Single's Inferno Fame Hong Jin-Kyung Confirms Divorce After 22 Years: 'I Still Keep In Touch'
South Korean TV personality and former model Hong Jin-Kyung has confirmed her divorce from businessman Kim Jung-Woo after 22 years of marriage. The couple, who tied the knot in 2003 after dating for five years, share a daughter, Rael (Kim Rachel), born in 2010 after a challenging seven-year fertility journey. The news was confirmed by Hong herself through a candid appearance on her close friend Jeong Seon Hee's YouTube channel, marking the first time she publicly addressed the matter.
While the separation has shocked fans, industry insiders and close acquaintances were reportedly aware of the situation for several months. According to an OSEN report quoted by AllKpop, even some reporters had chosen not to disclose the news earlier out of respect for Hong's privacy and her agency's request.
Explaining her decision to go public now, Hong said she carefully considered how and when to share such personal news. 'The agency was informed about the divorce roughly a month ago," an insider revealed, noting that the YouTube recording took place 3-4 days prior. 'Since the two are close friends and trusted colleagues, it was decided that her channel would be the most appropriate platform."
During the conversation, Hong revealed that her former mother-in-law had asked her to delay announcing the news until their daughter was older. Rael is now 15.
Despite the separation, Hong and her ex-husband remain on amicable terms. In a light-hearted exchange, Jeong joked, 'I wasn't sure whether I should delete his number," to which Hong replied with a smile, 'Why would you do that? I still keep in touch with him. The three of us should grab drinks sometime." When teased about the possibility of getting back together, Hong laughed and said, 'That's not how I see relationships."
Hong Jin-Kyung began her career as a model in 1993 and went on to become a beloved TV personality. She currently appears on shows like The Reasonable Architecture (MBC), Problem Child in House (KBS2), and also actively runs her YouTube channel Zzin Genius Hong Jin Kyung.
