Bandi Sanjay inaugurates road Works worth Rs 31.12 crore in Karimnagar
Karimnagar, June 7 (UNI) Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar asserted that the Narendra Modi-led Central Government is giving top priority to road construction and infrastructure development across the country.
He said that the Karimnagar Parliament constituency is witnessing significant internal road development under the National Employment Guarantee Scheme, with works worth Rs 31.12 crore currently underway.
The Union Minister inaugurated a newly constructed internal road in Qazipur village of Kothapalli mandal on Saturday. The road, completed under the Employment Guarantee Scheme, was built for Rs14 lakh. He later laid the foundation stone for a market shed in Asif Nagar, Kothapalli Mandal, which is being taken up with Rs 9.50 lakh from the MP Local Area Development (MPLADS) funds.
Speaking at the event, Bandi Sanjay said, 'This year alone, Rs 74 lakh has been allocated for road construction in Kothapalli Mandal. I am pleased to inaugurate this road in Ghazipur, which is part of a broader initiative to enhance rural connectivity under the employment scheme.'
Highlighting the Centre's extensive efforts in road infrastructure, he informed that under the Central Road Infrastructure Fund (CRIF), Rs 291 crore has been spent in the Karimnagar Parliamentary segment, resulting in the construction of 1,341 km of roads. Additionally, hundreds of crores have been utilized under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) to build roads in remote villages.
He noted that nearly Rs 5,000 crore has been spent on National Highway works in Karimnagar Parliament. 'Highway projects between Karimnagar-Warangal and Siddipet-Elkathurthi are progressing rapidly. We are also set to begin construction of the Karimnagar-Jagityala highway very soon,' he added.
Referring to the Rajiv Gandhi Highway, he said the Central Government is ready to widen it using National Highway funds. However, he pointed out that the road is currently under a state-level maintenance contract. 'If the state government resolves the issue with the existing contractor and submits proposals, we are prepared to take up the widening project without delay,' he assured.

The PM further said farmers were earlier forced to take loans for meeting small needs, but their lives have been made easier by his government. 'Reflecting on the last 11 years, the government's initiatives have not only enhanced prosperity among farmers but have also contributed to an overall transformation of the agriculture sector. Due to the continuous increase in the Minimum Support Price (MSP), the country's food producers are receiving fair prices for their crops and experiencing a rise in their income,' Modi was quoted as saying in a PIB release. The PM over the last few days has been highlighting his government's decisions in specific sectors. The BJP-led NDA government has recently completed its 11 years in power, while the party will mark the first anniversary of Modi-led government's third term on June 9.

Punjab's land pooling policy to benefit of Kejriwal's ‘Delhi friends', alleges Sirsa
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and Delhi minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa launched a blistering attack on Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convener and former Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal, accusing him of trying to seize the land of Punjab farmers under the guise of newly launched land pooling policy by the AAP government in the state. Sirsa, who was in Ludhiana to campaign for BJP's Ludhiana West bypoll candidate Jiwan Gupta, alleged that Kejriwal is plotting to seize land from Punjab's farmers 'and hand it over to his 'Delhi' friends'. 'Just as Kejriwal had pressured Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Mann to appoint his loyalists to powerful posts in the state administration, he is now engineering a systematic land grab. This land acquisition policy is not meant for Punjab's development but to transfer the land of hardworking Punjabi farmers to Kejriwal's associates from Delhi, who will profit from it,' Sirsa alleged. 'This is the same playbook used by former Haryana CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda, whose similar policy is now under a CBI probe,' the minister added. He further claimed that the AAP-led Punjab government is blindly replicating controversial and failed Delhi policies. Referring to the excise policy that led to the infamous liquor scam in Delhi, Sirsa said that under Kejriwal's and Manish Sisodia's pressure, the same model has been pushed into Punjab. 'When the probe began in Delhi, they were quick to scrap the policy there, but instead of discarding it altogether, they exported the same blueprint to Punjab,' Sirsa alleged. Sirsa accused Kejriwal of shifting his power base to Punjab after losing political traction in Delhi. 'Today, Kejriwal uses Punjab's official cars, helicopters, and even police protection and is barely seen in Delhi. Even his staff, including his secretary, driver, and peon, are being maintained through Punjab's treasury,' Sirsa claimed. Sirsa said that Punjab's youth are being sidelined, with Kejriwal giving preference to his Delhi cronies. 'It is disgraceful that people from outside are being prioritised in a state where the youth are struggling for employment,' he said. Sirsa said under AAP-rule Punjab's fiscal health was worsening. 'In 2022, Punjab's debt stood at ₹2.83 lakh crore, a burden that took 50 years to accumulate. In just two years under AAP, an additional ₹1 lakh crore has been added. Punjab is now the second most indebted state in the country, with a total debt of ₹3.83 lakh crore,' he pointed out. Reacting to Sirsa's accusations, AAP spokesperson Neel Garg stated that before 2007 no one heard about the word 'Chitta' and it was under the SAD-BJP alliance regime that the influx of drugs ruined the youth of Punjab. 'The land pooling policy is for the welfare of farmers, but the parties who support land mafia are opposing the policy,' Garg said.

Thackeray cousins' photo in Saamana fuels reunion buzz
Amid intense speculation over possibility of an alliance between the Shiv Sena (UBT) and the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS), the former's mouthpiece 'Saamana' on Saturday published an old photograph of the estranged cousins, Uddhav and Raj Thackeray, on its front page. Meanwhile, MNS chief Raj Thackeray held a party meeting on Saturday to gauge the mood among his party leaders and workers on a possible alliance with the Shiv Sena (UBT). 'Leaders from both sides have been deliberating on the possibilities of coming together as it is seen as the need of the hour for both the parties. Both parties are going through the troubled waters and it is the battle for survival for them,' a Shiv Sena (UBT) leader said, requesting anonymity. Speculation of an alliance has picked up pace ahead of the ensuing civic body polls, likely to be held after the monsoon, and it was further fuelled by recent statements by the Thackeray cousins, who parted ways in 2006. Both leaders have hinted at a possible reconciliation, with Raj Thackeray maintaining it was not difficult to unite in the interest of Marathi manoos (Marathi-speaking people) while Uddhav Thackeray saying he was ready to put aside trivial fights, provided those working against Maharashtra's interests were not entertained. On Friday, Uddhav Thackeray said whatever the people of Maharashtra wish will happen. The statement was highlighted with the photo of the two cousins together in Saamana. Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Chandrakant Khaire said the issue was discussed in a meeting at the party chief's residence, Matoshree, a month ago. 'Uddhavji was positive about joining hands with Raj Thackeray and the responsibility of talks was given to our leader Anil Parab,' he claimed. The MNS chief is also holding meetings with senior leaders of the party. Senior leader Bala Nandgaonkar, who was part of the Saturday meeting, said: 'The decision (about alliance with Uddhav Thackeray's party) will be taken by our top leader and it would not be proper for me to speak about it.' In a surprise statement, Gajanan Kirtikar of the rival Shiv Sena, led by deputy chief minister Eknath Shinde, said even his party should join hands with the Thackeray cousins. 'The revival of the Thackeray brand is the need of the hour and it is the sentiment among the people of Maharashtra. It will be a people-friendly alliance and even Shinde-led Sena too should join them to revive the Shiv Sena,' Kiritkar said. Reacting to the development, chief minister Devendra Fadnavis said it would be premature to react to the possible alliance. 'It would not be fair for me to react to what Raj Thackeray has said and how Uddhav Thackeray has reacted to it. More than two brothers, the media is excited about the reconciliation. I would react when it actually happens,' the senior BJP leader told reporters. Shinde also echoed the sentiments, saying: 'Everybody has the right to decide whom to go with. There is no point in reacting to the possibilities based on ifs and buts.'
