Netflix is bringing Serenity to the Big Apple.
Production on Sweet Magnolias' fifth season is currently underway in New York City, where Maddie (JoAnna Garcia Swisher) recently accepted a too-good-to-refuse marketing position at a publishing house. And where there's one Magnolia, two more can't be far behind.

That's right, Helen (Heather Headley) and Dana Sue (Brooke Elliott) are taking a girls' trip to Manhattan to see Maddie in her element — and TVLine has an exclusive first look at all three ladies strutting through the halls of Grand Central Terminal:
'It was really exciting,' Swisher previously told TVLine about the idea of Maddie getting to spread her wings. 'I think a lot of people saw that happen and thought, 'Oh God, is this the end of the show? Maddie's leaving town. What does that look like?!'' (Now that Sweet Magnolias has been renewed for Season 5, we'll get to find out!)
Swisher is also excited to see Maddie 'get her groove back,' even if it means replacing the trio's iconic margarita nights with a round of cosmos.
Of course, Maddie's new life in the big city is only one exciting development fans can expect in Season 5. For starters, following Erik's proposal in the finale, Helen finally has a wedding to plan! 'The Helen Decatur wedding has to be the wedding of all weddings,' Headley told TVLine. 'When she's at the front of the church, I want her train to still be coming out of the car.'
An official release date for Sweet Magnolias Season 5 has not yet been announced, but with filming now underway, we're definitely moving in the right direction. What are your hopes for the Magnolias when the show finally returns to Netflix? Drop 'em in a comment below.
