the event? What moral responsibility will the CM take for the call made? Didn't Shivakumar feel ashamed to kiss the IPL trophy even after fans died?" he asked. Get the latest lifestyle updates on Times of India, along with Eid wishes , messages , and quotes !
