Survey Reveals 79% of Women in the UAE See Real Estate as a Key Investment, Yet Remain Cautious
A new survey has revealed that while 79 per cent of women in the UAE recognise the benefits of property investment, the majority have yet to take the plunge — largely due to limited access to mentorship, investment platforms, and clear guidance.
The findings, released at the launch of a new initiative by UK-based property firm Joseph Mews, highlight growing demand among women for resources that enable long-term financial security through real estate. The survey found that 62.5 per cent of female respondents cited lack of access to mentorship and platforms as a key barrier to investing. Remarkably, 100 per cent agreed that real estate investment is essential for building long-term wealth.
Johnny Conran, Managing Partner at Joseph Mews, noted the firm's mission to close this gap by offering tailored education and access to prime UK property opportunities. 'We believe wealth is built through clarity, confidence, and long-term strategy,'
he said.
Complementing these efforts, Merlin Real Estate has introduced peer-based mentorship networks, matching female clients with experienced investors to build trust and confidence. 'Once they get confident, they not only invest but also become our referral partners,'
said co-founder Rohit Bachani.
Despite a growing sense of independence — with 67 per cent of women saying they feel confident making investment decisions — 46 per cent still do not understand the difference between income-generating and capital-growth properties.
In a broader push for inclusion, real estate companies in the region are also nurturing future female leaders. Property Finder's SheForShe programme, now in its third edition, offers mentorship, e-learning, and workshops designed to advance women's careers in the sector.
The message is clear: while interest is high, access and education remain critical to empowering women in the UAE's real estate landscape.

Mahama bids farewell to United Kingdom (UK) envoy, discusses economy, security, regional ties
On Thursday, President John Dramani Mahama bid farewell to the outgoing British High Commissioner to Ghana, Harriet Thompson, expressing gratitude for her four-year tenure and emphasising key areas for ongoing Ghana-United Kingdom cooperation. Mr Mahama lauded the High Commissioner for her 'positive engagements' throughout her time in the country. He reflected on the long-standing historical relationship between Ghana and the UK, describing it as having been 'so far so good'. The president, however, emphasised the mutual need for deeper economic partnerships and trade moving forward. He also noted the dynamic changes in the global landscape, including the diminishing nature of traditional development assistance and the necessity for developing countries like Ghana to strategically reposition themselves. President Mahama also acknowledged the UK's significant support in counter-terrorism efforts, specifically commending cooperation in intelligence gathering and training. 'We appreciate the partnership we have shared in the fight against terrorism,' President Mahama stated. We will continue to rely on the UK for help and cooperation in intelligence gathering and training to prepare ourselves in the event of any attack.' Shifting to regional matters, Mr Mahama updated the High Commissioner on his recent proactive engagements with leaders in the Sahelian countries, including Mali, Burkina Faso, and Niger. 'I am happy to report that it's going well,' he said, detailing the first quarter economic performance report. 'The first quarter report on economic performance indicates a GDP growth of 5.3 per cent, inflation has reduced from 23 per cent to 18 per cent since January, and we hope to bring it down to 13 per cent by the end of the year, so that should create some relief for Ghanaians in terms of the cost of living and we will continue to maintain fiscal discipline.' For her part, High Commissioner Harriet Thompson, who has served in Ghana for over four years, expressed her gratitude for the warm support and cooperation she received during her tenure.
