Shri Sadashiva Bane (55), a resident of Kempatti Village in Raybag taluk of Belgaum district in Karnataka, carried his mother, Sattevva Laxman Bane, aged 100 years, on his shoulders and walked 220 km to fulfil her wish to offer prayers at Pandharpur's Vitthal Temple.
It is a major pilgrimage site in Maharashtra, dedicated to Lord Vitthal, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu, and his consort Rukmini.

As per Udayavani.com, Sadashiv, a long-time devotee of Pandharpur Vitthal, has been walking to the temple for the past 15 years. However, he always dreamed about taking his mother on his shoulders and carrying her to Vitthal's darshan via the traditional dindi padayatra. Well, it looks like his long-time wish just came true.
The story of this Modern-day Shravan Kumar was also published in a local newspaper. Recently, an X user shared a picture of the story. He wrote, 'A 55-year-old son carries his 100-year-old mother on his shoulders and does a Padayatra of 220 kms to Pandrapura Vittala darshana. Shri Sadashiva Bane had a long desire to carry his mother on his shoulder to Pandrapura. He took 9 days to go from Kempapatti Grama to Pandarpura."
Man Takes Mother On 66,000 Kms Pilgrimage
In a similar case, earlier, a man named Dakshinmurthy Krishna Kumar took his 73-year-old mother to a 'Matru Seva Sankalp Yatra' – a travel expedition to fulfil her bucket list on a 2001 model scooter.
Krishna Kumar, 44, and his mother began their journey on January 16, 2018, and after 5 years, the mother-son duo travelled 66,000 kms and have been to almost all the major religious cities across the country, along with countries like Nepal, Bhutan, Manyamar, etc.
Speaking to The Times of India, Krishna Kumar said, 'I've been on this 'Matru Seva Sankalp Yatra' since January 16, 2018, for one simple reason: my mother had been confined to four walls and a roof for her whole life, and I wanted to show her the world."

Hurricane Erin: NJ Announces State Of Emergency, Outer Banks Face Coastal Flooding
Last Updated: As of Thursday morning, the hurricane was located approximately 285 miles east of Cape Hatteras, according to the NHC. Hurricane Erin continues to pose a serious threat along parts of the US East Coast as it tracks northeastward, prompting emergency measures in multiple states. On Thursday, New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy declared a state of emergency due to the risk of flash flooding, high surf, and dangerous rip currents. Although the hurricane has moved away from the coast of North Carolina, the National Hurricane Center (NHC) said in an 8 am ET advisory that Category 2 storm conditions still persist along the North Carolina and mid-Atlantic coastline. Erin's sustained winds have reached nearly 100 miles per hour, with even stronger gusts expected. A storm warning has been issued from Beaufort Inlet, North Carolina, to Chincoteague, Virginia. As of Thursday morning, the hurricane was located approximately 285 miles east of Cape Hatteras, according to the NHC. In his official statement, Governor Murphy warned of continued risks in the Garden State. 'As the storm moves past New Jersey over the next 24 hours, we are expecting high surf and rip currents, coastal and flash flooding, and a high erosion risk in parts of the state," he said. Along the Outer Banks of North Carolina, the most severe high tide is expected Thursday evening. The storm surge is forecast to bring inundation levels between 2 and 4 feet, particularly during the high tide cycle. The hurricane is projected to gain speed as it moves further out to sea on Thursday and Friday. It is expected to pass south of Atlantic Canada over the weekend. Local outlet The Island Free Press, which covers the Outer Banks region, reported 'extreme ocean overwash" during Thursday morning's high tide in northern Buxton, north of Hatteras Village, and northern Ocracoke Island. Floodwaters also inundated parts of Hatteras Village. More than 2,000 residents and tourists have evacuated from Ocracoke and Hatteras islands, following official orders. The storm surge has caused significant damage, breaching protective sand dunes and rendering Highway 12, the region's only main access road, impassable. Hurricane Erin originated on August 11 from a tropical wave off the Cape Verde Islands, intensifying rapidly and being officially upgraded to hurricane status on August 15. It has since become one of the fastest-intensifying storms of the Atlantic hurricane season. view comments First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Kerala launches logo for Global Ayyappa Sangamam to be held at Pampa next month
Last Updated: Thiruvananthapuram, Aug 21 (PTI) Kerala Devaswom Minister V N Vasavan on Thursday unveiled the logo of the Global Ayyappa Sangamam, which will take place at Pampa in Pathanamthitta district on September 20. The event, organised by the Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) with the support of the state government, aims to bring together devotees and organisations from across the world with an interest in the development of Sabarimala. TDB president P S Prasanth said the summit is intended to showcase Sabarimala's message of equality and its guiding principle of Thathvamasi—meaning 'you are that"—which promotes non-discrimination. A state-approved master plan for Sabarimala's development will also be presented at the meeting to seek views from the participants, he added. Several sessions are planned as part of the programme. Vasavan said the Sangamam is being held as part of the Travancore Devaswom Board's platinum jubilee celebrations this year. Representatives from national and international organisations that bring Ayyappa pilgrims to Sabarimala will be invited, along with delegates from Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Maharashtra and other states. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan is scheduled to inaugurate the meet. Under the master plan, Rs 773 crore has been earmarked for Sabarimala's development, with Rs 200 crore each allocated for works in Pampa and Nilakkal. The projects, prepared by the College of Engineering, Thiruvananthapuram, will be carried out in three phases. 'The summit will also look into gaps in current pilgrim facilities," Vasavan said, adding that the government's main goal is to provide better amenities for devotees and position Sabarimala as a global spiritual tourism hub.
