Minister Ponnam urges RTC unions to call off strike plans
Hyderabad: Telangana State Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar urged the RTC workers to call off their plans to go on strike keeping in mind the greater good and the future of the Corporation.
Responding to the RTC strike notice, the minister stated that the government is fully committed to resolving the RTC issues. He reminded that the struggle of RTC workers has been very crucial in the achievement of Telangana Statehood. He said that the government is committed to issues such as the welfare of RTC workers, passenger comfort, and protection of the organisation.
The minister made it clear that as an activist, he has a special connection with the RTC and is ready to hold discussions with the workers. He explained that the RTC has not been developing steadily for the last ten years and that his government has been releasing all the dues after coming to power. He said that the RTC is now running on the path of profit and the government is taking strong steps for the revival of the organisation. In this context, the minister appealed the workers to take a step forward with due introspection and rethink the decision to go on strike.

MLA Palle Sindhura Reddy echoed similar sentiments, stating that the coalition government under Naidu should be remembered as a farmer-friendly administration. She criticized the previous YSRCP government for neglecting farmer welfare and recalled that the TDP-led government from 2014 to 2019 sanctioned approximately 1,400 crore for agricultural equipment. In her address, MLA Sindhura Reddy encouraged farmers to adopt modern technologies and hailed CM Naidu as a visionary leader. She added that out of 14,000 acres of cultivated land in the district, about 12,000 acres have received government-supported drip irrigation systems, further proving the government's dedication to farmers. During the event, groundnut seed bags were distributed by Minister Savitha and MLA Sindhura Reddy to local farmers.

Ponnam Prabhakar inspects arrangements for Moharram
Hyderabad: The Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar on Tuesday said that the government will make all arrangements for the Moharram, an Islamic month which is to be held in the first week of July. On Tuesday, the Hyderabad in-charge minister held a review meeting with officials of various departments and Shia religious leaders at the Telangana State Secretariat along with Government Advisor Mohammed Shabbir Ali. Ponnam Prabhakar emphasised the need for all departmental officials to collaborate effectively. He instructed that police presence should be established at the Ashoorkhanas where Moharram events take place. Additionally, the minister mandated the immediate completion of outstanding drainage and road repair projects in the vicinity of the Ashoorkhanas, and the installation of high mast lights at all relevant locations. The minister instructed the Forest department officials to make arrangements for an elephant, which will be used in the procession on the day of Moharram. The electricity department representatives indicated that special electric lights need to be installed, while the water board officials are tasked with ensuring the availability of drinking water. Additionally, the GHMC officials are responsible for overseeing sanitation work. It was recommended that mobile toilets and other essential facilities be established. R&B officials received orders to set up barricades. Furthermore, they instructed high-ranking police officials to implement precautionary measures to avoid traffic disruptions during the Moharram procession. They emphasized the need for stringent security arrangements in the vicinity of Bibi-ka-Alam, the starting point of the main procession. Government advisor Mohammad Shabbir Ali emphasised the importance of ensuring that all essential services are accessible to individuals visiting Ashoorkhanas without any hindrances. He also advocated for the provision of medical camps and ambulances to be readily available.

Bonalu festivities to start in city on June 26; govt grants Rs 20 cr
Hyderabad: The Telangana Government would be celebrating the state festival of Ashada Masam Bonalu grandly in 28 major temples in the city starting from June 26. The state government has allocated a budget of Rs 20 crore for the Bonalu festival. A review meeting was organised with the temple committees at the MCR HRD institute on Tuesday on the ensuing Bonalu Festival, which was attended by the Endowment Minister Konda Surekha and Hyderabad in-charge Minister Ponnam Prabhakar. Minister Konda Surekha told the officials that Ashada Bonalu Jatara should be grandly held in all 28 temples and all departments should work in coordination to avoid any problems. The Minister further said that there were no budget constraints for the Bonalu festival and the government had already allocated Rs 20 crore. She said that if more funds are required, they would bring this to the attention of Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and funds would be allocated, she said, adding the government would respond positively in this matter. She also said that the officials should take steps to ensure that the devotees do not face any difficulties anywhere. Reminding that Minister Ponnam Prabhakar had faced difficulties during the festivals last year, and this time, the minister directed the officials to prepare a special program and make arrangements so that such incidents do not recur. The first Bonam will begin in Golconda on June 26. After that, there will be Bonalu Jatara in Balkampet, Ujjaini Mahankali, and Lal Darwaja. There will also be rangams and big processions. The ministers directed the officials to complete the arrangements for that. The ministers asked that the cheques given to the temples should be coordinated and claimed before the festivals, and that the officials should work with the attitude of serving rather than doing their job. The ministers directed the police to coordinate with all departments to maintain law and order and also to take steps to prevent any lapses. Minister Konda Surekha directed the officials to collect everyone's opinions on the problems prevailing in the temples and ensure that there were no difficulties in the management of Bonalu Festival. GHMC Mayor Gadwal Vijaya Lakshmi, Rajya Sabha member Anil Kumar Yadav, Principal Secretary of the Endowment Department Shailaja Ramaiyar, DGP Jitender, Endowment Director Venkata Rao, CP CV Anand, district collectors, senior police officers, and heads of various departments participated in this coordination review meeting.
