Mike Brown misses out on top Knicks assistant target with James Borrego staying with Pelicans
Borrego, whom the Knicks interviewed for their head coaching vacancy and then eyed as a potential associate head coach after hiring Brown, is staying with the Pelicans in his role as Willie Green's associate, SNY reported Wednesday.
The Post's Stefan Bondy previously reported there was skepticism New Orleans would grant Borrego permission to leave for a lateral move.

Brown will get to choose his lead assistant as Bondy reported Tuesday that Jalen Brunson's dad, Rick, has accepted a lesser role than the one he held under Tom Thibodeau, who was fired last month after the Knicks were eliminated by the Pacers in the Eastern Conference finals.
Assistants Darren Erman, Mo Cheeks and Mark Bryant are expected to remain on Brown's staff as holdovers from Thibodeau's tenure.

Eagles rumors: ESPN expert predicts ‘shock' A.J. Brown trade in coming years
The post Eagles rumors: ESPN expert predicts 'shock' A.J. Brown trade in coming years appeared first on ClutchPoints. The Philadelphia Eagles are looking to go back-to-back after winning the Super Bowl last season, and they have the talent to do so. The one downfall of winning is that some players have to move on after getting big paydays from other teams, and that's what happened with some of the roster during the offseason. In other cases, there have to be trades made to cut savings, and it's never an easy thing to do, especially when that player was a key part of the organization. This is the reality that some teams have to face, and the Eagles may keep running into this situation the more they win. In ESPN's latest predictions, they believe one of the receivers will end up getting traded in the coming years, according to Seth Walder. 'The Eagles will trade wide receiver A.J. Brown before the 2027 season,' Walder wrote. 'It will be a shock — Brown will be coming off two more seasons of exceptional play and will be considered a major asset for the win-now team that acquires him — but general manager Howie Roseman will decide to move on and get draft assets for him before Brown's decline sets in.' Roseman is known for not being scared of making a deal, and if it means trading someone like Brown, he'll do it. A.J. Brown believes he's a top receiver Brown has been a consistent receiver in the league, and he's been a key part of the Eagles' offense since joining the team in 2022. Jalen Hurts has a lot of mouths to feed on the field, so he doesn't have to always spam one receiver, but Brown does believe he's the best in the league at what he does, regardless of what his stats look like. 'I truly feel like I'm the best (wide receiver) in the league, and I wanna put a stamp on that,' Brown said via Eliot Shorr-Parks of 94 WIP. 'Definitely motivated, but also I have to put the team first … That's what I focus on, being a better version of myself and proving each and every day that I am the best.' Brown has eclipsed 1,000 receiving yards in each of his three seasons with the Eagles, and he almost reached 1,500 yards in his first two seasons. Brown is a matchup nightmare with his size, and he can also get downfield and make a play. He's definitely in the conversation for being a top receiver in the league, and he may have something to prove this season. Eagles GM Howie Roseman recalls AJ Brown trade left Eagles Draft Room stunned
The post Eagles GM Howie Roseman recalls AJ Brown trade left Eagles Draft Room stunned appeared first on ClutchPoints. The Philadelphia Eagles are hoping they will be able to defend their Super Bowl title during the upcoming 2025 season. A big part of the Eagles' success during their 2024 run was the play of wide receiver A.J. Brown, who has become one of the league's best at his position over the course of his career. The Eagles acquired Brown from the Tennessee Titans on draft night in 2022 in exchange for the 18th pick, and recently, Philadelphia general manager Howie Roseman revealed the process that went into working out the deal, which included signing Brown to a new contract immediately after trading for him. 'Between twelve and eighteen, I'm trying to finish the contract. So nobody knew except a couple people that we're even doing it. I said imagine this falls apart. Like I'm going to be the GM who can't get a deal done with AJ. At that point we finished it, it was about pick 14 and the deal was done,' said Roseman, per the Bussin With The Boys podcast. Roseman also revealed that he waited until the last second to tell his front office counterparts that the deal had been reached. 'I turned to Jefferey and Nick and said we're going to surprise our room when we're on the clock. They don't know anything about it. So when we get ready to pick, I'm going to say, 'Hey guys, we're going to pick AJ Brown. And they're all going to look at me like what the f—k is going on, but they're all going to be excited as s—t,' he said. A good decision for the Eagles The trade for AJ Brown has certainly worked out for the Eagles, culminating in last year's Super Bowl championship win. While Brown hasn't always been thrilled with the number of targets he's received, he undoubtedly played an integral role in helping Philadelphia hoist another Lombardi Trophy last season. The Eagles are now preparing for their new season, which will begin on September 7 against the Dallas Cowboys. Philadelphia will next take the field for preseason on Saturday against the Cleveland Browns.
