Ludhiana: Robbery plan foiled as man held with arms
The Ludhiana rural police on Friday claimed to have foiled a robbery bid by arresting a person and have arrested a man and seizing illegal weapons from his possession. The accused was found carrying two pistols — a .32 bore and a .30 bore — besides a stolen car that he and his friend had earlier taken.
The arrested man has been identified as Harshdeep Singh, also known as Harsh, a resident of Majri village. His accomplice Sarabjot Singh, also from the same village, has been named in the case but is on the run.
Deputy superintendent of police (DSP, Dakha) Varinder Singh Khosa said a team from Jodhan police station arrested Harshdeep Singh on Friday after finding two illegal pistols with him.
During interrogation, Harshdeep admitted that he and his friend Sarabjot were planning to commit a robbery. Harshdeep also told the police that he and Sarabjot had earlier stolen a Maruti Suzuki Baleno and had changed its number plates. Based on his statement, the police were able to recover the stolen car.
The DSP added that a hunt is on for the arrest of the accused.

Sangrur: Fake trading scam busted, 10 arrested
Sangrur: The Sangrur police have busted a fake trading platform scam, arresting 10 persons who defrauded a resident of Sunam, Karnveer Kansal, of around ₹18 lakh, said superintendent of police (SP) Dilpreet Singh on Thursday. Sharing more details, deputy superintendent of police (DSP) Gurpreet Singh said that Kansal was initially approached through a WhatsApp group and enticed to invest in the share market via a fraudulent online platform. Between January and February 2025, Kansal was repeatedly pressured into transferring money in multiple installments to several bank accounts controlled by the scammers. An FIR was registered in March 2025 under Sections 318(4) and 61(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Following the registration of the complaint, the police launched coordinated raids across several locations, including Sri Ganganagar (Rajasthan), Abohar, and Mohali, leading to the arrest of the accused, the DSP said. Of the 10 persons arrested, eight were detained from Mohali, while two others were apprehended a week earlier. The arrested individuals are from diverse regions, including Sri Ganganagar (Rajasthan), Abohar, Janeja (Ludhiana), Patna, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, and Faridabad (Haryana). During the arrests, police recovered 17 mobile phones, six chequebooks, five ATM cards and a passport. Authorities believe the gang operated across multiple locations, using various fraudulent platforms to dupe victims into making large monetary transfers.

20 Complaints Received at District Police Office on Grievance Day
Gadwal: As part of the weekly Grievance Day held every Monday for the convenience of the public, 20 complaints were received today at the District Police Office from various parts of the district. District Superintendent of Police, Sri T. Srinivasa Rao, IPS, personally received and reviewed the petitions in the presence of the DSP and Circle Inspectors. Speaking on the occasion, SP Srinivasa Rao said that Grievance Day is an opportunity for citizens who feel that justice has not been delivered at their local police stations to directly bring their concerns to senior officials and seek resolution. The SP personally examined each complaint and spoke to concerned police officers over the phone, issuing immediate instructions to take necessary legal action without delay. He also provided specific guidance regarding the investigation and resolution of each case. The SP directed officials to submit a report on the action taken so far on each complaint.

3 Bangladeshis who escaped from H'bag detention centre held
Hazaribag: All three Bangladeshi nationals, who had escaped from the detention centre on the central jail campus in Hazaribag on Monday, were traced and arrested from different locations including Bengal border following a massive manhunt, Hazaribag SP Anjani Anjan said on Tuesday. Those who had escaped are Reena Khan a.k.a Fina Devi from Ghazipur in Bangladesh, Nipah Akhtar Khushi from Chattogram and Mohammad Nazmul Hang from Bagerhat. They were brought to the detention centre from different jails in Jharkhand at different points in time. Addressing the media, SP said that the trio had planned the escape on June 8. He added that considering the seriousness of the incident, they are also probing whether any outsiders helped them escape from the camp. "We promptly formed an SIT under the leadership of Amit Kumar Anand, additional SP-cum-DSP headquarters, who conducted raids based on technical inputs and nabbed all three," he said, adding that Kolkata and Bengal Police too assisted them. Two of the female detainees were held from Bongao in North 24 Parganas in Bengal along the Bangladesh border. One of them was arrested at Dhanbad railway station. "Teams were sent in different directions based on the pre-emptive routes and inputs," he said. The SP said that teams were sent to Tisri in Giridih and Mihijam in Jamtara. The team present in the detention centre kept collecting information and giving necessary instructions to the teams sent out. "Soon a central monitoring team was also formed in my office with the help of which two teams were sent to Bongao and Kolkata in West Bengal. Two arrests were made from Bongao and one from Dhanbad railway station," he added. The SP said the trio travelled the whole night to Dhanbad railway station and then to the Bangladesh border at Bongao. The team which went to Bongao arrested Nipah and Nazmul with the help of Bengal and local police. The team which went to Kolkata chased Reena Khan alias Reena Devi on the basis of information received from SP Hazaribag and technical Cell and other human inputs. This team was being led by sub-inspector Rana Manu Pratap Singh, in-charge of Padma OP, who with the help of GRP Dhanbad and Kolkata Police chased and arrested Reena from Dhanbad railway station. When asked about the intention of the detainees to escape, the SP said their term of punishment was ending, and they wanted to stay in India. He said, "They will now be tried in court under Indian law as cases against them were filed for violation of the Foreigners Act. They will not be sent to the foreigner's detention camp.
