Hyundai says no impact on production due to rare earth magnet shortage
Replying to a query in the company's earnings conference call, Hyundai Motor India Head of Investor Relations K S Hariharan noted that the company is maintaining an adequate inventory of the rare earth magnets.
'We are not facing any issue. We are continuously working with our vendor partners to take care of the inventory. We are already having adequate inventory for the near term," Hariharan said.
The automaker is continuously working with the supply partners to mitigate any kind of supply chain disruptions at the production facilities, he added.
The recent imposition of export restrictions by China on key rare earth magnets has resulted in supply chain bottlenecks impacting the user industries, including the auto and electronics sectors.
China currently dominates the global rare earth magnet supply chain, controlling over 90 per cent of global processing capacity. These magnets are essential components across sectors like automobiles, household appliances, and renewable energy.
The Chinese government has mandated, from April 4 onwards, that special export licences be required for seven rare earth elements and associated magnets. PTI MSS MSS SHW

ED raids against Bengaluru group in homebuyers fraud case
Bengaluru, Aug 1 (PTI) The Enforcement Directorate on Friday conducted searches against a Bengaluru-based real estate company and its promoters who are accused of duping home buyers worth crores of rupees in the name of selling them flats in their residential project, official sources said. At least ten premises of Ozone Urbana Developers Pvt. Ltd. and its key management personnel were raided in Bangalore and Mumbai under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), the sources said. The main promoter of the group is Satyamoorthi Vasudevan. The company and its promoters were booked by the ED after taking cognisance of multiple police FIRs registered against them related to a residential project named Ozone Urbana in Devanahalli Taluk of Bengaluru. The integrated township project was to be handed over to buyers in 2018. However, till 2024, only 49 per cent of the project was completed, the sources said. The company 'failed" to hand over the project and has neither returned the money to the buyers, they claimed. It is alleged that the accused company and its key management personnel 'cheated" gullible home buyers by promising to pay their bank EMIs (taken for purchase of homes) until completion of the project. The company also promised many buyers 'huge" discounts, if they pay full amount in advance against the bookings and it also allegedly lured them with a 'buyback scheme". It is alleged that the directors of the said company cheated its buyers collectively to the tune of hundreds of crores and misappropriated the funds, the ED sources said. Mahindra & Mahindra vehicle sales up 26 pc to 83,691 units in July
New Delhi, Aug 1 (PTI) Mahindra & Mahindra on Friday posted a 26 per cent year-on-year increase in total sales at 83,691 units in July, as compared to 66,444 units in the same month last year. In the utility vehicles segment, the Mumbai-based automaker sold 49,871 units in the domestic market, a growth of 20 per cent, as compared to 41,623 units in July last year. 'Our SUV growth has been supported by the recent launch of XUV 3XO 'REVX' Series & the commencement of deliveries for Pack two variants of the BE 6 and XEV 9E models," Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) CEO Automotive Division Nalinikanth Gollagunta said. The company said its tractor sales in the domestic market stood at 26,990 units last month, as against 25,587 units in July 2024, a growth of 5 per cent. Total tractor sales (domestic and exports) last month were at 28,708 units, as against 27,209 units for the same period last year. 'This performance was driven by sustained land preparation activities, supported by robust cash flows in rural markets following the conclusion of Rabi crop harvesting," M&M President – Farm Equipment Business Veejay Nakra said. Additionally, the normal progression of monsoon across most regions further contributed to good demand during the onset of sowing for the Kharif season, he added. 'In the exports market, we have sold 1,718 tractors, a growth of 6 per cent over last year," Nakra said.
