Judge denies immunity for Edmond police officer accused of killing brother
OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) – An Oklahoma County district judge has denied an Edmond police officer's request for immunity in her first-degree manslaughter case.
Jennifer Haddock was arrested and charged for the death of her brother, Sean, in August 2023. She was off duty at the time of the shooting, which took place at her mother's apartment in Edmond.
Haddock and her attorney were seeking immunity under Oklahoma's Stand Your Ground Law. Judge Susan Stallings denied her request on Monday.
Court records stated Haddock failed to meet guidelines that would justify immunity.
Records stated that Haddock was considered a 'trespasser' which meant that she could 'potentially engage in an unlawful activity.' Haddock's mother had been living in the Spring Creek Apartments, and she was letting her son, Sean, temporarily live with her.

In court documents, the judge also said Haddock was asked to 'remove her gun from the apartment' by her mother but Haddock 'refused.'
Multiple hearings on the case were postponed until December 2024 when Haddock's attorney requested the case be dismissed under the Stand Your Ground law. This law includes the use of deadly force if someone reasonably believes it is necessary to prevent death or great bodily harm.
During the December hearing, Haddock's attorney argued she was in an unpredictable and dangerous situation involving her brother.
The state argued the incident did not reach that level and that Haddock was never 'in fear for her life.'
She is scheduled to make her next court appearance for a preliminary hearing February 5, 2025.

Person of interest in deadly Orange Mound shooting identified
MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A photo has been released of a person of interest in a shooting that killed a man at a convenience store in Orange Mound last week. On June 2, officers say they responded to a shooting call at Save-A-Stop 1 on 1461 Pendleton Street, where a man was found on the ground suffering from a gunshot wound. The man was pronounced dead at the scene. Second arrest made in Hickory Hill gas station shooting Investigators say video footage showed the man was involved in a verbal argument with a man, later identified as 'Ray Ray', before the shooting. They say the video captured 'Ray Ray' going around to the south side of the store, which was out of camera view. The victim is then seen walking around the corner of the store with an unidentified woman wearing a green shirt and black pants, also walking the same way as 'Ray Ray.' After the shooting, police say 'Ray Ray' was seen getting into a white, 4-door Chrysler 300 with a black hood, and leaving the scene going westbound on Deadrick Avenue. The unidentified woman was seen running northbound on Pendleton Street. No arrests have been made at this time. But this is still an ongoing investigation.
