Amanda Holden's husband makes cheeky comparison as she makes 'naked' confession
Amanda Holden has shared a cheeky insight into her home life, revealing that her husband Chris Hughes likens her to a certain TV character due to her "naked" habits. The 54-year-old telly star confesses she's quite fond of wandering about her house in the buff.
The Britain's Got Talent judge was left blushing when she discovered a newly installed camera at her residence had been recording her. She had arranged for an electrician to fit the camera onto a drainpipe, expecting it to be activated later on.
Yet, Amanda recounts how the electrician, upon his return, mentioned he needed to review the footage to ensure the camera's angle was correct. She light-heartedly remarked that electrician Andy would need to "delete the footage".
In a candid chat with The Times, Amanda divulged her penchant for being "naked all day", although she does don pyjamas when hitting the sack.
She explained: "My husband says I'm like [the Sesame Street character] Elmo; I go around naked all day and wear pyjamas to go to bed."
Confirming she sleeps covered up, Amanda replied: "Yes. It's weird. I like pyjamas buttoned up to the neck. I'm Wee Willie Winkie, even on summer holidays. I just feel snug."
Elmo, the beloved Sesame Street character, is indeed known for wearing pyjamas to bed, but is typically seen without clothes during the day.
Amanda Holden recently opened up about her penchant for nudity at home during a segment on her Heart Radio show with co-host Jamie Theakston. In one episode, they discussed an email from a listener whose child's school had reported an "incident" during their Duke of Edinburgh Award.
The listener revealed the youngsters had followed a foodpath that went through a nudist beach. The listener said "everything was okay" but the teachers at the school "just wanted to let them know".
Jamie, aged 54, quipped: "You know those kids have done that on purpose. I love the fact that the teachers are concerned about their mental health and the kids have had an absolute hoot."
Amanda, clearly amused, retorted: "Mental health seeing a bunch of nudey wrinklers on the beach? No disrespect, you know I'm naked most of the time in my house. Naked barbecues, naked lawnmowing.."
To which Jamie wittily responded: "We're not going to get 16 seconds of this are we?" resulting in laughter from Amanda.
Reflecting on the incident later with her home camera, Amanda had previously labelled it as "potentially terrible". When Jamie enquired whether the moment was "career-threatening," she confirmed with a "yes".
She recounted a story involving her electrician Andy, saying: "I get him round the other day because I needed something else putting up, and he goes, 'I'll have a look at what we're doing to make sure the angle is alright on that camera', he said, 'It's been going for the last couple of days'.
"I went, 'I beg your pardon? !' He said, 'Oh yeah, I've downloaded the app', he said, 'I just need to make sure the angle is right'."
Britain's Got Talent panellist Amanda then turned to co-presenter Jamie and remarked: "Can you imagine what I've got up to in my garden in a couple of days?".
Whilst Jamie pondered what Amanda might have been doing in her outdoor space, she revealed she had cut the grass in the nude and exposed her chest to spouse Chris Hughes. She continued: "I'm always naked in my back garden.
"I've definitely been naked, and for a joke the other day, I was sorting something out in the garden and my husband waved at me from the bedroom window, and I flashed my boobs at him, because I thought this is funny and I went 'wahoo' [flashing] like that."
Amanda disclosed she had forgotten about the camera as it camouflaged with her drainpipe. "I had no idea it was up, and now Andy is going to be reviewing this footage and I need it all deleted," she confessed.
Amanda then clarified that the electrician could access the camera remotely via his smartphone, with all footage being automatically stored in a digital archive. "It exists! Naked lawnmowing and me flashing my boobs to my husband," she continued.
Jamie cheekily suggested her antics would create brilliant television content, which she enthusiastically welcomed. "I'd go [to] Netflix, Netflix can have it," she joked.
In a frantic bid to reach her electrician, she issued an urgent plea on air: "If Andy is listening, get round [to] my house! Delete [the footage from] Monday and Tuesday."
She added with urgency, "And I'm not joking Andy, I need that camera turned off because I've got all the school mums coming round, and that is terrible."

Amanda Holden, 54, puts on a leggy display in bikini as she strikes a pose on a boat in Greece
Bikini clad Amanda Holden put on a leggy display as she showcased her incredible figure on a boat in Greece. The Britain's Got Talent judge, 54, could be seen soaking up the sun in a flattering teal bikini in a snap shared on Monday. Wearing her wet hair back, the star accessorised with a pair of large black sunglasses as she posed on the front railing of a boat. She captioned the picture: 'Wearing @isabellemeiraswim.' Isabelle Meira is a British swimwear brand that sells the outfit for £83 - £45 for the bikini top and £38 for the bottoms. They explained: 'Flattering and versatile, they're perfect for soaking up the sun in style.' Fans of the radio presenter were quick to praise her bikini snap, with the swimwear designer praising: 'Looking incredible as ever. Hope you're having a fabulous trip!'; 'I hope this is one of your outfits on the next series of BGT.'; 'You look awesome in a bikini xx.' Amanda recently struck a similar pose in the orange wrap-around bikini, this time accessorising with a straw hat and sunglasses. She could be seen relaxing outside a villa and again lounging by an infinity pool and wrote 'soaking it all up'. Opening up about how she stays in shape to Cosmopolitan, Amanda said: 'I have to run for my rosé wine in the summer and run for my red wine in winter. 'And I don't do it because I feel I have to; I do it for my own discipline and dignity.' Fans of the radio presenter were quick to praise her bikini snap, with the swimwear designer praising: 'Looking incredible as ever. Hope you're having a fabulous trip!' Amanda also credited running for helping to clear her head. However, despite being so slim, Amanda stressed that she does not diet. Instead, she credits her flat stomach to a specific kind of yoga. She told the Express: 'I love Kundalini yoga. I just think it's really good for breath control. 'It's really good for sort of getting out any stress or tension." 'It's sort of a powerful empowering yoga, it's not the sort of yoga that everybody enjoys or loves. But for me, I feel really powerful and centred after - all of that sounds really cheesy, but that's how I feel.'

Edinburgh's 'best pubs' named this summer as 19th century bar tops list
The top drinking venues in the Scottish capital have been crowned. The "best pubs" in Edinburgh have been named, with well-loved drinking venues singled out on a new list published by The Times. Edinburgh is known across the UK and beyond for its historic pubs. The Scottish capital is home to bars that date back hundreds of years. On Thursday, July 24, The Times shared a roundup of eight of the top pubs across the city. Beloved and renowned venues from all over Edinburgh were included. Coming in at number one on The Times' list is Café Royal. The Victorian bar is situated on West Register Street, just off of the city's iconic Princes Street. Café Royal is a grand bar and oyster restaurant that is renowned for its real ales and fresh seafood. The pub dates back to 1893, and features opulent Victorian interiors. Visitors to Café Royal can enjoy a curated selection of beers and continental lagers, as well as various wines, spirits, and cocktails. In terms of food, the pub offers up dishes such as fish and chips, steak, and Cullen skink. The Times wrote: "Victorian gin palaces were often considered gaudy and brash, especially by those who thought they were too good to drink in them. Really they were intended as palatial spaces that made for a heightened drinking experience but would still feel welcoming to casual visitors. The Café Royal, built in 1863, pulls off that difficult feat. "The oval central bar evokes top Manhattan hotels, but images of notable Scottish historical figures in stained glass and tall paintings never let you forget you're in Edinburgh. I'm not sure anywhere else could achieve this balance of grandeur and approachability." Meanwhile following behind at number two on the newspaper's roundup is The Royal Dick. The pub is located within the courtyard of Edinburgh's multi-arts venue Summerhall. The Royal Dick was once Edinburgh's vet school, with many nods to its heritage inside. Featuring one of Edinburgh's biggest beer gardens, the venue is a popular spot to enjoy some food or drink before or after a show at the Edinburgh Fringe in August. The newspaper stated: "Theatre cafés are rarely memorable but the Dick, while being clean and modern, also pays homage to its history, with animal bones and lab apparatus among the many interesting specimens and artefacts around walls. A relaxed yet stimulating place, it is of course six deep at the bar during the festival. "But it's worth timing a visit for when the show before the one you're planning to see has just started." Elsewhere, coming in at number three on The Times' list is The Abbotsford. The pub is located on Rose Street in the centre of the city. The Abbotsford is known for its lavish decoration and original island bar carved from Spanish mahogany. The Edwardian venue is home to both a pub and restaurant, the latter of which serves up traditional dishes such as haggis, neeps and tatties and steak and ale pie. The Times singled out The Abbotsford for its whisky selection and "beautifully corniced ceiling". The newspaper recommended that visitors follow the "local tradition" of ordering a dram and a half-pint at the bar. The full list of "eight of the best pubs in Edinburgh" can be found on The Times website.

Strictly Come Dancing has signed two new dancers for the 2025 series. Alexis Warr and Julian Caillon will join the BBC show later this year. The pair were all smiles as they beamed and waved at the camera as they arrived at the dance studio to meet the other dancers for their first rehearsal. Alexis nailed off-duty glam in an oversized khaki shirt, round dark sunnies and a chic brown leather bag slung over her shoulder. Her fiery red locks were swept into a high ponytail, falling in effortless waves. By her side, Julian kept things cool in a fitted black tee and matching trousers, with his dark hair slicked back for a sleek finish. Both are familiar faces on the global Dancing With The Stars circuit and bring a wealth of performance experience to the UK version. Alexis made a name for herself in the US when she won So You Think You Can Dance in 2022. She was the first female ballroom and Latin specialist to take the title, earning the title of America's Favourite Dancer. Since then, she's performed as a troupe member and guest pro on the American Dancing With The Stars, as well as touring with the show for the past three years. Shirley Ballas reveals Strictly's new signings and teases line-up is 'off the charts' Her credits include America's Got Talent, World of Dance, and multiple live tours with DWTS judge Derek Hough, including his Las Vegas residency. Julian, who grew up in Australia, began dancing at the age of 10 and has represented his country at international level in both ballroom and Latin styles. He's appeared as a professional on three seasons of Dancing With The Stars Australia and has toured worldwide with Burn The Floor. Giovanni Pernice Strictly scandal timeline October 2023: Amanda abruptly withdraws from Strictly having already missed one live show. Her departure is announced in a vague BBC statement that 'wishes her the best'. Giovanni posts a short message on social media addressing the exit, which read: "Amanda… I am so sad we can't continue but I am proud of what we achieved and I am sending you so much love.' Amanda then shares her own farewell statement on Instagram thanking co-stars but failing to mention Gio. Giovanni's dad Piero insists there were no signs of a fall out and the pairing could have gone all the way. He praised his son as kind and polite. November 2023: Giovanni is reportedly gutted by the situation and is considering his Strictly future as questions are raised about his conduct. January 2024: Amanda's PTSD diagnosis comes to light and she demands CCTV from rehearsals to prove that Giovanni's training methods weren't acceptable. The BBC issues a statement defending its duty of care to contestants, insisting it takes any claims of wrongdoing very seriously. The Corporation stands by its man after emergency meeting March 2024: Giovanni publicly states he has no intention of leaving Strictly in a TV interview with close pal Anton du Beke. Ranvir Singh and Laura Whitmore enter the picture. Allegedly the two celebs, who were both previously partnered with Giovanni on Strictly, didn't feel the BBC took their issues with his methods seriously enough. The pair have a closed meeting with Amanda where tears are said to be shed. May 2024: We reveal Giovanni is leaving the programme after having talks with show bosses He leaves the country with girlfriend Molly Brown on holiday The BBC launches an internal investigation after three complainants instruct lawyers. A source describes it as a "nightmare situation". He also competed on the Australian edition of So You Think You Can Dance. Alongside his dance career, Julian holds a degree in Exercise Physiology from UNSW Sydney and has worked as a personal trainer. The duo join a returning cast of professionals that includes Dianne Buswell, Gorka Marquez, Katya Jones, Neil Jones, Nikita Kuzmin, Vito Coppola, Amy Dowden, Nancy Xu, Karen Hauer, Jowita Przystal, Luba Mushtuk, Carlos Gu, Johannes Radebe, Lauren Oakley, Aljaž Škorjanec and Michelle Tsiakkas. Dianne will be back after winning last year's series with comedian Chris McCausland. Amy, who withdrew early from the 2024 run due to a foot injury, is also confirmed to return. Carlos and Kai Widdrington will be back as well, despite not being partnered with celebrities in the last series. Giovanni Pernice, however, will not be returning this year. The Italian dancer, who was previously a regular fixture on the show, was absent last year and has faced allegations relating to behaviour in the rehearsal room. Graziano Di Prima has also left the show following a separate complaint involving Love Island's Zara McDermott. Sarah James, executive producer at BBC Studios, said: 'We've been big fans of Alexis and Julian for some time so it's with great excitement that we now welcome them both to the Strictly family. "They're two incredible dancers with bright futures ahead of them, and we know viewers are going to love getting to know them both.'
