Stephen A. Smith's prime SiriusXM slot blindsides current host Michelle Beadle: 'Little embarrassing'
Beadle said it was "a little embarrassing" to learn her show, "Beadle and Decker," with Cody Decker, won't be airing at the same time from 12-3 p.m. ET every weekday due to Smith joining the show rotation.
"Yeah, so the cat's out of the bag. I guess we're talking about it," Beadle said during the show's episode Wednesday.
"We weren't supposed to, just as a heads up. We were only given a few hours notice, but we weren't told any details. We were promised that no details would be released. We didn't even know who was taking our place in the lineup, just that it was going to be announced that a new show was being added."
Beadle added that she found out what was happening through The Hollywood Reporter's details on Smith joining SiriusXM.
"Unbeknownst to us, The Hollywood Reporter, of course, had all the details," Beadle said. "So, it was a little embarrassing, I'm not going to lie. I've been in this business for 20-plus years. I've been treated poorly a couple times. This didn't feel good, I'm not gonna lie."
During her time on air, Beadle never mentioned Smith, who works for her former employer, ESPN. Beadle hosted the network's "NBA Countdown" before leaving the network in 2019.
Beadle is also the host of FanDuel TV's "Run It Back," which is an NBA-focused program.
Smith announced he would be joining SiriusXM on a multi-year deal during an appearance on "The Howard Stern Show" Wednesday. He's scheduled to start Sept. 2 with his takes on the biggest sports topics, while having a second show that will be his take on "weekly current events, pop culture" and more. That show doesn't have a debut date announced yet.
"To say that I'm excited would be an understatement," Smith said about his deal with SiriusXM, according to the New York Post. "I've been on Mad Dog before, had the time of my life. So, I'm loving the fact that I get to reunite with my guy, Mad Dog, on his turf. That, in itself, is a beautiful thing. But to then add a weekly show where I have a potent platform to discuss riveting subjects in the world of pop culture, politics and social commentary … let's just say it doesn't get any better than that.
Chris "Mad Dog" Russo is a regular guest on ESPN's "First Take," which Smith leads.

Saquon Barkley 'shocked' to be named to Donald Trump's presidential sports council, says he won't be participating
President Donald Trump's White House announced on Aug. 1 first that Saquon Barkley would be a member of his newly formed council on sports, fitness, and nutrition. It appears that that was news to Barkley. Barkley said Monday that he was "shocked" that his name was included as a council member and that he will not be participating. The All-Pro Philadelphia Eagles running back addressed the subject with reporters at training camp Monday. The White House previously issued a news release about the council that named several prominent athletes and sports figures who would participate, Barkley included. "The council will include executive director Catherine Granito, chair Bryson DeChambeau, Saquon Barkley, Gary Bettman, Nick Bosa, Harrison Butker, Cody Campbell, Roger Goodell, Wayne Gretzky, Nelly Korda, Paul 'Triple H' Levesque, Jack Nicklaus, Gary Player, Mariano Rivera, Tony Romo, Annika Sörenstam, Tua Tagovailoa, Lawrence Taylor, Matthew Tkachuk, and Mariano Rivera," the statement reads. None of the other athletes named have said that they won't be participating. Taylor and "Triple H" flanked Trump during a news conference addressing the council. Barkley, a three-time Pro Bowler who earned NFL Offensive Player of the Year in 2024 during Philadelphia's run to the Super Bowl championship, has previously made public appearances with Trump. Barkley golfed with Trump in April in New Jersey, then flew with Trump to Washington D.C. and visited the White House ahead of the Eagles' official visit to commemorate their Super Bowl victory. Barkley's visit prompted criticism, to which he responded on social media that he respects the office of the president. Diddy's Ex-Girlfriend Asks The Judge To Release Him Ahead Of Sentencing
An ex-girlfriend of Sean 'Diddy' Combs is urging the judge to release the music mogul on bail while he awaits his October sentencing. Virginia Huynh, who identified herself as Victim 3 in the federal government's indictment against Combs, wrote in a letter submitted to the judge this weekend that she has known the artist for many years in both a personal and professional capacity. She wrote that while their relationship had many ups and downs, Combs always tried to become a better person. 'By the time our relationship ended, he embodied an energy of love, patience and gentleness that was markedly different from his past behavior,' she wrote. 'To my knowledge, he has not been violent for many years, and he has been committed to being a father first.' Combs was acquitted last month of racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking charges, but he was found guilty of two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution. Last week, Combs' attorneys filed a motion asking the judge to release him on $50 million bond before his October sentencing hearing. Combs has been in Brooklyn's Metropolitan Detention Center since his September arrest and has been denied release multiple times. Huynh's letter asks the judge to consider letting Combs out on bond until October. She wrote that she does not view Combs as a danger to her or the community, and said he should be released because he has children who depend on him for financial and emotional support. 'I want to assure the Court that if released, I believe Mr. Combs will adhere to all conditions imposed and will not jeopardize his freedom or the well-being of his family,' Huynh wrote. In the indictment against Combs, prosecutors said Combs used his 'power and prestige' to intimidate and threaten women, often while he was in a romantic relationship with them. 'On multiple occasions, Combs threw both objects and people, as well as hit, dragged, choked and shoved others,' the indictment read. 'On one occasion, Combs dangled a victim over an apartment balcony.' Huynh did not testify in the trial against Combs. Cornerback Corey Ballentine returns to Packers after getting released by Colts
GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) — Cornerback Corey Ballentine has returned to the Green Bay Packers three days after the Indianapolis Colts released him. The Packers announced Monday they had signed Ballentine, who had played for them from 2022-24. They made room for him by releasing cornerback Gregory Junior. Ballentine played 37 regular-season games and three playoff games for the Packers over the past three seasons. He made seven starts during that stretch. The Colts signed Ballentine in March but released him Friday when they signed cornerback Chris Lammons. Ballentine, 29, played 15 games last season while contributing primarily on special teams. He started six games in 2023 and had 43 tackles and seven passes defensed, both career highs. He also has played for the New York Giants (2019-20), New York Jets (2020) and Detroit Lions (2021).
