Bicyclist identified after fatal crash on Edison Highway

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The Kern County Coroner's Office has identified a man fatally struck by a vehicle in east Bakersfield on Friday.
On Feb. 28, Anthony Sanchez, 68, was pronounced dead at the scene of the wreck, on Edison Highway just west of Webster Street. The California Highway Patrol said Sanchez was riding his bicycle at 6:51 p.m. in the opposite lane of travel, against traffic, when he was hit by a truck.

The Chevrolet Silverado was traveling westbound on Highway 58 at the time of the crash. The driver was unable to evade the bicyclist and hit Sanchez with the front end of the truck.
Alcohol and/or drugs do not appear to be a factor in this incident. The driver of the Chevrolet immediately stopped near the scene and cooperated with the investigation.

According to a media release from the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department, Smith, 24, was driving a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck on Sunday night in Nashville, traveling northbound on 3rd Avenue North, as Dorothy Dobbins, 77, was crossing the roadway. State police identify Mass. driver killed in New Hampshire crash

State police have identified a Massachusetts driver who died in a single-vehicle crash in Salisbury on Monday. Brian L. Young, 63, of Andover, Massachusetts died when the 2022 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck he was driving crashed into a tree, state police said Tuesday. At 3:30 a.m. Monday, state police dispatch received a report of a single-vehicle crash on North Road. The caller reported that a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck had crashed into a tree and the driver was unconscious. When emergency crews arrived, they found Young dead at the scene, state police said. Troopers and members of the Salisbury Fire Department and the Penacook Rescue Squad responded.
