ASHA, Mamta workers to get increased incentives: CM
He also announced to double the incentive of 'Mamta' health workers from Rs 300 to Rs 600 per delivery.
In a post on X, Nitish said, "Since the formation of the govt in Nov 2005, we have undertaken extensive efforts to improve healthcare services. The ASHA and Mamta workers have played a crucial role in enhancing healthcare in rural areas. In recognition of their significant contributions to strengthening healthcare in the rural areas, it has been decided to increase their remuneration."
"ASHA workers will now receive an incentive of Rs 3,000 instead of Rs 1,000 per month. Additionally, Mamta workers will be provided with an incentive of Rs 600 instead of Rs 300 per delivery. This will boost their morale and further strengthen healthcare services in rural areas," the CM said in his post in Hindi.
Senior JD(U) functionary Ashok Choudhary described the decision to increase the incentives of ASHA and Mamta workers as "historic and welfare oriented".

Choudhary said, "This decision is a testament to the sensitivity and public commitment of the CM Nitish Kumar. It will provide financial support to a large number of ASHA and Mamta workers and bring new energy to the healthcare system in rural areas."
Reacting to CM's announcement, the leader of opposition in state assembly Tejashwi Prasad Yadav said he had initiated the process of increasing the incentive amount for ASHA and Mamta workers during his 17-month tenure as the state health minister.
Yadav, in a post on X, said, "During my 17-month tenure as health minister, I had initiated the process of increasing the incentive amount for ASHA and Mamta workers, which was in its final stage, but then the CM, as usual, took the U-turn (formed govt with support of the BJP)."
Yadav also alleged, "The NDA govt had been sitting on it (proposal to increase incentive) for two years. Finally, they had to bow down to our demand and increase the incentive amount for ASHA and Mamta workers."

The approximate budget for the trial is Rs 1.3 to 1.5 crore per site, Jadhav said. Live Events According to ICMR, there is no specific antiviral treatment or licensed vaccines for dengue and the treatment is supportive in nature, Jadhav said. A total of 5,73,563 laboratory confirmed dengue cases were reported through the Integrated Health Information Platform (IHIP) in 2024, according to information shared by the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) , . According to ICMR, all four serotypes of the dengue virus (DENV-1, DENV-2, DENV-3, and DENV -4) are known to circulate and co-circulate in India. Multiple serotypes can be present in the same geographical region and can even infect the same individual at the same time. Hence, participants have been enrolled in the ICMR vaccine trial from different zones where these four serotypes circulate in order to test the efficacy of the vaccine against all four serotypes, Jadhav said. The minister also said that the Union Health Ministry, Director General of Health Services, and National Centre for Vector Borne Disease Control (NCVBDC) regularly monitor the situation of dengue outbreaks across the country for assessing the disease situation, preparedness, technical guidance and to sensitise and forewarn the states. Under the National Health Mission, adequate budgetary support is provided to states and Union territories for dengue control activities such as epidemic preparedness, monitoring, case management, vector control (provision of domestic breeding checkers, ASHA involvement, insecticide, fogging machines), training, intersectoral convergence, awareness activities, etc. For surveillance and free of cost diagnosis of dengue, Sentinel Surveillance Hospitals with laboratory facility and Apex Referral laboratories with advance diagnostic facilities have been identified across the country, Jadhav said. The government of India has developed national guidelines on dengue treatment/management, in consultation with experts, which have been shared with all the states and UTs for implementation. The guidelines emphasise the preparedness of hospitals for case treatment/management. In addition, advisories have been issued from time to time to states/UTs for prevention and control of dengue, including case management, the minister said.

This ‘fake' cardiologist's last 5 patients died on the SAME DAY! Who is Dr John Camm?
The last five patients of Narendra Vikramaditya Yadav, a fake cardiologist posing as 'Dr John Camm' died on the same day that he operated on them, Indian Express has reported. Yadav posed as 'Dr John Camm', a top UK-based heart specialist, and has been accused of performing medical procedures without valid licence. The accused, as per inspection records presented before the Madhya Pradesh assembly, was performing crucial angioplasty operations under a false identity. The fake cardiologist performed 12 such operations at Mission Hospital in Damoh district between January 2 and February 11. As per sources quoted by The Indian Express, five of these patients died during the same day as the angioplasty — two during the procedure and three soon after it. The five patients 'treated' by Yadav, aged between 51 and 75, died one after the other in a span of just one month, the state assembly was informed. The death of these patients has raised serious questions about how the fake cardiologist was hired and allowed to conduct operations without proper supervision. The newspaper further stated in its report that Yadav fled after operating on his last patient and resigned from the hospital, taking a portable echo machine with him. The five patients who died on the same day after being operated on by Yadav include: Raheesa Begum (63) — treated on January 15 Israel Khan (75) — treated on January 17 Buddha Ahirwar (67) — treated on January 25 Mangal Singh Rajput (65) — treated on February 2 Satyendra Singh Rathore (51) — treated on February 11 Deputy chief minister Rajendra Shukla on Friday told the MP assembly that he hospital had failed to inform health authorities about Yadav's appointment, violating provisions under Madhya Pradesh Nursing Homes and Clinical Establishments (Registration and Licensing) Act. The government, therefore, had no scope to verify Yadav's credentials and the authenticity of his medial profession claims. The fake cardiologist is now under judicial custody, after being arrested in April this year. The charges Yadav is facing include fraud, impersonation, and culpable homicide among others.
