'It's sad,' Nye said in an interview with FOX4 Wednesday. 'I mean there's a lot of people that have been coming here. It was more than just a restaurant. You know, it was like a neighborhood restaurant and bar. Everybody in the bar knew each other. I mean it was really like 'Prairie Village Cheers.''
Nye told FOX4 that all the regulars knew him for wearing funny hats. He became friends with the staff there too.
'It was so unexpected,' Nye said of the situation for the Prairie Villgae restaurant workers. 'Then they also didn't get paid. You know when I was talking to former staff, they didn't get paid, so we're hoping that a lot of the regulars, if we can get the word out on social media that other regulars that came here, weekly, daily, will reach out to the GoFundMe page and help bridge the gap a little bit for these people that lost their jobs.'
FOX4 was not able to reach the president of the Prairie Village restaurant via phone call or email.
According to the last Salty Iguana filing on the Kansas Secretary of State's website for the Prairie Village restaurant, Dan Chandler's the president of the restaurant. Our email to the restaurant wasn't returned Wednesday.
Tuesday, March 4, was the last day the Independence Salty Iguana location was open too. A GoFundMe's been set up by somebody in Independence.
Wednesday, Nye mentioned one specifically for the workers at the Prairie Village restaurant.
In Prairie Village, one resident FOX4 talked to Wednesday said her dad went to that restaurant every Wednesday to meet up with friends.

'Yeah,' Emily Allen said when asked if she's talked to her dad about the Salty Iguana closing. 'He's really upset about it because him and his buddies used to meet there, so now they have to find a new place. They've been doing it for like 20 years.'

A 19-year-old US sailor has been declared lost at sea after he was assumed to have gone overboard the USS George Washington off the coast of Australia. Jose Antonio Rivera Lynch IV was identified as the missing sailor by the Navy on Aug. 1. Rivera Lynch served as an Aviation Boatswain's Mate (Launch/Recovery Equipment) Airman onboard the aircraft carrier and went missing on July 28, only hours after a 'positive' phone call with his parents. 'At just 19 years old, Jose faithfully served his country with honor, courage, and an unwavering commitment to protecting others,' his family revealed in a GoFundMe. 5 Sailor Jose Antonio Rivera Lynch IV was declared lost at sea by the Navy on July 30, 2025. A search and rescue operation was launched for the missing sailor and included several Naval vessels and was assisted by the Australian Defense and Australian Border Forces. Officials called off the search that lasted 45 hours and spanned an area of roughly 2,200 square miles on July 30, the Navy announced. 3-Year-Old Boy's Finger 'Completely Severed' in Freak Tricycle Accident

"If I can help other families and other babies prevent this from happening, put me on blast," said the boy's grandmotherNEED TO KNOW Mandi Truman said her 3-year-old grandson's hand was caught in the chain of a tricycle, leaving one of his fingers completely severed The accident marked the second time her grandson has been hospitalized in less than a month, Truman said She set up a GoFundMe to help raise funds for her familyA grandmother in Oklahoma is offering a cautionary warning to families after her 3-year-old grandson severed a finger in a tricycle accident. "In a lot of ways, I blame myself,' Mandi Truman, of Spencer, told ABC affiliate KOCO, 'but if I can help other families and other babies prevent this from happening, put me on blast.' In a GoFundMe that she organized to raise funds to support her family after the accident, Truman recalled that her grandson was trying to push the tricycle forward when his hand became caught in the chain underneath. 'Out of fear, he yanked his hand back, and in that moment, his fingers were severely injured,' Truman wrote in the fundraiser description. She added that one of the boy's fingers was fractured and needed stitches, while another finger was 'completely severed' and could not be saved. Fortunately, doctors were able to reattach an additional finger. Truman told KOCO that she was sitting on the back porch with her son when the freak accident occurred. She said her son moved the tricycle in a way that freed her grandson's hand and prevented further damage. "Had it not been for my son moving it just the right way and releasing him, he would have lost more," she told the news outlet. According to the grandmother, who described herself as a single mom raising two sons alone, the accident marked the second time that her grandson has been hospitalized in less than a month — adding that her heart is breaking because of the pain the boy has endured. 'I am doing everything that I can to stay strong for my children and grandson, but I am at my end. I cannot work right now due to caring for him full-time and my bills are piling up,' Truman wrote in the GoFundMe.
