Australian techie says TCS job changed his life: ‘Whatever I have today, I owe to TCS'
A former employee of Tata Consultancy Services has thanked the IT services company for changing his life. Vinay Sriram has more than a decade of work experience and currently works as a Test Lead for the Reserve Bank of Australia - but the Sydney-based professional says he owes all his professional success to his first job at TCS.
'Whatever little I have today in life I owe it to TCS,' Sriram wrote in a post shared on the social media platform X. The India-born Australian techie was responding to a post about how TCS has alleviated millions out of poverty.

Vinay Sriram started his career with TCS as a Software Test Analyst. In his thread, he remembered how getting his first job at TCS made his father proud.
'I vividly remember my dad's reaction when I said I got placed in TCS. (Though we were not a struggling family). It was one of those few moments where he hugged me and teared up at around 10 in the night when I returned home after my campus interview,' he recalled.
Though his father held a stable government job and the family was financially secure, Sriram acknowledged that for countless other students, a job at TCS was nothing short of life-changing.
'If it meant that much to my dad, a central Govt servant with a decent salary, imagine what it would mean to 1st Gen graduates and their parents, students coming from towns and villages who had to face bigger battles like oppression to even get to a half decent college,' he said.
Sriram also thanked TCS for paving the way for him to reach Australia and for indirectly helping him meet his wife.
'The opportunity to travel to Sydney, a place I dearly call my home today, is something TCS gave me,' he said on X.
The techie revealed that after getting a job at TCS through campus placement, he was waiting for his date of joining when he helped a junior prepare for the TCS interview. He eventually ended up marrying her. 'as a side note, a year later while waiting for my Date of Joining, by helping a junior with her TCS interview prep (Though she didn't make it & ended up joining Renault) I eventually found the love of my life and ended up marrying her and have two beautiful kids with her,' he said.
Sriram responded to the hate that TCS gets on social media by saying that 'One man's trash is another man's Treasure.'
'TCS is my treasure that gifted me the life I am living today,' he wrote.

Another US-based semicon co to set up project in Bengal
Kolkata: After GlobalFoundries (GF), another US-based semiconductor company — Santech Global Inc — has expressed its interest in setting up a project in Bengal, the state govt said after US Consul General Kathy Giles-Diaz met Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee at Nabanna on Wednesday. Based in New Jersey, Santech Global specialises in semiconductors and nanoelectronics. "We are in consultation with the company to extend required support," an official said. He added that Santech Global setting up a project in Bengal would contribute in the creation of a robust semiconductor ecosystem in the state and open up more economic opportunities. The state govt further said GF has sought additional space to expand operations. The GF project was announced in Sept last year during a meeting between then-US President Joe Biden and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The CM had earlier stated that necessary land had already been provided to GF — around 13,000 sq ft in the Software Technology Park of India (STPI) at Sector V. GF has asked for another 19,000 sq ft and the CM has assured to look into the request. On Wednesday, the CM and the US Consul discussed the GF Kolkata Power Center, set to come up in collaboration with the US. The CM said the project would be a significant achievement for the state and expressed hope that once in place, it would generate substantial employment. According to an official, the new semiconductor fabrication unit will focus on advanced sensing, communication and power electronics for national security as well as next-generation telecommunications and green energy applications. The official further said GF is a major semiconductor manufacturing company that produces microchips used in electronic devices such as smartphones, computers and cars. He added that GF would also set up a fabless centre for design and testing. Move to set up MSME park in every Assembly constituency gets Cabinet nod
The Andhra Pradesh State Cabinet has approved the proposal submitted by the Industries and Commerce Department to develop 175 MSME parks in the State, one each in all 175 Assembly constituencies, as part of the 'One Family-One Entrepreneur' policy. The Cabinet also approved the Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority's (APCRDA) proposal to allot 50 acres of land for the development of a Quantum Valley in Amaravati. The APCRDA submitted a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the project, Information and Public Relations (I&PR) Minister Kolusu Parthasarathy told the media at the Secretariat after the Cabinet meeting on Wednesday. The Cabinet approved a proposal for the establishment of Andhra Pradesh State Quantum Mission (SQM), for which the government would work with institutions such as IIT Madras, TCS, and IBM. Advanced research in quantum computing, AI, and cybersecurity, etc. would attract world-class researchers, bringing investments to the State. IBM will deploy '156-qubit Quantum System 2' in the State, while TCS will partner in software development and the L&T will participate in the development of Quantum Valley Tech Park. Quantum Summit This mission will contribute to cutting-edge research in cybersecurity, drug discovery, material science, and high-performance computing, transforming the State into centre for quantum technology, the Minister said, adding that the Quantum Summit would be organised in June to develop strategic action plans with international experts. This decision will ensure safe drinking water supply to 2.42 lakh people in 341 habitations across seven mandals including Palasa, Vajrapukotturu, Kaviti, Sompeta, Kamchili, Ichapuram, Mandasa, and tribal areas in Seetampeta mandal of Srikakulam district. Clean drinking water will be made available to 2.85 lakh people in 533 habitations across Kuppam, Gudipalle, Shantipuram, and Ramakuppam mandals in Chittoor District, he said. The Cabinet also approved a proposal to exempt stamp duty and registration fees for the transfer of 10.88 acres of land at Vanguru village in Eluru District, which former IAS officer Kasaraneni Damayanthi intends to donate to Hyderabad Eye Institute. Through this decision, Hyderabad Eye Institute will receive an exemption of ₹10.54 lakh in transfer duty. The Cabinet ratified the revised administrative sanctions implemented for the modernisation works of Haritha Hotel Yatri Nivas in Visakhapatnam. JetCity project The Cabinet approved the proposals for completion of Flatted Factory Complex works at JetCity at Vemavaramu village in NTR district by Andhra Pradesh Economic Cities Promotion and Development Corporation Limited (APEDCO). The government will allot 10.12 cents of land to the APEDCO for the first phase of JetCity project, he added.
