Rita Ora performed and mingled with fans at The Tryst Pool Club on New York's Fire Island on Saturday, July 12
The "Heat" singer spoke to PEOPLE at the event, sharing why she says her "amazing" LGBTQ fans are in a "league of their own"
Ora also explains why she loves touring and her big plans for the rest of the summerRita Ora showed love for her LGBTQ fans while making her first-ever visit to Fire Island.
Decked out in a black leather outfit, the "Heat" singer, 34, hopped into the DJ booth at The Tryst Pool Club in New York's Fire Island Pines on Saturday, July 12.
Ora basked in the energy as she danced with and poured shots for attendees, plus she cheered on a performance by local drag stars Pixie Aventura, Missleidy Rodriguez and Bubbles D'Boob.
Before the splashy pool party gig, when Ora disembarked her water taxi and took in Fire Island for the first time, the British star could be heard saying, "This is so fun. I'm gagged — gagged!"
In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, Ora said, "Everybody's warned me that once you get on [the island] it's gonna be hard to get off. I'm like, story of my life!"
Why does she adore her loyal LGBTQ fans so much "They're just in a league of their own," says Ora. "There is so much to learn from the years and history of the constant struggle of being authentically themselves. There's so much to it."
"Yes, they're amazing and they know just how to have a good time, but they celebrate individuality, creativity," she continues. "The conversations they have amongst each other is just full of love. But underneath it all there's always a sense of emotion and vulnerability, and that, for me, wins every time."

She adds with a smile: "And the makeup slaps! It's like, nobody knows how to do makeup better than the queens, you know what I mean? It's just the way it is."
Earlier this year, Ora wrapped a tour with Kylie Minogue, and she's set to join Ricky Martin on stops in Australia soon. She says she loves being on the road and "seeing people that have really studied my lyrics and know my songs and sing it back to me."
"Even if it's just one person," she says, "it feels to me like I'm doing the right thing. Truly it's the only thing I know how to do. Touring live really reminds me of that community that I've been a part of and also gaining new fans — it's constantly evolving. I'm really proud to say I've been doing this for, like, 12-plus years and I'm not about to stop now."
Ora will be ready for a vacation, though. "My summer plan is to just have as much fun as I possibly can, because I work so much," she says. "I think my friends are like, 'You really need to enjoy yourself.' So when I'm on holiday I'm actually gonna just be on holiday: drink, not go on my phone, not care about tomorrow."

Bill Belichick, UNC docuseries reportedly slated for Hulu after HBO Hard Knocks deal falls through

A docuseries following Bill Belichick's time at the University of North Carolina before his first season coaching the Tar Heels football team is reportedly slated to be released on Hulu. The release date has yet to be revealed, per Front Office Sports. EverWonder Studio is reportedly producing the series. The production company's portfolio includes the Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson boxing event, as well as NFL Christmas Day games on Netflix. Belichick and North Carolina were previously slated to be featured on the HBO series Hard Knocks. However, the deal fell apart after Belichick's 24-year-old girlfriend, Jordon Hudson, demanded content approval and partial ownership of the show, per the New York Times. The Times also reported that Hudson had been speaking to EverWonder about producing the series while in talks with HBO. While the title of the show remains unknown, CBS Sports previously reported that Hudson's firm, Trouble Cub Enterprises, has trademarked several titles, including 'Chapel Bill (Bill's Version),' 'Do Your Job: (Bill's Version),' and 'No Days Off (Bill's Version)." The titles are all tied to nods to Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Taylor Swift. After grabbing headlines with their 48-year age gap, Hudson made news again in June when she interrupted CBS's interview with Belichick to promote his book, "The Art of Winning." CBS correspondent Tony Dokoupil, who conducted the interview, described Hudson as a 'constant presence." When he asked Belichick how he met Hudson, she interrupted by saying, 'We're not talking about this." Belichick was hired by UNC in December after he failed to land a job in the NFL. Belichick's NFL coaching career was highlighted by his time with the New England Patriots, where he won six Super Bowl titles. He also won two Super Bowls as an assistant with the New York Giants. Belichick is now in charge of the Tar Heels after the program fired Mack Brown from the head coaching job after six years.

How Logan Lerman used papayas and 'Sex and the City' to woo his fiancée

The "Oh, Hi!" star became engaged to artist Ana Corrigan in late 2023. Logan Lerman isn't one to play games: If he's into you, he'll make it clear. In an interview with Bustle published on Friday, the 33-year-old actor revealed the 'totally weird' lengths he went to 'lure' his fiancée, ceramist Ana Corrigan, into spending more time with him early into their relationship. 'When my fiancée and I were early on dating, I used to lure her to hang out with me by getting these really special papayas. I'd order them and take photos and send them to her and be like, 'Look at these papayas! You want to hang out tonight? I mean, I have really good fruit,'' he told Bustle. But Lerman didn't stop at 'special papayas' to maintain Corrigan's interest. 'I'd be like, 'God, how can I message her?' This is psycho, but I'd record the opening to Sex and the City as if I was watching it, even though I wasn't,' he said. 'I'd be like, 'Hey, I'm watching Sex and the City…' and try to hang out that way. There's some really crazy shit that I've done, but we all do crazy shit when we're in love.' Lerman's Bustle interview isn't the first time he's publicly spoken about his and Corrigan's relationship. The Perks of Being a Wallflower actor, who cites not liking movies, music and concerts as red flags, revealed on The Drew Barrymore Show in 2024 that he and Corrigan met on a dating app. It wasn't long before Lerman knew he wanted something serious with her. 'Honestly, right away. I knew right away. I swear, I really did,' Lerman told Barrymore. Lerman's luring tactics seem to have left a lasting impression on the 30-year-old artist: He and Corrigan became engaged in late 2023. 'We ended up in Central Park. My fiancée pointed out the rowboats, and I was like, 'Oh, let's do it.' And that's when I learned I don't know how to row a boat at all. I was terrible at it,' Lerman said of the proposal during an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in 2024. Corrigan ended up rowing the boat, while Lerman regretfully sat back. 'Finally, she rowed us to a quiet part of the lake there, and I popped the question. It was great. It went really well,' Lerman added. 'She said yes. Thankfully.' Lerman's starring role in the upcoming dark comedy Oh, Hi! marks a departure from his real-life, hopeless romantic self. In theaters July 25, the film stars Molly Gordon as Iris and Lerman as Isaac, who embark on their first romantic getaway together. But their blissful weekend turns sour when Isaac reveals that he isn't actually looking for something serious. Iris then handcuffs Isaac to the bed before desperately trying to show him all the ways they're actually compatible as a couple. 'I had a lot of empathy for those people that I dated in the past and have hope for them to get to a place where they can be happy in a relationship,' Lerman told Bustle. 'I had the same thing with Isaac. I was like, 'I really hope that he can get to a place where he can be happy with someone.'' Solve the daily Crossword
