Ngamba to have surgery after pro debut withdrawal
Olympian Cindy Ngamba says she will undergo surgery to "correct" the issue that prevented her from making her professional boxing debut in March.The 26-year-old was preparing for a light-middleweight contest at the Royal Albert Hall but was withdrawn on medical grounds just a day before the planned fight.Cameroon-born Ngamba made history at last year's Paris Olympics as the first member of the Refugee Olympic Team to win a medal."I was heartbroken not to make my pro debut March 7th [when] a routine pre fight medical revealed an issues which prevented me from competing," Ngamba wrote in an Instagram post on Friday.While she did not detail the nature of the problem, she added that she would have "surgery to correct things in the coming weeks" and return to full training later in the year.UK-based Ngamba signed a "multi-fight" promotional deal with Boxxer earlier this year.She was scheduled to fight Kirstie Bavington on the all-female card headlined by welterweight world champion Lauren Price's unification win over Natasha Jonas."This is just a setback, not the end of the road. The best chapters are yet to come," Ngamba said."I will be back in action soon. Stronger, sharper and ready to leave my mark in the woman's boxing division. Always stay positive."

West Ham star Michail Antonio was involved in a horror car crash in December last year and has given a behind-the-scenes look at his gruelling recovery which involved learning how to walk again Michail Antonio has shared a video of his recovery from his horror car crash after vowing to return to football. The West Ham star was involved in an awful collision in December last year in Essex. His Ferrari was at the heart of a single-vehicle collision, leaving him with a broken leg. Antonio immediately underwent surgery for his shocking injury but was discharged from hospital three weeks later. Antonio, 35, has now taken to Instagram to give supporters a look at his gruelling recovery, alongside the caption: "Faith will overcome all challenges". The video which appeared on his official social media began with the wreckage of Antonio's car, while it also showed him in hospital immediately after the incident. Antonio then shared videos of him walking with a frame alongside doctors, as well as a clip of West Ham teammates visiting him in hospital. Other videos then show him at the Hammers' training ground on crutches, with the striker eventually gaining strength to walk unaided. The veteran is then pictured hard at work in West Ham's gym. The Jamaican international's emotional return to the London Stadium is also documented. The video then ends with Antonio training with a ball, as well as him being given a round of applause by his West Ham team-mates upon his return to team sessions. A number of his colleagues have replied to the update. Tomas Soucek replied with three heart emojis, while Vladimir Coufal wrote: "Respect brother". Ex-West Ham captain and current Arsenal star Declan Rice also replied as he wrote: "Monster." Antonio's latest update comes after he admitted he was close to being killed in the smash. "The most difficult part is that I almost wasn't there for my children," Antonio told the BBC's Morning Live. "It's just made me happy, positive about life, because I've got another chance at life. "During this, we kept it away from the kids. My eldest saw it, and he struggled with it. He's 13, and obviously people were showing photos of the car. So he came down and saw me in the hospital. But the younger ones, they never really knew how bad the situation was. We kind of avoided letting them get on the internet." He added: "It gave me a weird feeling in my stomach. It just made me realise how close I was to dying. I had seen the pictures but it was 10 times worse in person. The car was an absolute mess. It was difficult for me." Despite that, Antonio vowed to be back on the pitch. His West Ham contract comes to an end this summer. "Yes, 100 per cent. I will play again," he said. "It's the biggest injury I've ever had in my career. But the fact that I'm already two to three months ahead of where I should be, I know that I'll play again, and I know that once I'm playing the game I'll get the sharpness back. "People have always doubted me. My mental strength is something that I've always believed in and this is just another setback, and it is not going to stop me." Snoop Dogg shares plan to open a burger van outside major British football club
Snoop Dogg said he would like to bring a pop-up burger to Celtic Park as he believes football fans would love it - and he even shared his perfect recipe for a good burger Snoop Dogg has revealed he hopes to open a burger van at Celtic Park – and said he would like to serve fans himself. The West Coast rapper has previously spoken of investing in the Glasgow football club, similar to Hollywood star Ryan Reynolds ' involvement with Wrexham FC. Snoop Dogg, 53, has already published a cookbook and claims to have spoken to chef Gordon Ramsay about a possible venture in Glasgow together – but he has now revealed he wants to set up a fast-food van at Celtic's stadium in the city's east end. He has described Celtic supporters as "special" and the best fans in European football, and said he identifies strongly with the club's mascot Hoopy the Hound – describing it in a previous interview as a "match made in heaven". The keen sports fan worked as a correspondent for NBC at the Paris Olympics last year, has launched two youth football leagues, and has been a vocal advocate for pay equality for female athletes. He told the Sunday Mail that Celtic fans would support the burger van and that it would become a foodie "Paradise" – the nickname give to Celtic Park. He said: "I would love to bring a pop-up burger (van) to a sports stadium to show fans that food at stadiums can be good. "It's got to be Celtic Park, man. The secret to a good burger is the love in the preparation. The ground beef has got to be mixed with some secret spices, then add a good quality cheese and some maple-cured bacon. "The Celtic fans are gonna love it, and to make sure they are just right, Snoop is going to be serving them himself." But he said he would not be taking his culinary ventures to Celtic's Old Firm rivals at Ibrox. Snoop told the Sunday Mail: "Am I going to bring my burgers to Rangers as well? Nah, I think we will give that a miss." The confession comes after the rapper offered to swoop in and heal the rift between estranged brothers Prince William and Prince Harry. Earlier this year, the rapper, whose links to theroyals go back years, as he was asked to perform at William's stag party, said he'd be more than happy to act as peacemaker between the estranged pair. "Harry and William, I have known for a long time now," he said. "Harry asked me to perform at William's bachelor party but I couldn't make it. Anything they want to perform at now, I am there. They are brothers, man. Anything that gets them in the same room and being brothers again will be worth it. Life is too short to not make things right, and if Snoop can help heal that relationship, then let's do it." It kind of helps we both love sport, food, and music, but as the years went on our friendship became deeper."
