Zawya4 hours ago

UAE, Abu Dhabi – In support of the UAE's growing focus on workplace wellbeing and the advancement of occupational health standards, Aspen Medical has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Holistic Medical Centre (HMC) to deliver integrated healthcare services tailored to high-impact industries and workforce populations across the country.
Occupational medicine plays a central role in the prevention and management of work-related illnesses, helping ensure employees remain healthy, productive, and protected. Drawing on over nine years of experience in occupational healthcare, Aspen Medical will work closely with HMC to design and implement comprehensive health programs that contribute to safer, more resilient workplaces.
The MoU outlines several areas of collaboration, including the joint delivery of end-to-end healthcare solutions for sectors such as defence, energy, corporate, and national security. These services will be available in both urban and remote environments, supporting medical readiness wherever it is needed. Under the agreement, HMC will oversee occupational health and specialist referral services, while Aspen Medical will provide onsite medical care and clinical advisory support. The partnership also includes joint wellness initiatives, such as immunisation, preventive screenings, and ongoing health risk management aligned with workforce needs.
As the collaboration progresses, the two organisations will look at expanding their offerings to include additional workforce-focused services. These may include initiatives aimed at raising mental health awareness, as well as the delivery of basic workplace training—such as first aid courses—that complement existing healthcare services and reinforce a culture of safety and preparedness.
Claire Westbrooke-Keir, General Manager of Aspen Medical UAE, said: 'The UAE's investment in occupational health reflects a clear understanding of the link between workforce wellbeing and long-term national resilience. Our partnership with HMC is built on shared values and a commitment to practical, high-quality solutions that meet the real needs of industries and employees alike.'
Dr. Nahyan Helal, Founder and CEO of Holistic Medical Centre, added: 'Occupational healthcare has long been a cornerstone of public health. This collaboration builds on that foundation, helping employers meet regulatory requirements while enhancing the wellbeing of their teams through accessible, tailored medical support.'
As the UAE continues to strengthen its position as a hub for workforce development and industrial innovation, this partnership ensures that healthcare provision keeps pace—delivering trusted, fit-for-purpose solutions where they are needed most.

Healthcare provider Burjeel Holdings has acquired the Medeor 24×7 Hospital building, located near BurJuman Centre in Bur Dubai for AED170 million ($46.3 million). The Medeor 24×7 Hospital served as a trusted community healthcare provider in Bur Dubai for over a decade. Prior to the acquisition, it was operated under a long-term lease agreement, the company said in a statement. The remaining fixed rental commitment was of approximately AED343 million ($93.4 million) over the next 15 years. The strategic transaction eliminates that significant liability and replaces it with asset ownership in a high-performing and strategically located facility. Burjeel Holdings acquires Medeor Hospital building The hospital's infrastructure is already optimised for efficient healthcare delivery and supports potential upgrades such as day surgeries and specialty clinics. By securing full control of the hospital, Burjeel Holdings will ensure uninterrupted operations and avoid the risks and costs associated with relocation. It also enhances operational flexibility, allowing for future expansion, reconfiguration, and diversification of services without the landlord's restrictions. This acquisition aligns with Burjeel's long-term strategy to enhance operational control, reduce fixed lease liabilities, and reinforce its asset base in strategic locations. The hospital's location and strong patient volumes align with Burjeel Holdings' regional growth objectives, as it prioritises an increased presence across Dubai and the Northern Emirates, regions with strong demographic demand and high potential for scalable service delivery. John Sunil, CEO of Burjeel Holdings, commented: 'This acquisition reflects our disciplined capital strategy and commitment to long-term value creation. By transitioning from leasehold to ownership in a key market, we reinforce our operational resilience and strengthen our platform for growth. 'Dubai, along with the Northern Emirates, remains a central focus of our expansion strategy, and securing full control of this asset enables us to deepen our presence and better serve these high-demand markets.' Established in 2015, Medeor 24×7 Hospital is a multi-specialty hospital, offering a wide range of services, including mother and childcare, congenital malformation surgeries of the brain and spine, cardiology and various speciality surgeries. Saudi issues new rules: Grocery stores face product bans

The directive, announced by Minister of Municipalities and Housing Majed Al Hogail, takes effect immediately, with existing stores allowed a correction period of up to six months, Read- Under the new rules, kiosks and grocery stores or mini markets are prohibited from selling tobacco products—including regular and electronic cigarettes and shisha—as well as fresh dates, meat, fruit, and vegetables. These products may only be sold in supply stores (supermarkets) and hypermarkets, with meat sales requiring a separate license. The regulations also specify that charger cables and prepaid recharge cards can be sold across grocery stores, supermarkets, and hypermarkets. Additionally, the government has set minimum floor space requirements: grocery stores must have at least 24 square meters, supermarkets at least 100 square meters, and hypermarkets at least 500 square meters. Cold plasma technology introduced in Oman

Neoplas Argon Jet was launched after successful trials and a landmark symposium attended by over 150 healthcare professionals, including 80 Omani doctors specialising in infection control and paediatric surgery from hospitals under the Ministry of Health as well as from the private sector. A major advancement in wound care and infection management technology was celebrated at an event attended by top officials from the Ministry of Health with the official launch of the Neoplas Argon Jet Cold Plasma treatment in Oman. Oman has a 17 per cent increase in diabetic cases annually, prompting the medical community to explore innovative treatment methods. The CE MDR-approved German technology was introduced following successful clinical evaluations at Khoula Hospital and Oman International Hospital. To mark the launch organised by Alfarsi National Enterprises, a high-profile medical symposium was held in Muscat, drawing over 150 doctors and healthcare professionals from across the country. The event brought together leading experts from Europe and Oman for a full day of scientific exchange, practical insight, and a live demonstration of the device. Fatma al Adawi, a Podiatrist at Oman International Hospital, shared that the symposium was a valuable experience. The science behind cold plasma therapy shows promise, especially for chronic wound management. The groundbreaking Neoplas Argon Jet utilises cold atmospheric argon plasma to accelerate wound healing, stimulate tissue regeneration, and inactivate pathogens without pain or side effects. Its use in treating diabetic foot ulcers, chronic wounds, dermatological lesions and post-surgical infections has shown remarkable results in clinical settings at MoH hospitals. Saju George, Managing Director of Alfarsi National Enterprises, stated, "This launch of advanced technology for diabetic foot ulcers and road accident victims marks a new chapter in how we approach wound care in Oman." The Neoplas Argon Jet is the result of years of rigorous scientific collaboration involving neoplas med GmbH, the Leibniz Institute for Plasma Science and Technology (INP), University Medical Center Greifswald, Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin, and various research and industrial partners across Europe. The symposium featured renowned speakers including Dr Christian Seebauer, Dr Aleksandra Szlachcic, and Prof. Dr Ralf Lobmann, who shared their expertise in plasma-based wound care, dermatology, and diabetic foot ulcers, respectively. Dr Klaus Ruhnau, COO of Neoplas Med GmbH, also addressed the audience, highlighting the global momentum behind cold plasma therapy.
