Speeding car drags man hanging on bonnet for over a kilometer at Kharadi bypass
In an incident of road rage, a speeding car hit a cab at Kharadi bypass chowk, then dragged the cab driver on its bonnet for about a kilometer, on Tuesday morning, police said.
Police have arrested the car driver identified as Vishnu Prabhakar Sable (22), resident of Pimpri Sandas, in this case. Police constable Sachin Chavan, attached to the traffic control branch, lodged the first information report (FIR) in this case at the Vimantal police station.
As per the FIR, Chavan was on duty at the Viman Nagar junction on Tuesday. Around 10.30 am, while managing the traffic at the spot, he saw a man holding on to a bonnet of a speeding car going towards Pune from the Kharadi bypass on the Pune – Ahilyanagar highway.
People watching the speeding car started shouting. Some people intercepted the car and stopped it. Chavan too rushed to the spot and nabbed the car driver identified as Vishnu Sabale. Meanwhile, the man who was hanging onto the bonnet got down safely. Police have identified him as Navnath Shantaram Kasar (40) of Kirti Nagar, Sangvi.
As stated in the FIR, both Sabale and Kasar are private cab drivers. Kasar told the police that he dropped a passenger to Hinjewadi around 6 am in his cab. Then he dropped another passenger at Kharadi bypass on the Pune-Ahilyanagar highway. After leaving this passenger, he started driving towards Pune, when his cab was hit on the rear side by Sabale's car around 10.15 am.
Kasar came out of his cab and tried to stop Sabale. However, as mentioned in the FIR, Sabale allegedly accelerated his car towards Kasar. Due to it Kasar fell on the bonnet of Sabale's car. Still, Sabale continued to drive even as Kasar was holding on to his car's bonnet. Sabale dragged Kasar in this position dangerously from Kharadi bypass chowk to the Viman Nagar junction, police said.
Constable Chavan detained Sabale and brought him to the Vimantal police station for further action. Police booked Sabale under Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) sections 281 (rash driving), 125 (acts endangering life or personal safety) and sections of the Motor Vehicle Act, the FIR stated.

Crime branch busts ‘money rain' racket; 3 held from Sambhajinagar hotel for duping people with black magic claims
Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: The city crime branch on Thursday arrested three men from a posh hotel on Jalna Road for allegedly duping people by claiming they could make money rain from the sky using black magic rituals. The suspects were staying at the hotel for extended periods while posing as mystics and conning unsuspecting victims. The raid was carried out in the early hours of Thursday, following which the accused — identified as Vikas Uttarwar, a resident of Khadki Bazar in Himayatnagar tehsil of Nanded, Vilas Kohile from Jurud village in Vaijapur tehsil, and Shankar Kajale of Chikalthana in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district — have been arrested and handed over to the Kranti Chowk police station. City commissioner of police Pravin Pawar said the arrests were made following a tip-off that some suspicious individuals were residing at the hotel near Baba Petrol Pump for several months. The inputs indicated they were possibly engaged in fraudulent and superstitious activities. His accomplices, Kohile and Kajale, were residing in another room booked under a Pune-based man's name since April 18 this year. During the search, officials seized fake currency notes along with items typically used in occult rituals, such as vermillion, various dried roots and dried coconuts. These items were allegedly used by the trio to convince victims of their supernatural powers and ability to bring instant wealth. "The accused created a setup that appeared mystical to deceive gullible people. They convinced victims that money would fall from the sky after performing certain rituals," said a senior officer from the investigation team.
