Minister Ponnam urges RTC unions to call off strike plans
Responding to the RTC strike notice, the minister stated that the government is fully committed to resolving the RTC issues. He reminded that the struggle of RTC workers has been very crucial in the achievement of Telangana Statehood. He said that the government is committed to issues such as the welfare of RTC workers, passenger comfort, and protection of the organisation.
The minister made it clear that as an activist, he has a special connection with the RTC and is ready to hold discussions with the workers. He explained that the RTC has not been developing steadily for the last ten years and that his government has been releasing all the dues after coming to power. He said that the RTC is now running on the path of profit and the government is taking strong steps for the revival of the organisation. In this context, the minister appealed the workers to take a step forward with due introspection and rethink the decision to go on strike.

Stree Shakti day one: 12 lakh women travel free in Andhra
VIJAYAWADA: The Stree Shakti scheme, providing free travel to women in RTC buses, launched on Friday by the coalition government, has become a grand success, with over 12 lakh women passengers travelling within 30 hours. According to sources, there was a tremendous response from all parts of the state for the free bus ride to women, one of the promises under the much-publicised Super Six. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu reviewed the implementation of the scheme from time to time and issued necessary instructions to officials. Women saved up to Rs 5 crore by utilising the free travel in RTC buses on the very first day the scheme was rolled out. As per requests made by women passengers, the Chief Minister directed officials to allow free travel to women on buses operated on ghat roads. Initially, the RTC management did not permit free travel to women on buses running on ghat roads due to overload concerns. However, following the Chief Minister's directions, the RTC decided to extend the free ride to women on buses running on ghat roads.

Women-led fertiliser outlets launched
Rajanna Sircilla: Ina bid to promote women's economic empowerment, Government Whip and Vemulawada MLA Aadi Srinivas has urged farmers to extend their support to fertiliser and seed outlets run by women's collectives across the district. On Saturday, Srinivas, along with Collector Sandeep Kumar Jha, inaugurated fertiliser and seed shops run by the Sri Sivarama Mahila Sangham of Bollaram village in Vemulawada Rural mandal and the Tulasi Samaikya Mahila Sangham in Chandurthi mandal. Speaking at the event, Srinivas highlighted the broader vision behind the initiative. 'These shops are more than just points for agricultural inputs. They represent opportunities for women to become financially independent and take charge of their livelihoods,' he said. Under the Indira Mahila Shakti scheme, women's groups have already been provided with a variety of self-employment avenues, including canteens, dairy units, poultry farming, RTC bus operations, and petrol bunks. With plans to introduce rice mills and solar power projects, the government aims to further expand livelihood options for women. 'By actively supporting these outlets, farmers can play a crucial role in strengthening the financial autonomy of women.
