Anthony Albanese is slammed as the PM reveals his top ten Australian songs of all time: 'What a disgrace!'

Daily Mail12 hours ago
Anthony Albanese has shared his favourite Aussie songs to social media.
But it turns out the Prime Minister's constituents are less than enthused with his musical taste - nor his choice to make a fun Instagram post instead of discussing national and international policy.
Radio station Triple J is currently calling for votes for their Hottest 100 of Australian Songs and the PM decide to weigh in on Instagram.
At number one, Albanese listed The Angels track Am I Ever Gonna See Your Face Again and at number two, Cold Chisel's Flame Trees.
At number three was The Fauves with Dogs Are The Best People and at five, The Go-Betweens with Cattle and Cane.
From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop.
The rest of the list included You Am I with Purple Sneakers, Hunters & Collectors with Throw Your Arms Around Me, The Triffids with their tune Wide Open Road and Spiderbait's Buy Me a Pony.
He also listed off Midnight Oil with Beds Are Burning and at number ten was Paul Kelly's song How To Make Gravy.
'Hard to narrow down to just 10' Albanese wrote in his caption alongside his list.
His followers were less than impressed, with many slating the politician for choosing to share a frivolous social media post instead of addressing larger issues like the war in Palestine.
'Your PR team going in overdrive to try and make you seem human / relatable… but there is NOTHING relatable to a PM who has absolutely lost touch with his humanity' wrote one person.
'This post is SO tone deaf it is shocking' wrote someone else while one more commented, 'NO ONE CARES what you picks are.'
Another said: 'Seriously??? This is what gets posted??? Far out. What a disgrace.
Not everyone was angered by the post, with one fan saying, 'This is the same guy who hosted Rage, he knows what he's doing'.
One more commented: 'Well done Albo. How about Treaty by Yothu Yindu? It's time!'
It comes after the Prime Minister cane under fire for pushing climate change policy while owning a 'climate criminal' dog by a top columnist.
A US study published in June found that not owning a pet was one of the best ways everyday people could keep their carbon emissions low.
Taking one fewer flight or eating lower-carbon meats were also effective behaviours identified in the PNAS Nexus report.
The finding was leapt on by The Daily Telegraph columnist Tim Blair who suggested Albanese should give up his beloved cavoodle Toto if he is calling for climate action.
'It's time for Albo to turn Toto over to the authorities, because it turns out that little cavoodle of his is an awful climate criminal,' Blair wrote.
'Cavoodle Toto may be way smaller than other "oodle" varieties, such as the Bernese Mountain doodle, the Irish wolfhoodle and the fearsome pit boodle, but she's got one hell of a carbon pawprint.
'That's because Toto occasionally rides on Prime Ministerial flights.
'She's probably racked up more air time than any dog since Snoopy took on the Red Baron.'
Blair quipped that 'it should be curtains for the PM's companion critter' in order to help nature balance itself.
Toto is regularly photographed with Albanese, including on election day, and has her own X account.
The Age even has an an article page dedicated to Australia's first dog.

Holly Valance and Nick Candy's shock split turns messy as ex-Neighbours star vows to take billionaire ‘for every penny'

HOLLY Valance has vowed to take estranged billionaire husband Nick Candy 'for every penny' after their recent split, we can reveal. The Aussie pop star, 42, has told friends she feels like the 'injured party' in the break up from the 52-year-old because it was 'not on her terms'. 4 4 It comes a week after The Sun revealed ex-Neighbours star Holly and Brit property magnate and Reform UK treasurer Nick had ended their 14-year marriage. A source said: 'Holly is incredibly upset. Her main concern is, and always will be, for their two daughters. 'But when it comes to the divorce, she's made it clear she wants what she's owed and will take Nick for every penny. She insists that she is the injured party in this.' It is understood the pair signed a pre-nuptial agreement before they tied in the knot in 2012 in a lavish £3million wedding. The source added: 'It's been a very painful time for Holly and she has told friends that the split was not on her terms. 'Given the circumstances it feels as if there could be some room to manoeuvre. 'Whatever the sum ends up being, it will be in the tens of millions of pounds.' Holly, whose 2002 debut album produced three Top Ten hits, was seen for the first time since the news of the split earlier this week. She was not wearing her engagement or wedding ring as she got off a flight landing at London's Heathrow. In a statement, a spokesman for her and Nick confirmed they were divorcing, adding 'This is a private matter. We won't be making any further comment.' Holly Valance and billionaire property tycoon Nick Candy 'SPLIT' - 13 years after lavish Las Vegas wedding The pair were last photographed together in March going for lunch in London. They first met in 2009 and Nick proposed two years later in the Maldives. They married in California in front of 300 guests, including Simon Cowell. Holly found fame on Australian TV soap Neighbours as Felicity Scully before launching her pop career. Nick started his property business with brother Christian in the early Nineties while working in advertising. They now have a vast portfolio, including One Hyde Park, an 86-apartment building in central London worth just over £1billion. Last year, Nick announced he had given up his Tory Party membership in favour of Reform. He was appointed treasurer in December and pledged to raise tens of millions for Farage, including pledging a seven figure sum. 4

Tense moment Ex-Senator slams colleague over embarrassing leaked email

A former Liberal Senator has lashed out at her own party following the leak of an email from a newly elected colleague, who had asked members not to leak internal discussions. The email, sent by Senator Jess Collins and made public on Thursday, reveals her staunch opposition to gender quotas and her frustrations with internal party divisions. In the message, Collins argues quotas are unnecessary, insisting that candidates should be chosen on merit. She points to the NSW State Liberals who achieved gender parity without any formal mandates. Collins also takes aim at 'factional hacks' she claims are clinging to power within the party. Appearing on Sky News, former Senator Hollie Hughes, who lost her seat to Collins in the 2024 preselection, did not hold back. Hughes said she received a flurry of messages that morning about Collins' 'please don't leak' email, with most people mocking it. Hughes said, noting her 'surprise' that the message focused on internal matters rather than holding the Albanese Government to account. Hughes mentions that it was peculiar that Collins ran on a platform of foreign affairs expertise, but made no mention foreign policy in the email. Listing her own work on Senate committees and shadow portfolios, Hughes questioned how Collins' campaign for 'merit-based' selection stacked up. 'I'm not sure how I missed out on that when it came to merit' Hughes said. Hughes then slammed Collins over her role in unseating her during the preselection battle. 'What gave me a chuckle, when a woman knocks off a sitting female Senator in shadow portfolios and claims, A. Merit, and B. 'I'm supporting women',' she said. During a panel discussion, journalist Joe Hildebrand asked how Collins was preselected, and whether factional support played a role. Hughes responded with a sarcastic jab, 'How did she get there?' she said, before bursting out laughing. 'Honey, so what happens is, everyone else is a big bad faction. But my faction isn't a faction. I got elected because I was amazing,' Hughes said, mimicking Collins in a mocking tone. Collins had the backing of the Liberal Party's Right faction, led federally by former Shadow Treasurer Angus Taylor, who unsuccessfully challenged Sussan Ley for the leadership. Hughes, who supported Ley in the leadership vote, was backed by the Centre-Right faction led by NSW powerbroker Alex Hawke. Hughes wished Collins well in the future, and said she hoped Collins learned from the email debacle. 'I know that you don't send an email with please don't leak this, that's like flagging a red rag to a bull'. A review into the Liberal Party's devastating election loss is underway, with a second probe ordered by leader Sussan Ley to confront the deeper, existential challenges threatening the party's future. Parliament will sit for the first time since the election on July 22.

Since her exit, Hannah has appeared in episodes of Doctors, The Bill, New Tricks and Holby City. She swapped the UK for Australia over adecade ago and made waves starring in Aussie dramas. Now based in Sydney, Hannah's credits include the Aussie-Indonesian hit Bali 2002. But, her new gig on Home and Away marks a proper return to the soap scene. This year, the iconic Aussie soap celebrated a whopping 35 years on air, with special reruns on a dedicated channel to mark the milestone. Forgotten soap star shows off huge £27million LA mansion after quitting fame and marrying a multimillionaire Home and Away first hit screens on January 17, 1988. Channel 5 snapped up the rights in 2000 - and they've been pumping out fresh episodes ever since. A source said: 'Hannah moved to Australia years ago for a new life but she's still acting. 'She loved dipping her toes back into the world of soap briefly and who knows it could mean she finds her way back more permanently.' Forgotten soap storylines The nation's soaps have had many gripping storylines play out over the years. However, some plots proved to be far less memorable. Here are some forgotten stories from Weatherfield, Walford and more... Coronation Street Ken and Audrey's romance (2015): After the death of wife Deirdre (Anne Kirkbride), Coronation Street original Ken Barlow (William Roache) started to move on in his life. He started to develop a spark with old friend Audrey (Sue Nicholls), with then-Corrie boss saying it would be like "Ross and Rachel". In the end, nothing ever came of it and the two remained platonic pals. Beth's bigamy (2016): Despite being happily married to Kirk (Andrew Whyment), a troubling secret came to light about Beth Tinker (Lisa George). It transpired that she had never divorced from her first husband, Darryl (Paul Loughran), father of her son Craig (Colson Smith). Although Craig and Kirk were shocked - and Beth was arrested - the storyline didn't didn't go much further. EastEnders Kat Slater's secret son (2017): Capitalising on the popularity of Kat (Jessie Wallace) and Alfie (Shane Richie), the two received a spin-off back in 2017. Titled 'Redwater', it saw the two travel to Ireland where they met long-lost son Luke, now called Dermott Dolan, played by Oisín Stack. Despite the high-tension events during Redwater, Kat seems to have put the experience behind her as Dermott's not been mentioned since. Alfie's brain tumour (2015): Having learned in 2015 that he had a brain tumour, Alfie kept the news from Kat until their trip to Ireland. At the time, actor Shane Ritchie revealed fans would see a change in Alfie as he battled the illness. It would appear that at some point after leaving the Square, was told the tumour was non-malignant. By the time Alfie returned in 2022, fans were left confused over what had happened to the storyline. Kathy and Buster's affair (2016): In 2016, Walford legend Kathy Beale (Gillian Taylforth) fell into the arms of convict Buster Briggs, played by Karl Howman. Buster was the long-time lover of Shirley Carter (Linda Henry) and fathered both her sons - Mick (Danny Dyer) and Dean (Matt Di Angelo). When Buster left, he begged Kathy to join him, but she refused for the sake of her family. Meanwhile Buster didn't even stop to say goodbye to Shirley before exiting with a broken heart. Fans expected a showdown between the two women, but this never came to pass. Emmerdale Jacob's OCD (2016): After his dad, David (Matthew Wolfenden), was diagnosed with testicular cancer in 2016, Jacob (Joe-Warren Plant) developed Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD). This manifested in the form of cleaning. Jacob's OCD made a brief return one year on, after David had another scare after finding a lump. Jacob frantically searched the bins for a 'lucky coin' that had accidentally been thrown away. Despite stressful situations - such as being groomed by his teacher Maya, losing his fiancee Leanna to a serial killer, dealing with mum Leyla's drug addiction, and surviving a stabbing - the condition doesn't appear to have returned. Marlon and Charity's fling (2003): Few fans would likely remember few will remember the one-night stand between Charity (Emma Atkins) and Marlon (Mark Charnock) in 2003. The pair slept together when Charity was staying with Marlon while still under suspicion for husband Chris's supposed "murder". Hollyoaks Alex Browning's revenge plot (2014): Fans expected a confrontation when Dr Browning's son Alex (Ojan Genc) mer stepmum Mercedes McQueen (Jennifer Metcalfe). After all, Mercedes, with Cindy Cunningham (Stephanie Waring) and Lindsey Butterfield (Sophie Austin) had murdered Alex's dad, double-murderer Dr Paul Browning, after he kidnapped and attacked his new wife. In fact, the soap teased Alex would seek revenge for his father's death upon arriving. However, he instead gave Cindy's son Hilton (his half-brother) a life-saving transplant, became his godfather, and leaving the village soon after. The new role comes three years after Hannah tied the knot to former The Bill star husband Huw Higginson. Huw is most notable for his ten-year role in The Bill as PC George Garfield. Huw posted a celebratory shot showing their special day in October 2022 as they posed with their son Jack, 11, on a boat in Sydney. The Bill actor gushed in his caption: "Got married to my love yesterday. We had the best of days." Hannah can be seen gazing lovingly at her spouse as they celebrated their special day. She wore a patterned, long-sleeve blue frock - perhaps as her something blue - complete with gold strappy sandals and a navy pashmina. She clutched a bouquet of cream flowers and accessorised with a pair of sunglasses. The happy couple made the move to Australia in 2014. It came after Hannah married fellow EastEnders star Ricky Groves in 2006. But, the pair separated in 2010 and divorced in 2014. 4 4
