Sydney Sweeney is fascinated by the entertainment industry. The 27-year-old actress has enjoyed a meteoric rise in recent years, starring in 'Euphoria' and 'Once Upon a Time in Hollywood' - and Sydney has admitted to loving every aspect of the industry. The blonde beauty - who now has her own production company, Fifty-Fifty Films - told Empire: "This industry is so fascinating. "There are so many chats, pieces and moves to make, and I find that really exhilarating. It's constantly changing. "I love acting, but being able to step outside of that and then see how everything comes together, and understand what every crew member needs and what it takes to get a project from imagination to conception ... When people see it in the theatres or on screen, it's been a really long, hard process, but I love it." Sydney starred alongside Glen Powell in 'Anyone but You', the 2023 rom-com. The movie proved to be a hit with fans, but was widely panned by critics. Sydney reflected: "Critics all have their own opinions, and you can't just try and make critics happy, because you're not thinking about everybody else. It's a different process and a different experience." Sydney previously admitted that she would "absolutely love" to work with Glen again. The actress told Vanity Fair's 2025 Hollywood Issue: "We definitely are very supportive of each other's careers. We watch and talk about each other's projects all the time, or even if we're both debating between projects, we'll call each other up and ask for advice. "I just saw him last week and we were talking through some projects, so we definitely have a really great working relationship. We would absolutely love to work on something else together." 'Anyone but You' actually became a big success despite having a modest opening at the box office. Reflecting on the film's popularity, Sydney shared: "It was all because of the fans. "I loved it. I felt like none of it was forced on the audience. They really fell in love with it themselves and they shared that love with everybody. I love that the marketing came from them."

When 'Good Night, and Good Luck' arrived on Broadway this spring, it initially provoked a surprising amount of cynicism. There were complaints that the adaptation by George Clooney and Grant Heslov was basically a reproduction of the 2005 film, which chronicled CBS newsman Edward R. Murrow's heroic crusade against Sen. Joseph McCarthy's communist witch hunts. The sky-high cost of tickets was another source of criticism. Was Broadway pricing itself beyond the reach of its core audience? Reports of 'Good Night, and Good Luck' shattering box office records served to remind those who couldn't afford a ticket that they were being left behind by a theater culture that was siding with the haves over the have-nots. In a Broadway season that featured Denzel Washington and Jake Gyllenhaal in a rudderless 'Othello' and Kieran Culkin in a 'Glengarry Glen Ross' revival that might have been stronger without him, 'Good Night, and Good Luck' was a convenient target for anti-Hollywood sentiment. When I arrived at the Winter Garden for a Saturday matinee in April, I can't say my expectations were especially high. I admired the film but hadn't seen it in nearly 20 years. The broodingly elegant production, sharply directed by David Cromer and starring a quietly committed Clooney in the role of Murrow (played in the film by David Strathairn), was not only one of the most stirring offerings of the Broadway season but also one of the most necessary. I left the theater wishing I could buy tickets for my friends and family. That won't be necessary — thankfully for my credit cards — because CNN will be broadcasting a live performance of 'Good Night, and Good Luck' from the Winter Garden on Saturday. It's apparently the first time a Broadway play will be shown live on television, and the timing could not be better. As media companies face a campaign of intimidation from the Trump administration, the figure of Murrow, standing tall in the face of demagogic adversity, is the courageous example we need right now. I don't know how different the experience will be watching at home, but 'Good Night, and Good Luck' made me reflect on what theatergoing might have been like in ancient Greece. Athenian citizens would gather at an open-air theater as a democratic privilege and responsibility. Playwrights addressed the polis not by dramatizing current events but by recasting tales from the mythological and historic past to sharpen critical thinking on contemporary concerns. Clooney and Heslov aren't writing dramatic poetry. Their more straightforward approach is closer to documentary drama, but the effect is not so disparate. We are affirmed in the knowledge that we are the body politic. CNN will broadcast the penultimate performance of 'Good Night, and Good Luck' on the eve of the Tony Awards. The production is up for five Tonys, including one for Clooney in the lead performance by an actor in a play category. But however the awards shake out, Clooney is already a winner. Like Murrow, he reminds us that conscience can still be a defining feature of the American character.

At the end of Wes Anderson's new caper, 'The Phoenician Scheme,' there are some unusual credits. In addition to the cast and crew, the artworks featured in the film are listed, complete with ownership details. That's because the pieces onscreen are not reproductions. They are in fact the actual masterpieces from Pierre-Auguste Renoir, René Magritte and other well-known artists. In the past, Anderson has faked a Kandinsky and a Klimt. Here he went for the real thing. 'We have a character who's a collector, who's a possessor; he wants to own things, and we thought because it's sort of art and commerce mixed together this time we should try to have the real thing,' Anderson said via a voice note. What he ended up with was impressive. The fictional collection of the businessman Zsa-zsa Korda, played by Benicio Del Toro, includes Renoir's 'Enfant Assis en Robe Bleue,' which was once owned by Greta Garbo, and Magritte's 'The Equator.' There is also a selection of works from the Hamburger Kunsthalle in Germany that includes pieces from the 17th century. Getting a collector or an art institution to hand over a painting worth millions of dollars to a film production isn't an easy task, and the negotiations fell mostly to Jasper Sharp, a curator who had worked with Anderson and his wife, Juman Malouf, on their 2018 exhibition at the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna, where Sharp is based. 'A film set has vast amounts of light, heat, no climate control, very lax security, people running everywhere with booms and lights and props,' Sharp said in a video interview. 'The walls that it will be hung on are made of plywood sometimes. There are less desirable places to hang art, but this was certainly a challenging environment in terms of me trying to persuade someone that they maybe want to lend an object.' Want all of The Times?
