Austintown Fitch runs away with 4th straight District Championship
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – Austintown Fitch claimed their fourth consecutive District Championship with a 10-0 win over Strongsville on Friday at YSU's Covelli Sports Complex.

The two-time defending State champions took advantage of eight Mustang errors and finished the game in the sixth inning by run rule.
The Falcons, who have earned the Number One seed for five consecutive seasons, started the scoring in the second inning with four runs. They added five more in the fourth, and plated the game winner in the bottom of the sixth.
Austintown Fitch improves to 20-4 on the season and advances to Dthe ivision I Regional Semifinals next week. Strongsville finishes the season at 9-14 overall.

Steelers announce 2025 training camp schedule
PITTSBURGH, Pa. (WKBN) – The Pittsburgh Steelers officially announced the schedule for 2025 Training Camp at Saint Vincent College on Wednesday. It is the 58th year that Saint Vince College will host the Steelers for summer practices. Players are slated to report on Wednesday, July 23. The first practice open to the public will be held on Thursday, July 24 at 1:55 p.m. Pittsburgh's first padded practice will take place on Tuesday, July 29, also scheduled for 1:55 p.m. The annual 'Friday Night Lights' practice will be held on Aug. 1 at Latrobe Memorial Stadium at 7 p.m. The final practice open to the public at Saint Vincent College will be on Tuesday, Aug. 13 at 10:30 a.m. The team will hold a joint practice with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Wednesday, April 14 at Acrisure Stadium, and the practice is not open to the public. Scrappers' opening night at Eastwood Field is here again for 27th season
NILES, Ohio (WKBN) – Wednesday is opening night at Eastwood Field — the Mahoning Valley Scrappers are back in action and no one is more excited than Scrappy himself. The first pitch against State College is at 7:05 p.m. but get there early for a live pregame performance by The Suns of Beaches band. The first 1,000 adults will get a free Hawaiian shirt. It's also Military Appreciation Night — get two free upper box seat tickets with a valid military ID at the box office. After the game, there will be fireworks. Tuesday night was Scrapper Fest at the Eastwood Mall — a time to get fans excited for the 27th season. Former Major Leaguer and second-year manager Quinton McCracken addressed the crowd, outlining the kind of team he'll be leading. 'We're doubling down but as far as excitement pertaining to this year's team, I mean, we've got a lot of good athletes, we got a lot of live bodies, strong kids that are looking to go out and make a name for themselves,' he said. Boardman ready to continue historic run at state final 4
BOARDMAN, Ohio (WKBN) – Boardman softball is currently having a dream season with the Spartans' first final four appearance since 2002 and district title win since 2011. 'Everything they've done I've asked for and then some,' said Boardman head coach Fred Mootz. 'Every big moment during the season, they've showed up and they've produced when it mattered most.' Boardman downed Louisville 3-1 in the Division III Regional Final to advance to state. 'We have so much to prove and everyone doubts us throughout the community, throughout the area,' said Boardman senior pitcher Tori Strines. 'We came out this year and showed that we can be that team.' The Spartans started off their run with a 5-0 Division III District Championship win over Howland in late May. 'Everyone sleeps on Boardman and we've got to prove it,' said Boardman senior third baseman Alex Ward. 'Don't sleep on us, this year we finally proved that. People are starting to wake up.' Boardman's current overall season record is (25-4). 'No matter who we play, we need to play our game because if we play our game, we can beat any team,' said Boardman freshman catcher Addie Rudge.
