Bingidoddi Village Unites to Install Ambedkar Statue After Desecration Incident Spurs Outrage
The incident, which occurred last week, was met with immediate outrage from villagers and activists alike. Members of the Madiga Reservation Porata Samiti (MRPS), along with local youth and elders from all communities, joined hands to file a complaint at the local police station. MRPS leaders, including Aiza Raju Madiga, Konkala Bhimanna Madiga, Minor Babu Madiga, and Balgery Esanna Madiga, strongly denounced the act and expressed the community's pain.
'This is not just an insult to Ambedkar, it is an insult to our entire village,' said the residents in a united statement. Currently, Bingidoddi village does not have a statue of Dr. Ambedkar. In light of the incident, the villagers unanimously resolved to correct this by establishing a statue of the revered leader.
In a recent gram sabha, the villagers agreed to select a suitable location within three to four days and to perform a formal bhoomi pooja (groundbreaking ceremony) before proceeding with the statue installation. The villagers promised to pay grand tribute to Dr. Ambedkar, reaffirming their commitment to equality and social justice.
MRPS leaders expressed concern that such incidents could sow division in a community that has always lived in harmony. 'We urge everyone not to let mischief-makers divide us. We stand with your village's decision and support your efforts to preserve unity and respect,' said MRPS representatives during the meeting.
The decision and future plans were shared in the presence of local law enforcement officers, including Aiza Sub-Inspector and Shanti Nagar Circle Inspector Tata Babu. CI Tata Babu emphasized the importance of maintaining communal harmony and warned that strict legal action would be taken against anyone attempting to create discord or repeat such disrespectful acts.
The meeting saw participation from all sections of the village society – youth, elders, and social group leaders – symbolizing a strong and unified stand against disrespect, while ensuring that the memory and values of Dr. Ambedkar are upheld with dignity and honor.

Former Bombay High Court judge B G Kolse-Pati expressed 'shock' at the NIA court judgement in the Malegaon bomb case, while describing it as 'death of justice' and 'a blow to India's democracy and secularism'. Minutes after the verdict was pronounced, Kolse-Patil told The Indian Express, 'I found it extremely difficult to believe that six people died in the Malegaon bomb blast, 100 were injured, and no one has been found guilty in the last 17 years. If no one is guilty, did the blast take place on its own? The ownership of the motorcycle which was used for the blast was proved. There were four meetings between the accused before the blasts. One meeting was held in Bhopal, two in Indore and one in Ujjain. They had recorded the meetings. When they were asked by ATS as to why the meetings were recorded, they said it was done to ensure that no one who attended it betrays them.' 'In the chargesheet, it is mentioned that for the blast conspiracy, four meetings were held between the accused. 'In the chargesheet it was stated that the first meeting was held in April 2008 in which Pragya Thakur and Lt Col Purohit were present. In this meeting, it had been decided that Malegaon was dominated by Muslims and therefore they should trigger the blast there. In the second meeting held in Indore in June 2008, Thakur had come to the meeting with two people and described them as experts. Both of them are absconding till date. In the third meeting in July 2008, Thakur had complained that even after she had given two people to them, Purohit was not giving them RDX. The fourth meeting was held in Ujjain. Purohit had come with one of his associates. Purohit said RDX should be given… The two who are absconding were then given the RDX. The recordings of this meeting was tested in the forensic laboratory. In this case, the CDR of the call exchanges between the accused was also seized which also provided concrete proof.' AIMIM Maharashtra president Imtiaz Jaleel said, 'Six people died in the bomb blast. Even if one person had died, he should have got justice. But in the Malegaon blast case, justice has not been done. All seven accused have been acquitted. What message have we sent to those who are involved in terror activities and those want to divide our people? Five judges changed in the case, chargesheet of thousands of pages was filed and then supplementary chargesheet was filed, scores of witnesses were brought in… The court should tell us whether fake evidence was placed before it and who are the people responsible for this.' Jaleel said the Malegaon NIA court verdict has raised doubts about the judicial system. 'All political parties need to ponder over the verdict seriously. A two day Parliament session should be convened to discuss and debate about our judicial system.' Jaleel said the state government should appeal against the verdict in the Supreme Court. 'Actually, the Supreme Court should review this judgement… The state government should appeal in the SC. I don't think the state government will not appeal in the court. If the state government does not appeal, then it will raise a question as to why it appealed against the verdict in the Mumbai train blast case.' Activist Niranjan Takle said besides the seven accused, there were two others who have been declared absconders in the case and have not been found so far. 'After the blast, I checked the registers of two hotels in which the name of the two absconders are mentioned. They stayed in Malegaon for one and a half days. NEW DELHI: Noting that it will soon announce the schedule for conducting the election to the post of Vice President of India, the Election Commission of India (ECI) on Thursday said it has finalised the Electoral College for the purpose. The election to the office of the Vice President has been necessitated following the surprise resignation of Jagdeep Dhankhar from the post on 21 July, a little more than two years before he would have completed his tenure. The Vice President of India is elected by an Electoral College comprising the elected and nominated members of the Rajya Sabha and the elected members of the Lok Sabha. In an official statement, the poll panel said it has finalised the Electoral College list for the Vice Presidential Election, 2025. 'The Electoral College list will be available for purchase at a counter set up in the Election Commission office from the date of notification, which is likely to be announced soon,' the poll panel said. Just two days after Dhankhar's resignation, the ECI had begun the process to elect the next Vice President. Under Article 324 of the Indian Constitution, the ECI is mandated to conduct the election to the Vice President's office and, in the statement, the poll panel said that in compliance with Rule 40 of the Presidential and Vice-Presidential Elections Rules, 1974, the ECI is required to prepare and maintain an updated list of the members of the Electoral College, along with their recent addresses.

ECI finalises electoral college list for V-P election
New Delhi The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Thursday (July 31, 2025) said that it has finalised the electoral college list for the Vice-Presidential election. It will be available from the date of notification, 'which is likely to be announced soon', it said.
