Wisconsin football makes loaded list of finalists for class of 2026 safety
This past Thursday, class of 2026 safety Tony Forney cut his recruitment down to five schools: Auburn, Missouri, Pitt, Georgia, and Wisconsin. The standout defensive back currently ranks as the 719th player in the country, 63rd safety in the nation, and as the 78th player from the state of Georgia.
Forney would join cornerback Carsen Eloms as the only defensive back commit in Wisconsin's 2026 recruiting class. He would also be the Badgers' eighth commit in the cycle, barring any upcoming commitments after this weekend's official visits.
Forney's offer list is quite impressive, with interest from top programs including Georgia, Auburn, Missouri, and even Michigan, which failed to make his top five. Head coach Luke Fickell and his staff would love to land a high upside prospect like Forney, who is likely to jump up in the national recruiting rankings as he enters his senior year of high school.

Royals Turn Heads With Decision on No. 1 Prospect

Royals Turn Heads With Decision on No. 1 Prospect originally appeared on Athlon Sports. In a move that has electrified Kansas City, the Royals are calling up their top prospect, Jac Caglianone, as reported by ESPN's Jeff Passan on Sunday night. Advertisement The 22-year-old slugger, drafted sixth overall in 2024, has been tearing through the minors, boasting a .322/.389/.593 slash line with 15 home runs and 56 RBIs across 50 games between Double-A and Triple-A. Caglianone, a former two-way star at the University of Florida, has transitioned into a full-time hitter, splitting time between first base and right field. Royals fans, desperate for outfield power after a lackluster season, are buzzing with excitement as Caglianone prepares to make his MLB debut against the Cardinals and Yankees. Advertisement "Dude is a stud and is going to be a major asset to the Royals for years to come," wrote another. "Born superstar," said one user. "That's exciting news! Jac Caglianone is going to bring some serious power to the Royals lineup," said another user. "Damn Jac gonna rake for the Royals," chimed in another. Despite concerns over his high two-strike chase rate, the Royals believe his raw power and improved plate discipline—evidenced by more walks than strikeouts in spring training—make him ready for the big leagues. The 6-foot-5, 250-pound phenom's arrival signals a new era for Kansas City, a team looking to build on its 2024 postseason appearance. With Caglianone's bat in the lineup, the Royals are poised to make a serious statement in the AL Central. Patrick Mahomes Reacts to Kansas City Royals' Huge Announcement

Patrick Mahomes Reacts to Kansas City Royals' Huge Announcement originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Kansas City Chiefs star quarterback Patrick Mahomes has always been an avid sports fan beyond the football field. Advertisement While he's been spotted supporting teams from his home state of Texas—like the Dallas Mavericks and his alma mater, Texas Tech—he's also been a vocal supporter of the Kansas City Royals. On Sunday night, Mahomes reacted to a major announcement from the Royals with excitement. The Royals, fresh off a 2024 playoff appearance, are currently 31-29 and sitting in fourth place in the AL Central. With the season in full swing, the team is set to receive a much-needed boost. According to ESPN's Jeff Passan, the Royals have officially announced the call-up of slugger Jac Caglianone—the No. 6 overall pick in the 2024 MLB Draft and the No. 10 prospect on MLB Pipeline. Caglianone has been tearing through the minor leagues, making a quick and impressive rise through the Royals' farm system. In just 50 games between Double-A and Triple-A, Caglianone is slashing .322/.389/.593 with 15 home runs and 56 RBIs—an explosive start to his professional career. Advertisement The announcement sparked an instant reaction from Mahomes, who shared his excitement on social media by retweeting the news with a popular GIF from The Office that says, 'Oh my God! Okay, it's happening.' Check it out: Mahomes has always had baseball in his blood. His father, Patrick Mahomes Sr., was a Major League pitcher whose career spanned from 1992 to 2003. He played for several teams, including the Minnesota Twins, Boston Red Sox, New York Mets, Texas Rangers, Chicago Cubs, and Pittsburgh Pirates. He also spent time playing professionally in Japan. While he was primarily used at first base, he also showed effectiveness on the mound for the Gators. Advertisement Although it doesn't appear the Royals plan to use him as a two-way player—at least not right away—Caglianone brings a much-needed spark to the lineup. He now joins a promising group that includes young superstar Bobby Witt Jr., slugger Vinnie Pasquantino, and veteran catcher Salvador Perez. "If it's the last ride, you would never know," Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes says of Travis Kelce.

"If it's the last ride, you would never know," Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes says of Travis Kelce. originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Whenever tight end Travis Kelce retires, he'll be five years out from being a first-ballot Hall of Famer. When that will come to fruition is unknown. Advertisement Along the path? There has been some mild criticism of Kelce's decline at age 35 ... including Pro Football Focus using its tight end rankings to push him down to the No. 7 slot. They write ... 'While Kelce has been the second-most-valuable tight end over the past two seasons, per PFF WAR, 2024 represented the lowest-graded season of his career (71.7). Age looks to be catching up to the future Hall of Famer, as his 91.4 PFF overall grade from 2022 appears to be a thing of the past.' The names at the top of the rankings? Kelce is between Minnesota Vikings tight end T.J. Hockenson and Philadelphia Eagles veteran Dallas Goedert. Also ahead of him are George Kittle, Brock Bowers, Trey McBride, Mark Andrews, and Sam LaPorta. Advertisement None of this means Kelce is ineffective, of course. Kelce missed virtually his entire rookie season. Since then, he had never posted a year with fewer than eight yards per target, until 2024 when that mark dropped to just 6.2. After ascending to stardom in 2016, he had never dipped below 65 yards per game until 2024, when his 823 yards came out to just 51.4 yards per game. His profile has never been higher, of course, in part because of his romance with pop icon Taylor Swift. ... a relationship that is in part the reason the subject of retirement comes up. But ... "If it's the last ride, you would never know," teammate Patrick Mahomes said this week at OTAs. "The way he's talking about football. The way he's talking about working and trying to be even better this year than he was last year. Advertisement "He doesn't seem like a guy like it's his last ride, like he's tired of the job." Kelce's regression, however slight, is a reminder that dynasties don't last forever. But maybe one "last ride'' - if that's what this is - can allow Kansas City to send him to retirement with another Super Bowl ring.
