You could save £3k – and your sanity – with my mum hacks
Casey Major-Bunce always keeps a £5 note and a plaster in the back of her phone case. As a mum of four she never knows when she might need either.
Experience has shown her that little things like this make her life much easier, and Major-Bunce has more of these tricks up her sleeve that keep an online community of mums keen to lap them up.
'If I didn't do these things I'd probably break down with four kids,' says the 34-year-old Instagram influencer from her home in Portsmouth. 'They just all make my life easier. As a mum, you're a stylist, a nurse, a dentist, a personal shopper, a chef.
'You do so many jobs you don't even realise,' she continues. 'And who's actually looking after you at the end of the day? If I can help you save 20 minutes, then that's 20 minutes you can put back into yourself.'
Her tips are practical on a level that Meghan Markle 's are not. But Major-Bunce is embedded firmly in reality. She was six years old when her mother became ill and, as a result, disabled. Aged 13, her cousin, whom she regarded as a sister, died of meningitis.
In the years that followed, she struggled with the emotional trauma, as well as undiagnosed dyslexia and autism. 'I haven't had the easiest upbringing, I didn't have a fairytale life,' she admits. 'We never had a lot of money.'

Becoming a mum herself was a turning point, giving her the purpose and reason to live that had felt missing from her life. Today, she has four children: Ayron, 14, Kaiser, nine, and identical twins Arabecca and Matilda, five.
At first, Major-Bunce, who had worked as a florist and had a reputation for being a whizz at event planning, was only handing out tips to friends. Then, in 2022, one of them suggested she should share them with others on social media.
As she started posting, her followers rose steadily. Major-Bunce was amazed as they crept up to 200, and then 400. Today, her account @MajorMumHacks has more than 700,000 followers. Remarkably, she keeps in touch with all of them via her inbox, replying directly to messages and sending voice notes.
What would she be doing now if she hadn't accrued such a large following? 'I would be working at either B&M Stores or the Co-op,' she shoots back. In other words, jobs that would fit around the school run.
They are a family that saves rather than spends. Major-Bunce loves Butlins and even if she could afford Center Parcs, she's unsure it would be for her. 'I think my husband would like it, he's a bit posher than me,' she jokes.
Instead of big-ticket purchases, Major-Bunce focuses on making the small beautiful. On a woodland walk, for example, she gives her children labelled bags for the stones and leaves they collect and take home.
Before she posts anything, she asks herself: who is it going to help? Is it going to help? And is it going to make someone feel good about themselves? 'It's really important that what you post makes people feel cool about themselves.'
She has calculated that if you did every single hack in her new book The Big Book of Major Mum Hacks then you would save £3k in a year. But she's not telling people to do every single hack.
'That's unrealistic!' she says. 'It's a case of me saying, 'This is working for me and it might help you out.' It's all about saving time, money and your sanity. And having fun while you're doing it.'
Try these MajorMumHacks
Unblocking drains
It might not be a complete, permanent fix (you may need to call a plumber), but this is a great hack for slower-than-normal sink- or bath-draining problems. Put a big squirt of washing-up liquid down the plughole, leave for 10-15 minutes, then pour boiling water down the drain.
Getting rid of shower-head limescale
Fill a sandwich bag (one with handles) one-third full with white vinegar. Tie the handles carefully around the shower head and then turn on the tap slowly so the bag fills up. Leave the bag tied securely around the shower head overnight, then next morning untie the bag and your nozzle will be sparkling clean.
Transform your picnic flask
This is one of my most shared ideas. Don't just keep tea and coffee in your flask. I put warm hot dogs in them for days out, and take the buns and ketchup with me. This will save you a fortune and be much better than what's on offer from a cafe or food truck often. I do the same with ice lollies: just put a flask in the freezer and then pop in some lollies. It will save you a fortune by not going to an ice-cream van, and that way, the kids aren't missing out.

Vase cleaning
Take your stained vase and fill with some uncooked rice – you probably only need a cup full. Add warm water, covering the water-mark stain that needs removing. Lastly, pop in a dishwasher tablet and leave overnight. In the morning, discard all the contents and give your vase a rinse in cold water.
Bedsock mop hack
Place a sock over the floor mount at the end of the mop handle, secure it and clean the floor as usual. Pop your sock in the washing machine and reuse as often as needed.
Storage
Wardrobe cubes typically have five compartments – perfect for organising outfits for each day of a short trip, with a cube for each family member. For longer vacations, use each section to keep categories such as T-shirts, nightwear and swimwear separate. Over-the-door hangers are similarly handy, offering rows of two, three, or four sections for organising smaller items or packing for a getaway. Once you reach your destination, simply hang it up – each day's outfit ready to go!
Keep playtime tidy
Over-the-door hangers are a great storage hack for children's toys as they utilise unused space behind doors, keeping toys organised, accessible and off the floor – helping reduce clutter and tripping hazards.
Passport sticker hack
I like to think I'm very organised when it comes to travelling because I have to be. Instead of having a frantic flick through each passport to match the right photo with the right person (we've usually lost the will by the end of it all) simply add a sticker to each one. Go for any that suit the holder's personality. Avoid the corners as I find they can catch and peel off more quickly if placed there.
Beanbag teddy hack
This removes the problem of where to put those soft toys, which can hang around even when the children are older but won't part with their favourites! Instead of spending money on buying a filling for the bag, simply fill it with their teddies and cuddly toys. Hey presto! An extra-comfy seating, lying, chilling area. Don't have a bean-bag cover? You can use an old single duvet cover, fill it halfway and fold over the remaining material.
Organised cupboards
Everyone has one of those kitchen drawers or cupboards that contains countless cookie cutters, baking trays, (the dreaded) plastic lids and no container… the list could go on. Good old-fashioned filing folders will turn it into an organised dream. The metal ones are robust and easy to clean.
Turn a crisp packet into a bowl
When I take a sharing-size bag of crisps to a picnic or to the beach, turning the bag into a bowl stops them going all over the place. Open the bag carefully so you don't rip it and the packet opens fully. Holding the packet upright, carefully push up the crisps from the bottom and, using both hands, you fold in the edges of the bottom of the packet in a circle shape. Continue doing this until you have a solid base and the crisps are at the top of your new bowl. Now fold down the top edges of the top of the crisp packet to make it neat and your snack-hack bowl is ready.
Watch movies outside
Buy a smartphone projector online for around £30 or less. Take a white king-size bed sheet and hang it up outside, either on a fence or over a football goal. Add lots of cushions and blankets. Now all you need to do is grab the popcorn, turn on the projector and press play on your phone.

Glamorous Instagram ‘astronaut', 22, exposed as FAKE after duping 150k followers with pics of her ‘training at Nasa'
She claimed she made into the 'Astronaut Class of 2025' with plans to go to Moon and Mars TO INFAMY & BEYOND Glamorous Instagram 'astronaut', 22, exposed as FAKE after duping 150k followers with pics of her 'training at Nasa' Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) A GLAMOROUS Instagram star who soared to fame by claiming she was an astronaut has been exposed as a fraud by NASA. Laysa Peixoto, known to her 156,000 followers as @AstroLaysa, announced earlier this month she'd been picked for a career in space exploration. But just days after her triumphant Instagram reveal - complete with snaps of her in a NASA-branded jumpsuit and helmet - NASA itself came crashing into her orbit with a reality check. The agency said bluntly in a statement: "This individual is not a NASA employee, principal investigator, or astronaut candidate. "It would be inappropriate to claim NASA affiliation as part of this opportunity." Peixoto, from the state of Minas Gerais, has told followers she was chosen by private space outfit Titans Space for a 2029 mission led by Veteran NASA astronaut Bill McArthur. She gushed in a post on June 5: "It hasn't fully sunk in yet, but I feel immense gratitude for the entire journey I've taken so far and for everyone who has been and is a part of it." She added: "It is a great joy to represent Brazil as an astronaut in such a decisive era of space exploration… It is an honour to carry the Brazilian flag with me as the first Brazilian woman to cross this frontier." But NASA's no-nonsense response made it clear she had never trained with them and had only participated in a student workshop called L'SPACE - which it described as neither a job nor an internship. Titans Space added to the confusion, confirming she had been accepted into a "candidate programme" - a far cry from a guaranteed seat on a rocket. Fires Up Its Engine and Afterburner During Test Series The company reportedly doesn't even hold a license to conduct manned spaceflights. The programme Peixoto apparently joined is a $1million "Inaugural Astronauts" package promising a five-hour space trip and just three hours of zero gravity. Questions around Peixoto's education also started brewing. She had claimed to be earning a master's in Quantum Physics and Computing at Columbia University in New York City. But the Ivy League school said there's no record of her. 8 In a post, she said: 'It is an honour to carry the Brazilian flag with me...' In the aftermath of her post, Peixoto's team said: "At no time is there a mention of NASA, or that it would be an astronaut from the agency. "The post was never edited." But eagled-eyed internet sleuths say otherwise - noting the post was edited and included photos heavy with NASA iconography. The bizarre saga saw the "fake astronaut" at the center of social media jokes. One user quipped on X: 'All I have to say is that anyone who saw a girl wearing a space camp jumpsuit claiming to be a lead astronaut researcher deserves to be fooled, when she's clearly just an ambitious and wealthy person.'

Tarek El Moussa celebrates daughter's graduation in first sighting since Las Vegas altercation
Exes Tarek El Moussa and Christina Haack came together this week to celebrate their daughter Taylor's middle school graduation. The occasion marks the first time the 43-year-old father-of-three has emerged since his Las Vegas altercation one week ago. El Moussa and Haack, 41, were joined by Tarek's current wife Heather Rae El Moussa, 37, as they united as a blended family unit. The co-parents smiled while posing with the 14-year-old graduate and nine-year-old son Brayden in a joint Instagram post shared on Tuesday. Christina, who recently finalized her third divorce, wrote in the caption: 'Taylor we are so proud of you and so excited for you to head into the next stage of your life. Our beautiful, smart, incredible, bright light we all love and adore you.' And the proud mom, who also shares five-year-old son Hudson with ex-husband Ant Anstead, added lightheartedly, 'We hope all the mistakes you've watched us make throughout your life help to guide you to a brighter future.' She added a trio of crying laughing emojis before finishing the sweet note, 'Love you, baby. High school here we come!!!' Taking to Instagram Stories, Christina also shared a photo with just Tarek and Taylor, adding, 'We've been through a lot but one thing we've always been is great co-parents.' Last week El Moussa was involved in a public scuffle in Nevada. The HGTV personality was cited for the incident but was not arrested over it. Sources told that Tarek was defending his elderly father when the squabble occurred. A spokesperson for the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department confirmed that the Flipping El Moussas star and the other male were at The Palazzo at the Venetian Resort when the confrontation took place. Witnesses said that Tarek had drove his knee into the man's head, knocking him out. Tarek's wife and reality show co-star Heather was present at the time, but had no involvement in the physical violence. Tarek, Heather, and Christina starred together in HGTV's The Flip Off earlier this year, putting their tumultuous past behind them. The show is a spinoff of Flip or Flop, which Tarek and Christina made famous during their nine-year marriage. Christina was married to Tarek from 2009 to 2018. She was married to Ant Anstead from 2018 to 2021. In May she finalized her contentious divorce from ex-husband Josh Hall. Following the legal resolution, she took to Instagram Stories to thank celebrity divorce lawyer Laura Wasser. She wrote in capital white letters against a black background, 'Huge thank you to the disso queen @laurawasserofficial and team @ashleymoe22 & @existentialjuju you are all a true class act. 'I loved watching you in action and how you handle everything and everyone with class and grace... I appreciate you all beyond words.' The impassioned note continued, 'I have learned so much under your guidance and I'm grateful to have this behind me. I can't wait to move on with my life and focus on what's ahead and all my blessings.'

Madonna is currently dating 29-year-old Akeem Morris. read more on MADONNA Flat Note Millions of Brits think they can sing better than Madonna and Justin Bieber The couple, who first crossed paths in August 2022, made their relationship public in July 2024. A source said at the time, 'Madonna is happier than she has been in a long time. "Her romance with Akeem has been a real whirlwind but they are so in love. She's not back from her trip yet but her pals wouldn't be surprised if it really is an engagement ring.' Madonna might be the Queen of Pop, but she's also queen of her brood – proudly raising six kids over the years. The Like A Prayer hitmaker first became a mom in 1996, welcoming daughter Lourdes Leon with ex Carlos Leon. Four years later, she gave birth to son Rocco with director Guy Ritchie, before the pair adopted David in 2006. Madge has always been open about her devotion to her children, and in recent years, the tight-knit clan has been showing up together more than ever. In March, Madonna revealed her twin daughters made a heartfelt return to their roots in Malawi - the first time they'd been back in eight years. The music icon, who adopted twins Stella and Estere from the African nation in 2017, shared that the trip was a powerful moment for the girls, who revisited the country they were born in. It comes as no surprise, given the pop legend's deep connection to Malawi, where she founded her charity Raising Malawi to support vulnerable children and improve healthcare and education. She told People Magazine, 'The girls have a lot of empathy for vulnerable children in need of life-saving medical care and they are very grateful to be living in a country where medical care is readily available for people.
