CleanTech startup Promethean Energy, a pioneer in industrial decarbonisation, has raised USD 2 million in a Pre-Series A funding round led by Transition VC, with additional backing from Sangam Venture, Sagana Capital, and Fondation Botnar.
Founded in 2014 by Rajat Agarwal and Ashwin Krishna, Mumbai-based Promethean Energy develops high-efficiency industrial heat pumps and waste heat recovery systems aimed at eliminating fossil fuel usage in factories.
With the newly raised funds, Promethean plans to expand its product portfolio, scale operations, and broaden its reach across India and Southeast Asia.
"Thermal energy is the last bastion of fossil fuel use in Indian industry. At Promethean, we're replacing steam boilers and hot water generators with smart, electric heat pump and heat recovery systems—clean, efficient, and reliable," said Rajat Agarwal, Founder and CTO of Promethean Energy.
Promethean offers tech-first, locally optimised solutions designed for India's unique industrial conditions, integrating thermal storage, smart controls, and real-time energy monitoring. The systems deliver guaranteed energy savings and rapid ROI, with deployments in sectors such as automotive, FMCG, chemicals, textiles, distilleries, and steel. Notable clients include Hindustan Unilever, Godrej Industries, and SAIL.
Operating through CAPEX and ESCO models, Promethean's technologies have already helped eliminate over 100,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions annually. With a mission to decarbonise 1,000 factories by 2027, the company is now developing high-temperature heat pumps, an AI-powered energy optimisation platform, and a nationwide service network. International pilots are also in the pipeline for Bangladesh, Indonesia, and the Middle East.
"India's industrial and manufacturing sector is a significant contributor to national emissions, ranking third after energy and agriculture, and accounting for roughly 240 million tonnes of CO2 equivalents, or approximately 10% of India's total greenhouse gas output," said Shoeb Ali, Co-founder and Managing Partner, Transition VC. "Promethean offers impactful energy efficiency solutions, including advanced waste heat recovery systems and industrial heat pumps, which hold substantial promise for decreasing carbon emissions from this sector in both domestic and international markets. Their proven ability to successfully deploy reliable systems at scale positions them as a key player, delivering compelling and rapid returns on investment for customers."

Poonawalla Fincorp Launches Digital-First Business Loan Product for MSMEs

The company aims to simplify credit access for MSMEs through a straight through processing (STP) model, eliminating the need for branch visits You're reading Entrepreneur India, an international franchise of Entrepreneur Media. Poonawalla Fincorp Limited (PFL), a non-banking financial company under the Cyrus Poonawalla Group, has launched what it calls an industry-first digital loan offering tailored for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). Named 'Business Loan 24/7', the product is designed to provide instant approval through a fully digital process, underpinned by an advanced risk-first assessment model. According to a press release issued by the company, the new product aims to simplify credit access for MSMEs through a straight through processing (STP) model. This eliminates the need for branch visits or physical paperwork, enabling faster and more secure access to funding. The process uses digitized data sourced directly from platforms such as GST systems, credit bureaus, and account aggregators to evaluate creditworthiness with more nuance than conventional methods. PFL's approach leverages India's maturing digital infrastructure to fine-tune risk analysis while maintaining a responsible credit allocation framework. The digital model integrates analytics and verification tools to streamline onboarding and reduce turnaround time—two longstanding bottlenecks in MSME financing. Mr. Arvind Kapil, managing director and CEO of Poonawalla Fincorp, framed the launch as a response to shifting credit dynamics in the country's evolving economy. "We believe that with India's $4 trillion economy, MSMEs will be one of the most robust credit growth segments over the next 10 years, and our assumptions are based on India's strong financial infrastructure—credit bureau data, GST information, account aggregators, and strong risk analytics," he stated. "This product, which we will gradually build into the portfolio in a sensible, risk-calibrated manner, will be an industry first, and we believe it will be a very strong and convenient offering for all good-quality MSMEs." The company is targeting enterprises in Tier I, II, and III cities, particularly those engaged in retail, services, manufacturing, and trade. By positioning Business Loan 24/7 as a scalable digital solution, PFL aims to attract what it calls the "first right of refusal" on quality MSME borrowers, especially those underserved by traditional lending mechanisms. This launch follows PFL's earlier entry into digital lending for salaried professionals, and the company intends to use similar strategies to build momentum in the MSME segment. It expects the product to evolve over the next four to six quarters into a significant competitive differentiator.

Sonos Arc Ultra Delivers Bigger Bass And Clearer Dialogue In A Slimmer Design

Sonos Arc Ultra Sonos recently launched the Arc Ultra in India. It is slimmer, bassier, and just $100 more expensive than the original Arc soundbar. Those first two qualities don't usually go together, but Sonos has managed to pack deeper bass into a sleeker body. The result? A more elegant design that doesn't compromise on sound quality. The Arc Ultra also adds new features like speech enhancement and a new Sound Motion technology. If you're in the market for a high-end soundbar, here's what you need to know about Sonos' flagship Arc Ultra. The Sonos Arc Ultra is smaller than its predecessor and looks classier under the TV. It measures 2.95 inches high, 46.38 inches wide, and 4.35 inches deep. You can place it on a console or mount it, though the wall mount is sold separately for $79. The slimmer design looks better in modern living rooms. It comes in classic Sonos Black and White color options. Sonos claims a 9.1.4-channel experience from the Arc Ultra's 14 drivers: nine horizontal audio channels, one subwoofer, and four up-firing channels for a truly immersive experience. The reconfigured channel layout focuses on delivering a wider soundstage and clearer dialogue. The Sonos Arc Ultra supports Dolby Atmos, Dolby TrueHD, and Dolby Multichannel PCM with eARC-enabled TVs. It sounds excellent but adding a Sub 4 for deeper bass and two Era 100s or Era 300s for a better surround sound takes the movie watching experience to the next level. As for the soundbar itself, the sound is clearer, more detailed, with a wider soundstage and more finesse. It accentuates the thumps in action scenes and retains the depth and details in broader moments. Setup through the Sonos app is quick and glitch-free. It was easy and efficient to add (and group) the Sub 4 within Sonos' app. The Arc Ultra also supports TV Swap feature with Sonos Ace headphones, which worked flawlessly. Fortunately, I didn't come across any bugs in the new Sonos app while using the Arc Ultra. Sonos Arc Ultra and Sub 4 connected to a TV Sonos developed a new 'Sound Motion woofer' for the Arc Ultra to deliver a cinematic experience in a sleeker form factor. Whether it's the explosions in Mission: Impossible – Fallout or the wand duels in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2, the Arc Ultra keeps you immersed. Even subtle sounds like tunnel chases or brutal hits in The Batman feel vivid. The original Arc is more room-filling, but the Ultra feels more precise and immersive. Unlike many TV speakers and budget soundbars, the Arc Ultra doesn't bury dialogue in noisy scenes. Sonos' Speech Enhancement feature lets you fine-tune dialogue clarity with four levels: Low, Medium, High, and Max. I set it at High most of the time and it made the dialogues more prominent than expected. In comparison, Max boosts dialogue even further by compressing background elements. The Sonos Arc Ultra is priced at $999 in the US and ₹99,999 in India. It's available through major online and offline retailers in both countries. The premium Sonos soundbar would please most users with its clear but detailed sound, sleeker design and new features.
