More snow expected in western Mass. this weekend
CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – Western Massachusetts saw some snow Thursday morning but there is more on the way for the weekend.
While the snow has ended for today it won't be long until it's back. We are tracking the chance of a plowable snow event from Saturday night into Sunday this weekend.
This is going to form from two pieces of energy coming together over the Ohio River Valley and forming into an area of low pressure that moves off the Mid-Atlantic Saturday night. We expect snow to fall Saturday night into Sunday which could be several inches.
When looking at the season, not including Thursday's snow, we have 13.2 inches on the season at Westover Airbase in Chicopee. Typically, this time of year we have an average of 30 inches of snow on the season, so we are far behind average.
We do expect more snow opportunities over the next week with a chance on Saturday night into Sunday and next Tuesday into Wednesday. Stay tuned to the 22News Storm Team for the latest on the snow.

Rich Tettemer to Retire from WWLP in Massachusetts After 37 Years
WWLP anchor Rich Tettemer is retiring after 37 years at the Springfield, Massachusetts NBC affiliate. He started his career as a videotape editor at WFLA in Tampa, Florida in 1984 and went on to become a weekend sports anchor at KODE in Joplin, Missouri. Tettemer joined WWLP on Patriots Day, April 18, 1988 with the with both the Boston Marathon and the Red Sox morning game. He was named a morning anchor on October 16, 2006, after 18 and a half years on the sports desk and has been the morning news anchor for another 18 and a half years. Below, Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey, along with his colleagues said goodbye to Tettemer. Tettemer will be replaced by reporter Julia O'Keefe. She'll join Kaelee Collins on Monday. Last week, weather reporter Jack Wu said he was leaving the station for a job in West Palm Beach, Florida.

Hydrant flushing to begin in Greenfield this week
GREENFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The city of Greenfield is alerting residents to hydrant flushing that will take place throughout the week. Starting Monday, crews will begin flushing hydrants from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. every day throughout this week and into next week. Residents should be aware that their tap water may be slightly discolored in the afternoon when their neighborhood hydrants are affected, and are encouraged to run the water to clear it prior to drinking it or doing laundry. Sidewalks to close Monday for repairs in Pittsfield City officials have shared the following schedule for hydrant flushing: Monday, June 9: Barton Road from Adams Road west to Colrain Road, then south to Silver Street Tuesday, June 10: Silver Street from High Street west to Colrain Road, then south to Sanderson Street Wednesday, June 11: Sanderson Street from Parkway west to Colrain Road, then south to Main Street Thursday, June 12: Main Street from Highland Avenue west to Munson Street then south to Montague City Road Friday, June 13: Montague City Road from Deerfield Street to Mountain Road, then Camp Avenue to Temple Avenue Monday, June 16: Bernardston Road, Adams Road, and Industrial Park Tuesday, June 17: Dead-end streets and roads All hydrant flushing work is weather-dependent and subject to change. This maintenance is set to take place to ensure that high-quality water is running through the city by removing any sediment from rusting pipe work and water main breaks. Additionally, officials stated that all hydrants in the city will be flushed, which helps identify any malfunctioning hydrants so that they can be repaired ahead of potential emergencies. Sidewalks to close Monday for repairs in Pittsfield
PITTSFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Several sidewalks in Pittsfield will be closed to pedestrians starting on Monday as crews conduct repair work. LIST: Ironman triathlon to cause weekend road closures City officials shared that numerous asphalt sidewalks will be replaced with concrete beginning on Monday, with work taking place across the next four weeks. The following sidewalks will begin undergoing repair work this week: North side of Columbus Avenue from Robbins Avenue to Francis Avenue North side of Summer Street from Francis Avenue to Center Street South side of Union Street from Francis Avenue to Union Street South side of Bradford Street from Francis Avenue to Center Street North side of Bradford Street from Center Street to North Street While repairs are taking place, these sidewalks will be closed for pedestrian use. Those walking in the area will be able to use the sidewalks on the alternate side of the street. These repairs are funded through the Community Development Block Grant. All work is weather-dependent and subject to change.
