Manchester United Are In The Mix To Land This Ligue 1 Keeper: Should Amorim Go For Him?

In a recent report, L'Equipe mentioned that Manchester United are in the mix to land Paris Saint-Germain keeper Gianluigi Donnarumma. It has been claimed that the Red Devils would have to rival Manchester City in the race to land the Italian goalie.
Donnarumma's Impressive Run Of Form In Ligue 1
Donnarumma had a solid campaign at the French club recently after he put in a handful of impressive performances in goal for them in Ligue 1. He also helped PSG win the UEFA Champions League trophy earlier this summer.
The 26-year-old conceded 43 goals and kept 17 clean sheets in 47 appearances for his current employers last season on all fronts. He even distributed the ball relatively well based on his pass completion rate of 87.3% in Ligue 1 (stats via fbref.com).
His current contract at the French club will expire at the end of next season which could give Man United a chance to sign him on a cut-price deal this summer.

Should Manchester United Boss Ruben Amorim Go For Donnarumma?
Donnarumma can use his strong 1.96m to dominate his penalty box. He is a solid handler of the ball and can use his quick reflexes to make a few solid saves at the back for his side.
The Italian custodian has got a wealth of experience at the highest level. However, he might need some time to settle into life in the Premier League if Man United manage to bring him on board this summer.
We can expect Donnarumma to add more quality to Man United boss Ruben Amorim's first XI. He is good enough to nail down a regular first-team spot at the Mancunian club and would serve as an upgrade over Andre Onana.
Donnarumma might even help the Red Devils get back to challenging for a European spot in the Premier League next season. At 26, the Italian goalie has his best years ahead of him which makes him a worthy target for Man United to pursue in this transfer window. All in all, Amorim would be wise to go for a keeper of Donnarumma's quality before the end of this summer transfer window.

Bryan Mbeumo reveals the Manchester United player he is most looking forward to playing with

Manchester United's new signing Bryan Mbeumo has revealed the player he is looking forward to playing alongside with the most at Old Trafford. Cameroon winger Mbeumo, who scored 20 goals and provided seven assists for Brentford in the Premier League last season, signed a five-year contract last week to become United's third summer signing. He will now link up with a host of international stars as they hope to improve on last season's league position. When asked on the Rio Ferdinand Presents podcast who he was most looking forward to playing alongside, Mbeumo said: 'Of course, Bruno (Fernandes). Of course, yeah. 'Everyone sees in the past years. He can shoot, he can cross, he can do crazy ball. Yeah, for a striker, you just enjoy that.' Mbeumo is hoping to nurture a chemistry on and off the training pitch with United's Portuguese talisman before the club launch the 2025-26 campaign at home against Arsenal on August 17. 'I think it's a little bit of everything. You earn experience from everyone. So it's always good to speak to someone like this,' Mbeumo said. 'But at the end, I think on the pitch, when you're smart like he is, I think you don't even need to think a lot. You just need to make the run and he's going to play you in the right space every time. 'But of course, you can have a little discussion to make him know how I prefer the balls and how I'm feeling the best to have the ball. 'But at a certain point, there is only one way, even if it's not the one you like, you have to do the run and he's going to put the ball in a good position.' Mbeumo's arrival at Old Trafford follows the signings of Wolves forward Matheus Cunha and Paraguay left-back Diego Leon, from Cerro Porteno. United have recently been linked with Ollie Watkins – RB Leipzig's Benjamin Sesko is also a reported target – and Mbeumo described his former Brentford team-mate as the 'complete striker'. Mbeumo said of Watkins: 'I think he's really complete. He's like a complete striker. He can do a lot of things. 'He can drop with the set or going in behind. And I think this is really good for me or for a winger because you can use his space to fit in there. And he can combine as well. So, I think it's really good.'

Mbeumo looks forward to Fernandes link-up at Man Utd

Bryan Mbeumo says he is excited about linking up with Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes as he prepares for life at Old Trafford following his move from Brentford. After weeks of drawn-out talks, the 25-year-old finally joined United last week for £65 million ($87 million) plus a potential £6 million in add-ons. The Cameroon winger, who scored 20 goals and provided seven assists for Brentford in the Premier League last season, has signed a five-year deal with United, becoming their third signing of the summer transfer window. Mbeumo told the Rio Ferdinand Presents podcast that Fernandes was the player he was most looking forward to playing with. "Everyone sees in the past years, he can shoot, he can cross, he can do crazy ball," he said. "Yeah, for a striker, you just enjoy that." Mbeumo is hoping to benefit from the experience of the Portuguese midfielder, who said last month he had rejected a huge offer from Saudi Arabia to stay at United despite their struggles last season. "On the pitch, when you're smart like he is, I think you don't even need to think a lot," he said. "You just need to make the run and he's going to play you in the right space every time. "But of course, you can have a little discussion to make him know how I prefer the balls and how I'm feeling the best to have the ball. "But at a certain point, there is only one way, even if it's not the one you like, you have to do the run and he's going to put the ball in a good position." Mbeumo said of Watkins: "He's like a complete striker. He can do a lot of things." United are currently on a summer tour of the United States, preparing for their Premier League opener against Arsenal on August 17. jw/mw
