Sara Ali Khan recalls lying to her mother about travelling on a local train; ‘upset' Amrita Singh found out through a journalist: ‘There was an accident and…'

Indian Express04-07-2025
Although Sara Ali Khan has often spoken about her close bond with her mother, veteran actor Amrita Singh, there was a time in her teenage years when she didn't tell her mom the whole truth. In a recent interview, Sara recalled travelling on a local train in Mumbai and lying to her mother about it. Amrita Singh later found out — and was upset, especially because a local train accident had occurred around the same time.
During a conversation with RJ Sukriti on BookMyShow Unscripted, Sara revealed that Amrita got to know about her lie through a journalist's phone call. When asked about travelling in a local train, Sara shared, 'I actually have. I lied to my mom about it though. This was years ago. She didn't know that I was on a local train, so I pretended I was at a neighbour's house. A journalist actually called her and told her that I am so proud of the way you have brought up your daughter. I have a photo of her on a local train, can I print it?'
The actor added, 'She was really upset because I was young and there had just been an accident on the local train. She told me to be careful and just basically not lie about my location, more than anything else. So yeah, that was not fun.'

In an interview with Hindustan Times earlier, Sara Ali Khan had opened up about coming to terms with the negativity on social media and how it pinches her to see her mother being affected. Sara said, 'I can fully understand that this is some nameless, frustrated person. But maa toh maa hoti hai. That's the only thing that really gets to me. If I could block her social media, I wouldn't give a damn!'
She continued, 'She reads and pretends there is nothing. It's like the elephant in the room we don't address. But, I know she has read something sad. She doesn't address it, but I can see it on her face. Mujhe acha nahi lagta (I don't feel good).'
On the work front, Sara Ali Khan's Metro…In Dino hit theatres on July 4. Directed by Anurag Basu, the film also features Anupam Kher, Neena Gupta, Konkona Sen Sharma, Pankaj Tripathi, Aditya Roy Kapoor, Ali Fazal, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Saswata Chatterjee, Darshana Bainik, Kush Jotwani, and Rohan Gurbaxani.

Kapil Sharma pokes fun at Udit Narayan's kiss controversy. Kapil Sharma takes a dig at Udit Narayan's kiss controversy In the video, Kapil takes a cheeky dig at Udit Narayan's kiss controversy, telling Shaan, "Shaan bhai aur Udit sir, dono haste haste gaate hain, dono se milne fan stage par aate hain. Yeh baat alag hai ki Shaan bhai jaadu ki jhappi dete hai aur Udit ji toh jaadu ki kardete hain (Shaan bhai and Udit sir both sing with a smile, and fans come on stage to meet both of them. The only difference is that Shaan bhai gives a magical hug, while Udit ji works his magic in a different way)." The promo also captures a humorous exchange between Navjot Singh Sidhu and Kapil. Sidhu quips, "Ishq jinko hai vatan se, khudi ko mitate rahenge. Shamma mehfil main jalti rahegi aur parwaane mehfil main aate rahenge (Those who are in love with their country will keep sacrificing themselves. The flame in the gathering will keep burning, and the moths will keep coming to it)," Kapil joked about Sidhu flirting with Archana Puran Singh and said, "Shamma bhale hi jalti rahe, parwaane aur bhi aate rahenge, jaise hi camera hata, hum Archana ka haath dabate rahenge (Even if the flame keeps burning, more moths will keep coming. Aditya Roy Kapur opens up on balancing praise for looks and recognition for talent: "At least they're not saying something bad"

Aditya Roy Kapur has carved a niche for himself in Bollywood with memorable performances in films like ' Aashiqui 2 ', 'Malang', and, most recently, 'Metro… In Dino'. Yet, despite his growing success, the actor admits that conversations about him often focus more on his looks than his craft. Choosing to focus on the work Rather than letting it affect him, Aditya chooses to focus on his work. 'I guess I do get that, but I don't try to think about it or lose too much sleep over it,' he told Hindustan Times. 'Eventually, water finds its level, and the more work you do, the more it will come to the fore.' The slippery slope of chasing validation For him, chasing validation is a dangerous path. 'If you start thinking, 'I'm not getting this,' you can very easily become cynical and develop a negative attitude. If people are praising you for something, at least they're not saying something bad—so it's fine. Eventually, the work speaks for itself, and people realise your worth over time.' Keeping distance from social media noise In an age dominated by social media, Aditya believes in keeping a healthy distance from online chatter. 'I don't read a lot of stuff about myself. I'm not tuned in that much to my own self. Sometimes ignorance is bliss. You can choose how much you want to clutter or declutter your head,' he said, adding that switching off is an important skill for his mental well-being. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like No annual fees for life UnionBank Credit Card Apply Now Undo Love for the craft above all else At the heart of his career is his love for the craft. 'For me, the part of the job I love most is collaborating on set, working on my character, and just being there doing the work. The rest of it you can simplify by disconnecting and not being too into it.' Aditya Roy Kapur opens up about incident when female fan tried to kiss him: 'She was strong, so I did have to handle it' A career across screens Aditya's journey continues with a mix of big-screen and streaming successes. Alongside hits like Aashiqui 2 (2013) and Malang (2020), he earned praise for his role in the series The Night Manager. He was last seen in Anurag Basu 's Metro… In Dino opposite Sara Ali Khan .

‘Why So Complicated?': Anupam Kher Questions Modern Toilet Symbols

Anupam Kher was seen questioning the complex symbols outside male and female toilets to ask why it could not be as simple as it used to be. Veteran actor Anupam Kher got candid on social media as he expressed his confusion about the signs used in public toilets nowadays. Taking to his Instagram handle, the Metro… In Dino, the actor shared a humorous video where he talked about the unusual symbols used in public toilets to indicate male and female. Sharing the video, Kher commented, 'There's one thing that I don't understand these days. To indicate toilets meant for men and women, they add such images or signs that will often confuse you for some time." Anupam Kher's Humorous Questions About Confusing Public Toilet Signs Anupam Kher was seen questioning the complex symbols outside male and female toilets to ask why it could not be as simple as it used to be. 'This is normal in toilets outside restaurants, dubbing theatres and studios. Why can't they be as simple as they used to be before?" Kher questioned. He then proceeded to show examples from a studio's restroom area, where the symbols outside the toilets required a moment of interpretation, rather than being simple and straightforward. In the concluding part of the video, the actor was seen asking why these symbols have grown so much more complicated when the older indicators were simpler and functioned perfectly. Fan Reactions To make his post broadly relatable, Anupam Kher asked the audience in the caption, 'Does this confusion happen to you???" His fans responded favourably to the post right away, as various fans were seen taking to the comment section to completely agree with the problem. One fan wrote, 'haha TRUE." Another fan commented, 'Ha ha ha! 'Absolutely right." Someone else wrote, 'Full support, sir. Some things are better without adding creativity to them. Seedhe Men's/Women's would be much better." Another fan agreed, saying, 'Yes. Very big confusion." On the Work Front Anupam Kher is currently enjoying the wave of appreciation for his directorial project, Tanvi The Great, which premiered at this year's Cannes Film Festival. Produced by Anupam Kher Studios in collaboration with the National Film Development Corporation, the film follows the heartwarming tale of a young autistic girl who aspires to join the Indian Army and fulfil her late father's dream of saluting the flag at Siachen Glacier.
