Their dedication and supreme sacrifice for the nation will forever inspire its citizens," the President posted on X.
On Friday, families of army personnel who made the ultimate sacrifice during the Kargil War of 1999 gathered at Lamochen Viewpoint in Drass to pay heartfelt tributes to the heroes of the war.
The solemn event, organised to honour the bravery and sacrifice of the
Indian Armed Forces
, saw emotional recollections from family members of fallen soldiers.
The gathering at Lamochen Viewpoint served as a poignant reminder of the courage and selflessness displayed by Indian soldiers during the Kargil conflict.
Every year on July 26, India commemorates Kargil Vijay Diwas, a day etched in the nation's heart with pride and solemn remembrance. It marks the day in 1999 when India successfully concluded
Operation Vijay
, reclaiming the strategic heights from Pakistintruders.
The Kargil War is a saga of strong political, military and diplomatic actions. This War will always be remembered for its strategic and tactical surprises, as well as the self-imposed national strategy of restraint in keeping the war limited to the Kargil-Siachen sectors and the swiftly executed tri-services military strategy.

Siddaramaiah lays foundation for new Congress office in Mysuru

Mysuru: Chief minister Siddaramaiah on Saturday laid the foundation stone for a new Congress office in Mysuru. The CM laid the foundation stone for the new Congress office, officially named Indira Congress Bhavana, at the site of the party's existing office premises. He appealed to party workers to contribute towards the construction of the new office. "Even a contribution of Rs 500 can make a difference," he said, urging everyone to donate according to their capacity. He also asked them to ensure the construction of the building is completed within a year. During the event, party workers attempted to celebrate the CM's birthday by organising a cake-cutting, but he declined, stating, " I have never cut a cake and I won't do it now." He did, however, accept a felicitation from the workers at their request. Deputy chief minister DK Shivakumar later joined in the felicitation. Shortly after the foundation stone was laid, the CM left for Varuna. Shivakumar, in his address, described the upcoming building as "a temple for Congress workers and a guardian of democracy." He encouraged every party worker to contribute — even if it was just Rs 100 — towards the project. He also urged all Congress MLAs from Mysuru district to donate funds for the initiative. The DCM stressed the importance of establishing dedicated Congress offices in every taluk and said he had urged the CM and district minister HC Mahadevappa to prioritise this. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like They Are Unstoppable: The Most Beautiful and Talented Female Athletes Undo Speaking at the function, Narasimharaja MLA Tanveer Sait referred to Shivakumar as his political guru. Party workers said it was former CM Devaraj Urs who was instrumental in securing this land for the Congress office back in 1980. Congressman Nagabhushan Tiwari, who has safeguarded the property ever since, was felicitated on the occasion. The party could have earned revenue by leasing the land to the railways for a parking project, but it didn't, they noted. Ministers HC Mahadevappa and K Venkatesh, Guarantee Schemes Implementation Committee state president HM Revanna, KPCC vice-president Pushpa Amarnath, MLAs Tanveer Sait, Harish Gowda, Darshan Dhruvanarayan, Ravishankar, MLC Yathindra Siddaramaiah, former MP VS Ugrappa, former MLA Somashekar, district leaders R Murthy, Vijaykumar, and Congress spokesperson Lakshman were present. Duo who offered Pawar 160 seats were indicating EVM hack, says Congress's Thorat

Pune/Nashik: Supporting NCP (SP) chief Sharad Pawar 's claim that two individuals approached him guaranteeing 160 seats for the opposition alliance in the state assembly election, senior Congress member Balasaheb Thorat on Saturday said he believed the duo were indicating that EVMs could be hacked. Thorat was in Nashik on Saturday for a meeting with Congress functionaries. Interacting with media persons, Thorat said, "There is enough proof to doubt the transparency and integrity of the Election Commission of India (ECI)." Thorat also accused ECI of playing mischief over the demands for electronic data of voters' lists, CCTV footage, and others. "When ECI is conducting elections on EVMs, I wonder why it is unable to provide data in electronic format. Why did EC order the erasing of all data in 45 days? All these lead to suspicions against ECI, which needs to come clean," he said. It is unfortunate that the chief minister made such remarks. It was against the image of CM." Thorat, a veteran Congress member, tested defeat against Shiv Sena newcomer Amol Khatal in the assembly poll, where he lost his traditional seat of Sangamner by a little over 10,000 votes. Supporting Rahul's claim, Thorat alleged that there was manipulation with votes in Sangamner. "After the poll results, we sought details of the votes, counting of VVPAT slips, but these details were not shared with us by ECI. There are doubts regarding manipulation not just of EVMs but several other things to benefit BJP," Thorat alleged. Citing the example of the Shirdi constituency, from where his arch-rival and BJP senior Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil won the assembly election, Thorat said, "We had complained to the election commission about bogus voters being added in Shirdi. However, it was unfortunate that the commission did not take any action." He also claimed that similar manipulation happened in the Shirur constituency, where former NCP (SP) MLA Ashok Pawar was defeated by NCP's Dnyaneshwar Katke. "Following the defeat, Pawar carried out an intense study of his constituency and learnt that there were several people who voted in the constituency but were not local residents," he said. Responding to Thorat's allegations, Vikhe Patil said, "These baseless comments are being made only to hide Congress's failure. It is quite clear that people have rejected MVA, but by making such comments against the voters' verdict, Congress is insulting the people of Maharashtra." State in deep financial crisis: Thorat Balasaheb Thorat criticised state govt over financial mismanagement and claimed that under Mahayuti, state is facing a deep financial crisis. "Govt is unable to settle the dues for the development works that may have been partially completed, which has gone beyond Rs1.3 lakh crore. Contractors are not getting their dues, but banks are going after them to clear the loans. Unable to get any relief from govt, contractors have now started dying by suicide," he claimed.
