DKS' behaviour was dadagiri: Joshi
Mysuru: Demanding the resignation of the chief minister and deputy chief minister in connection with the Bengaluru stampede that claimed 11 lives, Union minister Pralhad Joshi censured DCM DK Shivakumar for his alleged behaviour, describing it as a kind of dadagiri on the day of the incident.
Shivakumar acted like a bully all day, and he shouldn't continue in his position for even a moment. Both CM Siddaramaiah and DCM DK Shivakumar should resign immediately, the minister told reporters in Mysuru.
Pointing out the suspension of Bengaluru city police commissioner B Dayanand for allegedly denying security in writing, Pralhad Joshi asked if Shivakumar didn't call all fans to the celebration on his X account.
Shivakumar went to the airport holding a flag to receive the team. "If there is command in the high command of Congress, let them first act against Shivakumar. The leader in opposition Rahul Gandhi goes around the world and talks about everything.
Doesn't he know about this incident?" Joshi questioned.
The Union minister claimed that even after three people died near Chinnaswamy stadium, the CM, deputy CM, their children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and IAS officers were busy taking selfies near Vidhana Soudha before the RCB team set out to the stadium.

He said India, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is modernising its maritime sector through policy reform, infrastructure investment, and international collaboration. 'India's vast coastline and heavy reliance on sea trade -- over 90 per cent of its volume -- make the maritime sector a central pillar of its economic strategy,' the minister noted. He also shared the government's plans to scale up maritime education and workforce, aiming to increase India's maritime professionals from 7.86 million to nearly 40 million by 2047. He highlighted a sharp rise in women seafarers, from just 1,699 in 2014 to over 7,000 in 2024, as a sign of the country's focus on diversity and inclusion. His visit was marked by a detailed conversation with maritime professionals and faculty members, focusing on India's commitment to sustainable development and economic growth. The event underlined India's deepening ties with Denmark and its increasing engagement with global academic and professional institutions in the maritime field.

Raghubar slams govt for non-implementation of PESA Act
Dumka: Former chief minister Raghubar Das on Saturday criticised the state govt for being indifferent towards the implementation of the Panchayats (Extension to the Scheduled Areas) (PESA) Act, 1996, in the state. Das said, "The tribal society has been deprived of the benefits of the Union govt funds due to the non-implementation of the PESA Act though the community comprises the major support base of JMM, which is the ruling party in the state govt coalition. Jharkhand lost the Rs 1,400crore allotted by the central finance commission in the 2024-25 financial year as the state govt failed to introduce the PESA Act during its subsequent terms. The situation persisted even after JMM promised the electorate to implement the PESA Act in its election manifesto." "The implementation of the PESA Act would ensure 'Abua Raj' in real term as it would provide the traditional self-rule system of the tribal society a legal status in the 13 districts, comprising 112 blocks, which fall under the scheduled areas. Amit Shah felicitates Chhattisgarh police officers for historic success in anti-Naxal operation
RAIPUR: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday met with Chhattisgarh's senior police and intelligence officers who played a pivotal role in recent anti-Naxal operations in LWE affected regions. Shah felicitated Chhattisgarh Director General of Police Arun Dev Gautam, Vivekananda Sinha, additional DG (Anti-Naxal ops), P Sundarraj, Bastar range inspector general of police and three SPs. The meeting took place in New Delhi, where Shah personally congratulated the team on what is being hailed as one of the most significant counter-insurgency successes ever in the fight against Left-Wing Extremism. Chhattisgarh chief minister Vishnu Deo Sai and deputy CM Vijay Sharma were present during the meeting. In a post on social media platform X, Shah wrote, 'Met the officers who played a crucial role in the recent anti-Naxal operations and congratulated them on the historic success of these operations. I am eager to meet the brave jawans who made these operations successful with their courage and will soon visit Chhattisgarh to meet them. Modi government is committed to freeing India from the menace of Naxalism.' Shah's remarks come in the wake of a major operation conducted from May 18-21 in Abujhmarh region — one of the most remote and challenging terrains in central India. In a critical encounter on May 21, security forces gunned down 27 Maoists, including the CPI (Maoist) General Secretary and Polit Bureau member Basavaraju alias Gaganna. He was one of the most wanted Maoist leaders in the country. A substantial cache of arms and ammunition was also recovered. Security forces involved in the operation included District Reserve Guard (DRG) units from Narayanpur, Dantewada, Kondagaon, and Bijapur districts, working in coordination under the leadership of top police officials. During the felicitation event, Shah also honoured Prabhat Kumar, SP Narayanpur, Jitendra Yadav, Bijapurand Shalabh Sinha, SP Bastar, in presence of CM Sai, state home minister Sharma, Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan, Director of Intelligence Bureau Tapan Deka, and several senior officers from the Centre and state security apparatus. Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai in a message to Shah said, 'It is due to your strong resolve and inspiring leadership that historic success is becoming possible in the fight against Naxalism in Chhattisgarh. This battle to end red terror is at a decisive turning point, and by March 2026, the complete eradication of Maoism from both the state and the nation is certain.
