According to the ECI's daily bulletin on April 15 covering the period from August 1 (3 pm) to August 15 (9 am), political parties had appointed as many as 1,60,813 Booth Level Agents (BLAs).

The list includes Rashtriya Janata Dal (47,506), Bharatiya Janata Party (53,338), Janata Dal (United) (36,550) and Indian National Congress (17,549) BLAs among others. Additionally, the daily bulletin also informed that none of the parties, especially the Opposition has submitted any claims and objections.
However, electors submitted 28,370 claims and objections, of which 857 have already been disposed after the mandatory verification period.
Additionally, 1,03,703 applications were received from new electors aged 18 and above, including six submitted through BLAs.
The ECI clarified that under existing rules, claims and objections are handled by the concerned Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) or Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs) after a seven-day verification period.
Importantly, no name can be deleted from the draft rolls published on August 1 without a formal 'speaking order' following due enquiry and providing the concerned individual an opportunity to be heard.

Did not examine at appropriate time: EC hits out at Opposition amid Bihar SIR row
The Election Commission (EC), on Saturday, responded to the criticism over alleged voter list irregularities in Bihar, stressing that political parties are involved in every stage of the electoral roll process but failed to raise objections in time. 'It seems that some political parties and their Booth Level Agents (BLAs) did not examine the electoral rolls at the appropriate time and did not point out errors, if any...,' said the poll body, reported PTI. Ahead of its scheduled press conference in Delhi over the Bihar SIR, the Election Commission said that both physical and digital copies of draft rolls are shared with all parties and uploaded on its website for public access. Parties and citizens then get a full month to file claims and objections. Once the final list is published, it is again shared with recognised parties, along with a two-tier appeals system, explained the poll body. The Election Commission's comments come amid the ongoing Special Intensive Revision of voter lists in poll-bound Bihar, and Rahul Gandhi's 'Vote Chori' (vote theft) allegations. In an August 7 press conference, the Leader of Opposition in Lok sabha presented Congress' research on voting in the Mahadevapura Assembly in Karnataka to claim the theft of 1,00,250 votes. Earlier in the day, the EC had announced that it will 'explain' the Special Intensive Revision exercise ongoing in Bihar on Sunday, August 17, as LoP Rahul Gandhi begins his 'Voter Adhikar Yatra'. The poll body will hold a press conference at National Media Centre, Raisina Road, New Delhi, tomorrow. The EC, on Saturday, also said it continues to welcome a scrutiny of the electoral rolls by political parties and any elector. "It will help EROs to remove the errors and purify the electoral rolls which has always been the objective of EC," it said. The poll authority also underlined that the system for parliamentary and Assembly elections is a multi-layered decentralised construct as envisaged by law.

The video, posted on Congress's official X handle on Saturday, shows several people making serious claims about fake voters and missing names in the electoral roll. It features a woman saying real voters were shown as dead, an old man claiming 80 fake voters were registered at his address, and another man saying his voting rights had been 'stolen". These scenes include a disclaimer saying they are AI-generated. The video ends by urging people to join Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's 'Voter Adhikar Yatra' in Bihar to protest alleged 'vote theft" and irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter rolls in the state. Hours after the video was posted, the Election Commission flagged it as 'misleading" and posted a fact-check on its official handle on X. It said the video is false and added that the electoral roll in Bihar is being prepared as per law, with full transparency. The Commission explained that the process involves the Sub-Divisional Magistrates (SDMs), Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), and more than 90,000 Booth Level Officers (BLOs) across the state. It also said every voter in the Assembly constituency takes part in the verification process. The ECI further stated that more than 1.6 lakh Booth Level Agents (BLAs) from all 12 recognised political parties, including the Congress, are involved in the voter roll update. The poll body warned that spreading false information can damage public trust in elections and urged people not to fall for digitally altered videos. Meanwhile, the Congress has claimed the video showed the real concerns about voter data and called for action through Gandhi's yatra.
