Akhanda 2 vs OG Clash: Nandamuri Balakrishna and Pawan Kalyan to come together at box office- who will back out?
Nandamuri Balakrishna starrer Akhanda 2 recently dropped its teaser announcing its release on September 25, 2025. While this would lead to a big box office clash with Pawan Kalyan's They Call Him OG, one of the movies is likely to postpone its release.
According to a report by Aakashavaani, only one of the two films will be released on the said date, and the other will be postponed to December. The report details that the distributors have been notified of the postponement, with an official confirmation yet to be made.
While it is unclear which movie it would be, it is interesting to note that OG was initially supposed to release on September 27, 2024, but was postponed due to production delays.
Talking about the Pawan Kalyan starrer, the much-awaited Sujeeth directorial is a gangster actioner featuring the tale of Ojas Gambheera, a fearsome don. After disappearing from Mumbai, he makes a return to the streets of Mumbai in hopes of taking revenge against his nemesis, Omi Bhau.
With Emraan Hashmi playing the main antagonist, the film has actors like Priyanka Arul Mohan, Arjun Das, Prakash Raj, Subhalekha Sudhakar, Sriya Reddy, Harish Uthaman, and many more in key roles.
Interestingly, Pawan Kalyan starrer Hari Hara Veera Mallu also postponed its release once again after multiple delays.
On the other hand, Nandamuri Balakrishna starrer Akhanda 2 - Thaandavam is an action drama, directed and co-written by Boyapati Sreenu. The sequel film features the Padma Bhushan award winner as an Aghora who uses his powers to fight against evil and save the world.

The teaser of the film showcased an unmatched aura of NBK, prompting a grander second installment in the franchise. The movie's first installment, titled Akhanda, was released in 2021 and was a massive success despite mixed reviews.
The flick featured the actor in dual roles as twin brothers, where the mystical and powerful Aghora comes to help his sibling.
Apart from him, the movie featured actors like Pragya Jaiswal, Jagapathi Babu, Srikanth, Nithin Mehta, Poorna, Avinash, and more in key roles.

Film stars with political ambitions often leverage their popular on-screen personas to launch political careers. While this can provide a powerful launchpad, it often comes with the risk of diminishing their box-office appeal. The latest to face this conundrum are top southern movie stars Vijay, who launched a political party in February to contest next year's Tamil Nadu assembly polls, and Pawan Kalyan, who is serving as deputy chief minister of Andhra Pradesh. Their films are slated for release in the coming months, but trade experts warn of muted box-office performance, as they may no longer enjoy the universal appeal that transcended political ideologies. The past record of multiple actors-turned-politicians shows that a broad section of audiences begins to feel alienated, as film stars start catering to a target vote bank following their political plunge, experts said. When you're just a star, everyone is your market and audience, whereas a political name is often seen aligned with certain values and segments. While a cinematic superhero image can help actors get into politics, the two domains are hardly complimentary, Chauhan added. Vijay's next film Jana Nayagan is set for a Pongal 2026 release even as his party Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam makes its electoral debut in the 2026 Tamil Nadu assembly elections, while Pawan Kalyan has titles like Hari Hara Veera Mallu: Part 1 and OG slated to arrive in theatres over the coming months. In 2018, Rajinikanth's action drama Kaala had registered lacklustre opening collections after the actor caused a stir by describing anti-Sterlite protesters in Thoothukudi as 'anti-social elements". More recently, Thug Life did not release in Karnataka after Haasan's comments on the Kannada language drew backlash. At a gathering held to commemorate him turning 65, Nandamuri Balakrishna reflected on both — including a surprising story about almost becoming a doctor — and the unexpected turns that shaped the arc of his life. Recalling an episode from his youth, Balakrishna spoke about a surprising twist orchestrated by his father, the legendary NT Rama Rao. 'After I completed my intermediate studies, my father insisted I write the medical entrance exam . I got the hall ticket just 10 minutes before the exam and answered it randomly,' he said, amused by the memory. 'Later, he asked if I'd enrolled for MBBS, and I was taken aback. This was the same man who always introduced me by saying, 'This is Bala — he will become an actor.' Though medicine didn't happen, Balakrishna noted with a smile, 'I did end up playing a doctor in Simha.' Even after 50 years as a hero, Balakrishna isn't looking to exit the frame — and he makes no apologies for it. 'People think I'm rude or arrogant because I'm persistent. But I don't let that affect me,' he said, adding, 'There's nothing more important than knowing who you are. Self-love matters more than any external judgement.' He signed off saying, 'I don't believe in numbers. Our mind holds far more strength than we realise. If we train it right — along with the body — we can achieve anything.' TNN
