MLA moots Rs 1,323 cr irrigation devpt works
Wanaparthy: Local MLA Thudi Megha Reddy stated on Thursday that proposals worth Rs 1,323-crore have been submitted to fully strengthen the irrigation sector within his constituency.
At a special meeting with the Irrigation department officials in the district, he said the proposals cover reservoirs, canals and lift systems, along with various repair works. He instructed officials to prepare detailed reports accordingly.
The proposed projects include: Gollapalli reservoir, Buddaram online reservoir, strengthening and expansion of KLI, D5, and D8 canals, construction of related structures, enhancement of the distributary system, strengthening of Buddaram right and left canals, Ganapuram branch canal, Karne Thanda Lift, Kashinagar Lift.
He emphasised the need to gather complete information on these projects. Considering the summer season, the MLA directed officials to prioritise immediate construction and repairs of various tanks, ponds, and check dams in the constituency.

Bandi Sanjay inaugurates road Works worth Rs 31.12 crore in Karimnagar
Karimnagar, June 7 (UNI) Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar asserted that the Narendra Modi-led Central Government is giving top priority to road construction and infrastructure development across the country. He said that the Karimnagar Parliament constituency is witnessing significant internal road development under the National Employment Guarantee Scheme, with works worth Rs 31.12 crore currently underway. The Union Minister inaugurated a newly constructed internal road in Qazipur village of Kothapalli mandal on Saturday. The road, completed under the Employment Guarantee Scheme, was built for Rs14 lakh. He later laid the foundation stone for a market shed in Asif Nagar, Kothapalli Mandal, which is being taken up with Rs 9.50 lakh from the MP Local Area Development (MPLADS) funds. Speaking at the event, Bandi Sanjay said, 'This year alone, Rs 74 lakh has been allocated for road construction in Kothapalli Mandal. I am pleased to inaugurate this road in Ghazipur, which is part of a broader initiative to enhance rural connectivity under the employment scheme.' Highlighting the Centre's extensive efforts in road infrastructure, he informed that under the Central Road Infrastructure Fund (CRIF), Rs 291 crore has been spent in the Karimnagar Parliamentary segment, resulting in the construction of 1,341 km of roads. Additionally, hundreds of crores have been utilized under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) to build roads in remote villages. He noted that nearly Rs 5,000 crore has been spent on National Highway works in Karimnagar Parliament. 'Highway projects between Karimnagar-Warangal and Siddipet-Elkathurthi are progressing rapidly. We are also set to begin construction of the Karimnagar-Jagityala highway very soon,' he added. Referring to the Rajiv Gandhi Highway, he said the Central Government is ready to widen it using National Highway funds. However, he pointed out that the road is currently under a state-level maintenance contract. AHMEDABAD: In a game-changing decision, the Gujarat State Information Commission has slammed the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) (Crime) for hiding behind a 19-year-old RTI exemption to deny critical information to cyber fraud victims. The Commission has now recommended the state government revoke the special immunity granted to CID Crime regarding cyber fraud cases—delivering a major win for transparency and the rights of hundreds of duped citizens. The exemption, in effect since October 25, 2005, under a Home Department notification, placed CID Crime beyond the purview of the Right to Information Act for crime-related investigations. However, the recent judgment has pierced this shield in the context of cybercrime, which the Commission argued is no longer a conventional 'sensitive crime' but a rapidly escalating public menace impacting citizens daily. The ruling stemmed from a plea by Rakesh Kumar Prajapati, a Gandhinagar resident who lost Rs 4.5 lakh to cyber fraud. After filing a complaint with the Cyber Crime Cell, Prajapati sought the FIR copy and related documents under the RTI Act. CID Crime rejected his request, citing the 2005 exemption. Unwilling to accept silence in the face of theft, Prajapati took the matter to the State Information Commission.
