Persona 4 remake is happening as actor reveals he was rejected by Atlus
A voice actor from Persona 4 has confirmed a remake is in development, after he 'begged' developer Atlus to be a part of it.
The success of Persona 3 Reload has made another remake in the series practically inevitable, but several rumours in recent months have suggested an announcement could be around the corner.
Earlier this year, singer Shihoko Hirata, who is best known for tracks in Persona 4, appeared to drop a hint she was recording for a new game. Since then, developer Atlus has filed a domain name with a Persona 4 reference, which mirrors the domain name for Persona 3 Reload.
While this evidence already strongly suggested a Persona 4 remake is in development, a voice actor on the original game, Yuri Lowenthal, has now basically confirmed it.
In a post on Bluesky, Lowenthal, who provided the English voice for Yosuke Hanamura in the original game, said he wouldn't be reprising the role in the Persona 4 remake after Atlus turned him down.
'And for those who keep asking, no, I will not be returning as Yosuke for the Persona 4 remake,' Lowenthal wrote. 'I asked. Maybe I even begged, but they don't want me to come back.'
Persona 3 Reload featured an entirely new English voice cast from the original game, so it's possible Atlus is simply committing to the same clean slate for the next remake.
Lowenthal, who voiced the protagonist in the original Persona 3, similarly didn't reprise his role in Persona 3 Reload. However, he did voice another character, Eiichiro Takeba, in the remake – so it's possible the actor could make a guest appearance in the revamped version of Persona 4. More Trending
Along with Yosuke, Lowenthal has voiced a variety of characters in video games, including Peter Parker in Marvel's Spider-Man and the Prince in Prince Of Persia: The Sands Of Time.
Atlus has not officially announced a Persona 4 remake, but a reliable insider recently teased that a 'few Japanese games' will be revealed during Summer Game Fest on Friday, June 6, so it's possible we could see an announcement there.
Along with a Persona 4 remake, fans are waiting on news of the similarly inevitable Persona 6. The game's predecessor, Persona 5, launched over eight years ago and has spawned a multitude of spin-offs since.

Netflix fans 'hooked' on 'unique' new series viewed 16 million times in a week
The five-part series is being hailed a 'masterpiece' by enthralled viewers. Netflix lovers have been enthralled by a new limited series that has already seen over 16 million views, and many have admitted binging the whole thing in one sitting. Featuring Julianne Moore, Meghann Fahy, Milly Alcock, and Kevin Bacon, Sirens debuted on the streaming service on May 22 and has swiftly climbed to the top spot in Netflix's global top 10 list of English TV shows. The five-part drama centres around "scrappy everywoman" Devon (portrayed by The White Lotus actress Meghann), who grows increasingly worried about her sister Simone's (House of the Dragon's Milly) unsettlingly close relationship with her new employer, the mysterious socialite Michaela Kell (Julianne). As Devon's suspicions about Michaela's opulent, cult-like lifestyle intensify, she stages an intervention to reconnect with her sister, oblivious to the challenges she'll encounter in a world far removed from her own, reports Surrey Live. The plot unfolds over a single eventful weekend at the Kells' extravagant beach estate. According to the series' synopsis, Sirens offers a sharp, sensual, and darkly humorous examination of women, power, and class. Viewers are hooked, with the series already boasting a 75 per cent rating on Rotten Tomatoes and a staggering 16,700,000 views. One viewer sung the show's praises on Rotten Tomatoes, saying: "Binged this in one sitting. Very entertaining." Another fan praised: "With superb acting, beautiful scenery of beachfront mansions, and a fast-paced storyline, this show was the perfect summer escape like a good beach read." Someone else remarked: "It's so good I binged it all this morning and I can't get enough of it." A fourth viewer praised the show, sharing: "Sirens is unique and special. I got hooked since minute one. A psychological and emotional series with a dark and classy sense of humor. Hands down; this show hits a different level." Equally passionate views were found over on X, where one person stated: "Sirens is a masterpiece. You cannot convince me otherwise. It powerfully exposes how patriarchy and misogyny twist reality, turning women into villains while enabling men to evade accountability and rewrite the narrative in their favor. Insane!!" Another individual openly expressed their admiration: "Ok soooo, Sirens was f**king good. I wish it wasn't a limited series. It was so nuanced and written with an impressive amount of REALITY. That Milly Alcock was acting at a veteran level, it was almost eerie, give her a Globe AND an Emmy." Although Sirens joins shows like Adolescence as a limited series not set for a comeback, The Bold Type's Meghann has hinted that she sees potential for more. Speaking to Variety, she commented: "It ends in a very natural way, but I can imagine what the characters' worlds become." "I, for one, would love to know what happens to Michaela, where she goes. So I think it's definitely within the realm of possibility. We didn't talk about it on set, but I would love to do more." Molly Smith Metzler, whose play Elemeno Pea inspired Sirens and who also created the Netflix series Maid, has sparked some hope among followers. Speaking to Glamour magazine, she conveyed a deep connection with her characters: "These characters are real people to me. I wrote the play 15 years ago. I've been thinking about them this whole time. I could write them until the day I die." Opening up about the potential continuation of the story, she added: "I'd never say never, but could I do them justice in another season? I'd have to think about it." Alongside the selection of graphic snaps showcasing her injuries, the TV actress revealed all. "I fainted at the beach. And fell face first into a boulder," she explained. She continued: "At the hospital, the nurses and doctor went straight into action, more determined to find the cause of my blackout than to stitch up the hole punctured into my face by the rock. "I smiled wryly at them. 'You won't find anything.' I said with a woozy voice..." she added. She then wrote more about the ordeal in a Substack post where she detailed "absent" and "fainting spells" since she was little. Evangeline even revealed how she was checked for epilepsy before the doctors settling for a diagnosis of hypoglycemia without doing any tests. "For a good chunk of my life, I went with that – hypoglycemia. It added up — my metabolism is through the roof and I metabolize sugars, particularly, with [shocking] efficiency," she explained, as per Us Weekly. She went on: "I have come to believe that this 'checking out' is a result of my little soul reaching her limit of what she feels she can cope with in this life, and she 'leaves the building,' so to speak." Evangeline later penned: "That when she has had enough, when the pain becomes too great, the stresses beyond overwhelming, the shattered idealism crushing, my soul exits my body and returns to pure spirit." Fans flocked to the Instagram post, which promoted her full Substack post, to share their well wishes with Evangeline. "Oh my goodness Evangeline! I am sending you all of the healing energy in the world. Take it easy! We're all here for you," penned one. Another added: "Thank you so much for talking about this. Thinking of you." And a third wrote: "Hope you're feeling better and heal up quickly inside and out." Underneath the post, Lilly penned: "Thank you all for your beautiful well wishes." Evangeline's hospital dash and health update comes after she announced she was retiring from acting. Last year, after 20 years on screen, Evangeline said: "I am so filled with joy and contentment today as I live out my vision. "Praise God, I feel so grateful for my blessings.
