Husband and wife duo retire from Glasgow Post Office after 30 years
Dilbag and Jatinder Sandhu officially retired from the Halfwayhouse branch on Paisley Road West in Cardonald on May 28. Over the past three decades, the couple – who worked as subpostmasters - ran three Post Office locations across the city, including one in Anderston and two in the Southside. Ahead of their retirement, Dilbag explained that they had 'enjoyed every moment'. During their time in the Southside, Dilbag completed four London Marathons, 10 half marathons in Glasgow, and multiple Great North Runs – raising thousands of pounds for charity. He explained that he was inspired to begin his running journey after a customer was diagnosed with cancer. Before this, Dilbag says he had never run in his life. 'We used to visit him in the hospital from time to time, and I told him that I would run for him. That man supported me so much. 'That's where my running journey began. When I first took part in the London Marathon, every customer supported me, and we raised more than £1000 for a cancer charity. 'I was planning to fly to London on the Saturday as the event was on the Sunday, and there were four or five ladies who came to see me off and give me their blessings. 'This is something I cannot forget in my life.' 'We would sometimes visit her at her house, and I told her that for her 100th birthday, we could celebrate at the Post Office. 'It was wonderful. We are very, very sad to be leaving. Several weeks ago, we had our first grandchild in 15 years, so we will go visit him. 'Then, after that, there are a few things to be done around the house. Once that is done we will plan further.'

California lottery player lands mega $204 million Powerball jackpot
Someone in California has won the most recent Powerball jackpot, which is worth $204.5 million, according to lottery officials. The jackpot hit during the drawing that was held on Saturday, May 31. The jackpot has since been reset to $20 million. According to Powerball officials, the winner will have the choice between receiving an annuitized payment of $204.5 million or taking one large payout of $91.6 million. Both of those figures are before taxes. The winning ticket was sold at a 7-Eleven on Woodman Avenue in Arleta, California, which is just outside of Los Angeles. This is the fourth Powerball jackpot to hit this year. The last grand prize winner hit their numbers on April 26. That winner, an individual from Kentucky, won $167.3 million. An Oregon Powerball player was the first to win the big prize this year, scoring a hefty $328.5 million jackpot on January 18. The largest prize in 2025, however, was won on March 29 when a buyer matched all six Powerball numbers and won $527 million. The numbers for the most recent jackpot on Saturday were 1, 29, 37, 56, 68, with the Powerball number 13. Two other people — one from Florida and one from New Hampshire — won the $2 million Match 5 + Power Play prize. The next Powerball drawing will take place on Monday, June 2, just after 11pm EST.

Prince Harry asked Princess Diana's brother if he could change his family name to Spencer

The 40-year-old is believed to have asked Princess Diana's brother - Earl Spencer - for advice during a visit to the UK. A friend of Harry's told the Mail: "They had a very amicable conversation and Spencer advised him against taking such a step." Harry's children go by Mountbatten-Windsor - which combines the Royal Family's name of Windsor and the Duke of Edinburgh's surname. If the prince had gone ahead with the name swap, his daughter would have become Lilibet Diana Spencer. It follows claims by royal author Tom Bower that: "Meghan decided her real object in life was to be Diana." Mountbatten-Windsor is the surname of descendants of the late Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip. Philip adopted the Mountbatten name when he became a British subject and gave up his Greek and Danish royal title in 1947. He and the late Queen and Philip decided ten years later that they wanted their direct descendants to be known as Mountbatten-Windsor. While you don't need to go through a legal process to use a new name, it is recommended to use a deed poll to change documents such as passports and driving licences. This is not the first time Harry and Meghan have been touchy on their names or titles. The became the Sussexes when the late Queen gave them the titles when they married in 2018. Harry previously had the title Prince Henry of Wales. But on his wedding day, he became The Duke of Sussex, a title which had been vacant since 1843. When they married, Meghan adopted the female equivalent of Harry's name, so became Duchess of Sussex. And Meghan was seen to firmly correct Mindy Kaling after her friend called her Markle on her Netflix show. In an episode on With Love, Meghan, the Duchess said: "It's so funny you keep saying 'Meghan Markle' – you know I'm Sussex now. "You have kids and you go, 'No, I share my name with my children'. "I didn't know how meaningful it would be to me but it just means so much to go 'This is OUR family name. Our little family name.' " Questions were raised when Harry and Meghan called their daughter a princess for the first time in 2023, when her christening was announced. The children were then officially named as prince and princess on the Royal Family's official website. Archie and Lilibet are sixth and seventh in line to the throne. Before their titles were listed as prince and princess on the royal website, they were down as Master Archie Mountbatten-Windsor and Miss Lilibet Mountbatten-Windsor. They gained the titles when King Charles become the King, as they are grandchildren of the monarch. Meghan also recently raised eyebrows after it was revealed she is still using her HRH title - despite promising the late Queen she wouldn't after leaving royal duties. Although she used it around her friends instead of for "commercial purposes', a royal expert criticised her for using the title for her advantage. In a podcast interview with pal Jamie Kern Lima, a photo showed a gift basket of ice cream and strawberry sauce Meghan sent her a year ago. With it came a note on monogrammed paper, signed: "With the compliments of HRH the Duchess of Sussex."
