JB student pleads guilty to owning pornographic images
Wearing a white T-shirt and a face mask, the teenager was accompanied by his father in court and was charged under Section 292(a) of the Penal Code, New Straits Times reported. The youth's identity was being withheld due to his age.

On April 8 at 5.28pm in Taman Indahpura, the student was found in possession of 14 pornographic images on his smartphone, leading to the charge. Conviction under this section could lead to a jail sentence of up to three years, a fine, or a combination of both.
In a separate charge, the teenager is also accused of generating explicit content involving a 17-year-old. He allegedly edited her photographs into pornographic images on April 9 at 12.40pm.
This second charge falls under Section 5 of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act, to which the accused pleaded not guilty.
Magistrate R. Salini set bail at RM4,000 for each charge, requiring one surety.
The next court mention is scheduled for June 23.
Deputy Public Prosecutor S. Thiviya led the prosecution in the case, while the teenager was represented by his legal counsel.

NGO lodges police report over dog being skinned alive in Melaka
MELAKA: An animal welfare group has lodged a police report after a dog was allegedly skinned alive in an industrial area in Krubong here. Melaka Tengah OCPD Asst Comm Christopher Patit confirmed the matter when contacted. "The police report is currently being lodged," he said on Sunday (Aug 17). Earlier, Persatuan Haiwan Terbiar Malaysia (SAFM) president R. Kalaivanan condemned the act, believed to have taken place on Friday (Aug 15), as 'merciless and inhumane.' "The dog has been euthanised by a veterinarian,' he said when contacted. Kalaivanan called on the Veterinary Services Department to investigate, stressing that acts of animal cruelty should be punished. 'This is a clear case of abuse, and the perpetrator must face the full force of the law,' he said. He said animal abuse is an offence under the Animal Welfare Act 2015, carrying a penalty of up to three years' jail, a fine of RM100,000, or both, upon conviction. Kalaivanan also appealed to the public for help. "We urge witnesses to come forward and help stop such cruelty,' he added.

Dog found skinned in Melaka, animal rights group seeks justice
THE Stray Animal Foundation Malaysia (SAFM) has condemned a shocking act of animal cruelty in Krubong, Melaka, where a dog was found with its skin removed in the Krubong Industrial Area. SAFM is calling on the police and the Department of Veterinary Services (DVS) to immediately investigate the incident and take decisive action against those responsible. 'Animal abuse is a serious offense and must be addressed under the law,' the association said in a statement on Facebook.
